My family is long time customers of Hooker Appliances. I personally just bought a new home and chose to get my appliances from hookers (supporting local) instead of a bigger retailer. The purchase process went smooth. But, I will warn, if you have a brand new home pick up the appliances on your own. DO NOT GO WITH HOOKER DELIVERY. Before they even stepped foot in my house I explained that I was concerned about damage and if there was any risk to leave it on my porch and we would bring it in and install it on our own. The delivery man assured me that "he was a professional". Although the other delivery man was brand new. Watching my BRAND NEW home get damaged was gut wrenching. I literally cried. I inspected this home with a fine tooth comb before move in making my contractor fix every little ding, dent and scratch in my paint. I know for a fact that the damage done on delivery was not there previously. Complaints were made and the delivery crew came back out to inspect damage. Originally the young hooker boy said that the scratches and damage were "there previously". But then changed to "you can expect damage with appliance delivery and felt like they did a pretty good job". BS. You can mansplain and act like I am a stupid girl all you want. I know the difference between dirt, plaster lines and damage that you caused. The corners of my wall and door were banged up. The entryway door was scratched and chipped and my floor was severely damaged. And these man came and laughed at me about it and said "this isn't enough damage to waste our time getting a contractor to come out and fix". Awful. I will never buy from Hooker again. And I will never refer them to anyone ever again. They can comment and say that this damage was there before from us moving in, but nothing was even moved into this side of the house yet. And our front door wasn't even used when we moved in. Lowe's delivered my fridge and had white glove delivery. No damage at all. Not even a tiny scratch. Just beware. read more

As a long time, loyal customer of Hooker Appliance I'm saddened to write this review. I bought a Speed Queen washer from Hooker Appliance in 2018. I began having problems with it, I reached out to them for warranty information. I was told that they can't warranty the unit and I would need to contact Speed Queen. I contacted Speed Queen, and was told to contact the company I bought it from. I explained to them that I already had and was not able to get the help I needed. I reached out to Hooker Appliance again and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do to help me because they're not authorized to service the unit and they don't have a technician. I tried explaining my situation to them, in hopes we could figure something out and was told again to call multiple appliance repair companies until I could find someone to warranty it. I've contacted every appliance repair company within a 100 mile radius and not one will travel to my home to warranty the unit. I did find a couple local companies that would, if I would've bought the unit from them. I reached out once again to Hooker Appliance and was told that they would no longer help me because they can't do anything. And to consider purchasing a new unit. They sold me the Speed Queen, I bought it for the warranty and I made it clear when purchasing that the warranty was the reason I was buying it. Hooker Appliance could have told me then that they couldn't warranty the unit if need be. Now I am left with a very expensive washer that has a warranty that is no good! I'm working with Speed Queen directly to try to resolve this but it may take months. And actually, we've had a similar problem with Hooker Appliance with the washing machine bought from them before the Speed Queen. I should've learned from that experience! Next time I hear someone mention that they want a Speed Queen, I will be sure to tell them not to buy it at Hooker Appliance. read more

Such a sad experience. We have been faithful customers of Hooker Appliances though the years and we were so disappointed with our last experience with Jim, the owner. We were told by Jim that it would be an excellent idea to buy a high end LG washer and dryer. After purchasing these appliances we were very disappointed that neither one would work properly. After calling Hooker we were told they do not service their machines. Had we known this from the beginning we would have purchased the machines from a company that would provide service or at least offer us an alternative. After calling the only LG specialist in Logan we were told that he would not fix an LG if it was under warrantee because LG refused to pay him for fixing warrantee items. He proceeded to tell us the LG's were trash machines and personally he highly discouraged anyone from purchasing an LG washer or dryer. We then called Jim, assuming he would make things right, but were surprised when he told us we were basically out of luck and that there was nothing he would do for us. He did tell us that we should have purchased a better machine. Which dumbfounded us as he had told when we purchased the LG washer and dryer that we would love it. We are incredibly disappointed and wanted to voice our word to possibly prevent someone else from having the same experience. read more

Many years ago I bought appliances for my new home from Hooker and had no problems, so when my old washer quit about 2 years ago this was the first store I went to. I was desperate and in a hurry (the laundry was piling up and my schedule was tight) and I thought this established, local business would be able to steer my in the right direction to get a great new washer and dryer. I explained what I was looking for. I had pretty generous budget and wanted a good quality, high capacity washer and dryer. The woman showed me 1washer/dryer set and told me that was the best thing for me, absolutely, hands down. I walked around the store and asked about several other washers, but she actually went back to her desk and was suddenly kind of evasive. She didn't want to say much about any other washer except to make some disparaging comments, which seemed a little odd. (ie "Well some of these newest HE machines just don't use enough water to get clothes clean." Even though the machine she was pushing was also an HE machine.) But I thought she must know, so I went with her recommendation. The first load I did took more than an hour and half longer than the appliance's manual said it should (3.5+ hours!) And boy was that machine loud. I hated it. I called the next day and told Hooker so. Over the phone the man told me these machines were supposed to have long cycles. That I should run the hot water first and that would help. (It did reduce the time a little, but it still ran much longer than it was supposed to.) He said it really was the best machine out there. It was the machine his wife had and she loved it. And what did I want to do, go back to the old style front loaders? Okay, I agreed. I would keep trying to make it work. And I did. To be fair, the clothes were coming out very clean, so I learned to live with the rest. But it was still loud and ran forever. I mean, people visiting would ask, "My word! What is that noise?" And I would joke it was the airplane taking off in my laundry room. Finally, after 17 months (5 months after the warranty expired) it began making a knocking sound too. A little research showed me that the bearings or spider had gone bad, and that they had most likely been bad from the beginning which was why the washer was so loud and slow. Sure enough, shortly after the sound began the inner tub ground right through the outer tub and the washer was ruined. It was then the weird, hard sell made sense, the insistence that only one machine could have possibly filled my needs, the assurance that the machine's problems were normal. I believe they knew the washer was defective but saw I was desperate and took the opportunity to sell me a lemon. That kind of nonsense would never happen at a big box store. It's a shame because I really do like to shop local, however Hooker is one local store I will never use again. read more
