First is the lake itself -a gorgeous 29-acre pond with a strip of sandy beach front, grassy shaded picnic area, benches and swings. On the other side of the road is a forest with a network of forest trail walks. The trail is mostly flat and made of crushed stone. We parked by the main entrance at the beach and headed north on the well marked Main Trail before we peeled off to the right to walk the Loop Trail which eventually rejoined the Main Trail and took us back to our car. It was peaceful and tranquil today as the only other soul we saw was a young lady jogging along to her music. It was gorgeous out there- the trees were bare of leaves in preparation of the inevitable harsh winter and we agreed it was one of the better hikes we'd had in a while. One cool thing we saw on the Loop Trail was a humongous boulder off on the side of the trail. It appears on the trail map as (you guessed it) "Boulder".

As other reviewers wrote, the area is very no frills. My 2 complaints were 1) the bath House was not open so we used the port-a-johns. They looked like they had not been cleaned out in months. All 4 were vile. 2) there were no signs about rules of the lake. Our children were using tubes and a plastic kayak. After 3 hours of using them by the beach, we were then reprimanded for using these items in the swimming/ ropes off area. Just wish that there was a sign that informed us as to what was and not allowed. Overall, had a wonderful day.

Down side... dump station and fresh water refill were closed. We had to travel 25 minutes and pay $10 to dump! Also Warning!!!!!.....TAKE EVERYTHING WITH YOU OR LOCK IT ALL UP IF YOU LEAVE FOR THE DAY. We spent a day sightseeing and came back to all of our wood, our tablecloth, tablecloth clips..all gone. We almost left our camp chairs and table behind but luckily decided to pack them and take with us for the day. So this is a family friendly campground and during the week we had no problem but obviously some low-life thieves came for Saturday night. Put a damper on our last day of vacation. Usually people who camp are cool but you always get a couple of jerks. Just beware. So updating my review. We found the thieves. They're so stupid they had our stuff out in the open. Anyway confronted them (they said they thought we had left... Really? So you take our stuff before 7 PM and then you don't say anything when we return ....and you're right across the street ??wow!!) . Hopefully they won't steal next time! they're back at this campground

Fantastic fly fishing class experience! Tristan was…read moreexceedingly knowledgeable, talented and patient with us beginners. We were fitted in our waders and boots and followed him to a few spots. While they were tricky to into their water in a couple, the result was thrilling! I caught 11 fish while my husband only 2, but one of his was a really nice sized trout. I highly recommend this spot for lessons. Thank you!!

Had a half day one-on-one this Mem Day Weekend, busy day, warm (not great) conditions, and still…read morehooked onto several trout thanks to the skilled and knowledgeable guide, Tristan, who was the most patient guy and a great teacher. Agree with the commenter who said you're treated with respect -- a great experience. And the river and locations are beautiful. First thing we saw was an osprey carrying a trout (spotted by Tristan).
