Since we booked this last minute, we didn't have much time to check reviews. Having done several excursions across the Caribbean, this one felt the least hospitable. The crew was quiet, offering little to no information about the mangroves or surrounding islands, we had to keep asking questions just to learn anything. The boat itself was in need of maintenance, with exposed, cracked cushions showing wear from the sea and sun. To our surprise, snorkeling gear came at an extra charge upon check-in, despite the website advertising it as part of the price. To top it off, there was no music on the boat, making the experience feel dull and uninspired. As for the snorkeling, the spot we were dropped at had barely any coral reefs or fish. When we asked about it, we were told that if we swam further, we'd find artificial reefs, not exactly what we were looking for. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that didn't live up to expectations. read more

We booked with Hook'd on Adventure Parguera for the sunset and bioluminescence tour. The location is perfect with restaurants, music, public restrooms and convenient parking. We were warmly greeted and walked through the evening plans. Our captain was attentive and very knowledgeable of the area, sharing information about the fish and land around us. We were docked in a sand bar and allowed to get out and swim with tarpon fish! That was incredible. Our family snorkeled and swam and watched the sun set beautifully on the west coast. As we traveled to the bay after the darkness fell, we were offered life jackets and pool noodles to float in the dark bay. Our captain explained what we were seeing and why it happens there. Our best view was under the hull of the boat. Having adult children they were very impressed by this phenomenon. I highly recommend bringing extra towels and dry clothes, especially if you are eating post boat ride. read more

I've been on two trips with Hook'd on Adventure and both have been amazing. On the last trip, with Captain Nicole, we saw an eagle ray and tarpons while we were swimming before the biobay tour. When it was dark we headed over to the biobay and had a magical experience! It was almost a new moon and so easier to see the bioluminescence. Captain Nicole was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all our question and give a great tour of the mangroves and biobay. The trip was the sunset tour, and included drinks, including the amazing rum capri suns that I love from PR. I'll def be going back again next time i visit! This is a must do for us during our visits there. read more

Literally the coolest thing I have ever done. Went during the offseason so it was relatively quiet at the mangrove sand bar we visited before hitting the bio bay. The bio bay alone was worth every penny, our guide was knowledgeable and very friendly answering any questions and providing info about the area and history of both La Parguera and the bay itself. I felt like a kid again being able to swim in the bay. All fear of being in the ocean at night evaporates as the dinoflagellates (the bacteria) start glowing as it turns to night and light up all around you. It's truly a magical experience. read more

Booked the four hour day charter for our anniversary. Just the two of us and our captain, Nicole. We were early and she got us going as soon as she was ready. The boat was very comfortable with a sun shade (so needed) and a cooler to put some beer in. We went to a completely deserted atoll where we snorkeled our hearts out. Some fun fish and coral viewing, the water was clear and warm. Nicole then sussed out that we were eager to chill vs another snorkel spot so she brought us to a shallow, sandy area where we bobbed around with cerveza until we were too pruned. Still having some time, she motored around the mangrove areas for us to relax. Great time and good fun, highly recommended. read more

We did both the snorkeling, and the bioluminescence bay tours with Hook'd - we booked the bioluminescence bay and we were so happy with Captain Nicole and the whole experience, that we booked the snorkeling with them that night. In both cases, Captain Nicole was just the best. She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. She knows a lot about the area and the history of it. The sea life, the stars if you're lucky enough to go on a cloudless night. We had a great time snorkeling, and she gave us numerous options for what snorkeling we'd prefer to do and really made this a pleasure. What a great adventure!! This is a MUST do if you are in Puerto Rico. We stayed in Condado but made the 2 hr trek to La Parguera for this Sunset/Biobay boat tour. (We actually made a day of it by seeing the beautiful mountains, Ponce, and Las Salidas on the way) Our boat ride through the bay was magical stopping to see the pelicans nesting in the mangroves and swimming in the crystal clear waters as the sun set. Our captain had drinks and floating devices on board. Then, the magic happened...our captain took us into the biobay where we were able to swim in the water. Little "sparks of glitter" were all over us as we swam and it will be one of those moments my kids and I will never forget. The captain even let us swim under the catamaran haul to go into a darker area where you could see better. It was amazing! I know I will think of the night often. If you are on the fence about going, I hope this review is the one that convinces you to go...you won't be disappointed!! read more

We did the Sunset and Bio Bay Tour with Brian and it was fantastic. First, Brian took us to a less crowed cay of mangroves, where we were able to swim and relax among the trees. At sunset, we went to the Bio Bay and Brian provided swim noodles to the kids and provided tips on how best to view the bioluminescence. He also gave us a little bit of history of where we were in La Parguera. We loved the small, intimate experience and overall we highly recommend this must-do tour. read more

I had the most amazing night ever with Nicole during this tour. I was supposed to originally attend with a friend however she chose to do a different activity so I was alone. To my surprise when I got to the boat I saw that I was the only one on the tour that night! Instead of canceling Nicole graciously allowed me to continue with the tour and provided me with the best experience ever! We started off at a small island, Caracoles where we were able to interact with other boaters who gathered at the shallow part of the water to watch the sunset. That part of the tour in itself was magical! Caracoles Island is fantastic and Nicole having grown up in the area was very knowledgeable about the land and how it had changed over the years and due to hurricanes and whatnot so I got to learn some things as I swam in the beauty. Once it was pretty much near dark we took the boat over to the bioluminescent Bay which was like entering an enchanted forest or magical land from far ago. It was completely dark and the bioluminescent algae were very visible it was by far the most fantastic experience I've had! she let me know that this is the only place in Puerto Rico where you can actually swim with a bioluminescent algae and it was worth every bit. the water was very warm and the saltiness made a buoyant so it was easy to float so the night time swim wasn't so intimidating. and once you see the algae start to light up all your fears are going to go away anyway by the magical experience. I'm very glad that I chose this tour to experience the bioluminescent Bay and you should absolutely book yourself a tour as well! We had a great time with Nicole and her family's company. They were courteous and polite, and it was very educational. It was also very reasonably priced, and their facility was very nice. The sunset on the atoll was incredible, and the boat they used was the perfect size. I loved how they only have 6 people per boat at the most, so when we went to mangroves where the bioluminescence was, it was just us which was great. We went there because even though it was little longer, it was completely secluded and quiet, and no big crowds, When we came back in, the other company came in with a big boat and a ton of people, and this experience is something you want to do with as little people as possible, because it is so amazing. I called to inquire about the sunset bio bay tour and was assisted by a extremely helpful woman who helped me figure out the logistics of my trip from the San Juan area. Despite advanced planning to make sure we arrived to the tour on time, we unfortunately had a flat tire on the way that delayed our trip and caused us to miss the departure time. I was shocked to hear that the captain would be able to come back to meet us at the dock when we were scheduled to arrive. Absolutely give this tour a 5 star review! Nicole gave perfect instructions on where to find her store/launch point. The boat we had was clean and Nicole packed a cooler of ice filled with drinks. The sunset portion was incredible as we went to a little spot where we could swim and watch the sunset in calm 4-5 ft water, which was so relaxing! Then we headed over to the bio bay which was only about a 10 min boat ride. We then got to get in the water and watch the magical sparkles as we moved around in the water. We got to swim for another 30-45 min in the bio bay and greatly enjoyed this special moment. The only bio bay where you can actually swim in PR. Throughout the tour Nicole gave us valuable information the on areas we would be exploring the remainder of our trip. This is a must do tour while in PR! read more

This was such a magical experience and one of the highlights of our vacation! We planned it around the moon to have optimum darkness, and luckily it was a a very clear night. Our captain was Nicole, she is from the area and really fun to talk with! We did the night tour (not sunset) and It took about 15 mins to get to the bay. Once we got there we could already see the dinoflagellates doing their thing. We jumped in and the water was warm, and the glowing was brilliant! I read this was the least brightest of the bays in PR, if this is true I cannot even imagine how bright the others are, because this one was absolutely stunning! If you're concerned about hurting the organisms by swimming with them, don't wear any oils, sunscreen, or lotions to protect them. I would highly recommend this company 1000 percent! read more

LOVED this experience!!! We had Nicole as our guide, and she was kind, knowledgeable, and fun. This is a magical experience that truly cannot be described. La Parguera is one of the coolest Bio Bays because you can actually still swim in it. Also we swam through some mangroves, which was an incredibly powerful and beautiful experience. If you are in Puerto Rico, definitely do this tour!! And there are many groups that can take you out, but I thought Hook'd on Adventure was a really easy, friendly, and helpful company to go with.
