The tour guide, Jim, gave us his back the ENTIRE tour.

RACIST COMPANY! Not even worth 1 star. Horrible and disappointing experience. The ~1 hour boat tour that was $25/pp, was advertised in English. We bought the tickets from someone who spoke to us in English. So fair for us to expect the tour to also be in English, right? Walter, the boat captain, knew we didn't understand Spanish as he gave the safety instructions in Spanish and then in English for my party of 4, which included my 2yr old toddler. However, when the tour started, Jim, the tour guide, was only speaking in Spanish. When I KINDLY went to the captain and tour guide and asked if they were going to speak in English too, they looked at each other and gave a little "is she serious?" laugh. Then the captain, Walter, shrugged and pointed to Jim, the tour guide, as if it was his call. The tour guide, never looking me in the eyes, didn't say anything to me but said something in Spanish to Walter, who then said "ok." It was very obvious Jim, the tour guide, did not want to give the English translation of the tour. The whole time that he spoke, his back was turned against us, as we sat in the back of the boat where the covering was (as we had a toddler with us). Not one time did he position himself so we could hear him. I repeat, the tour guide's back was turned against us the entire time. Then he would say a bunch of sentences in Spanish and when it was time for the English translation, he would say 1-2 sentences. After ~20 minutes, the Captain, Walter, finally came to us and tried to apologize. If there was no foul play, the Captain wouldn't have come to apologize to us and say " I understand why you're upset." There is no excuse for this type of behavior. We spent $100 to be treated unequally and disrespectfully. When we got off the boat, we went to a man who we were told, by other staff of the company, was the owner to tell him about the awful experience. The man totally disregarded my husband and said he's only the owner's brother and there was nothing he could do about it. They all completely dismissed our experience as if we were NOTHING and we couldn't do anything about it. They just looked at us. We had NO Help out there! They took out $100 and mistreated us and there was nothing we could do about it, and they knew it. This was the WORST experience in La Parguera. This company is racist towards black people! I don't normally give reviews, but this was such a horrible and degrading experience that I must warn others. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE, especially if you are a non-Spanish speaking person of color. They will gladly take your money and metaphorically, spit in your face. Wish I could attach the video so you can get a real look at our experience, but I could only attach photos.

The crew was quiet, offering little to no information about the mangroves or surrounding islands, we had to keep asking questions just to learn anything. The boat itself was in need of maintenance, with exposed, cracked cushions showing wear from the sea and sun. To our surprise, snorkeling gear came at an extra charge upon check-in, despite the website advertising it as part of the price. To top it off, there was no music on the boat, making the experience feel dull and uninspired. As for the snorkeling, the spot we were dropped at had barely any coral reefs or fish. When we asked about it, we were told that if we swam further, we'd find artificial reefs, not exactly what we were looking for. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that didn't live up to expectations.

We were warmly greeted and walked through the evening plans. Our captain was attentive and very knowledgeable of the area, sharing information about the fish and land around us. We were docked in a sand bar and allowed to get out and swim with tarpon fish! That was incredible. Our family snorkeled and swam and watched the sun set beautifully on the west coast. As we traveled to the bay after the darkness fell, we were offered life jackets and pool noodles to float in the dark bay. Our captain explained what we were seeing and why it happens there. Our best view was under the hull of the boat. Having adult children they were very impressed by this phenomenon. I highly recommend bringing extra towels and dry clothes, especially if you are eating post boat ride.

I researched the main areas on the island to do it and chose this area because they tow the kayaks out so you don't have to paddle far. With little kids and doing it late at night, this was a factor for us. It did not regret my choice and this company did a great job! First off, we were late and they waited for us. Our group was 10 people and we headed out. It was a perfect night weather-wise as the sky was a bit cloudy, but you could also see the stars. The cove they take you to is quiet and calm, although there are other groups there. We got 1 hour of total time on the water, so you could split it up however you wanted. We kayaked for about 20 minutes and it was so cool, watching the glow everytime you paddled. There was a corridor leading out of the cove you could paddle to, but we decided not to do it, who knows if it would have been darker out there. We swam for the rest of the time and it did not get old. Splashing around the glow was incredible! You have life jackets on the whole time as it is pretty deep. They gave you drinks on the way back to enjoy!

We drive out on the boat about 15 minutes all black surrounding us. We get somewhere towards the middle and the guide is all like okay go. The wave of awkward silence gripped us. Because, Go? Go where? Certainly not in this pitch black ocean/sea/bay/river or wherever we were lol. It took the 8 of us a minute to trust it. Life jackets required and stay no further then 5 feet from the boat. A guy went first and we watched. Then my daughter. Then me cuz well, my daughter lol. It was a great and fun experience waving around watching the plankton glow with our movements. Waving water over our limbs they lit up like ethereal glitter. We all swam on top of one another remarking Primo/Prima (cousins) because we were all too scared to go out further or spread too wide. It's a pitch black water experience and you don't know what's in the water or around you. The stars were absolutely beautiful with the lack of light in the area. They too refused to be filmed. Divas. I respect it. It forced us to live in the moment instead. Forced us to store the excitement, joy and experience in our minds and hearts. He let us swim 20 minutes. After the first 10 we were too overjoyed to be scared. There were after all, 8 of us in the water at that point. We swam close and near the boat and did weird movements to catch the plankton in a good glow. The guide was experienced over 30 years and very cool and relaxed. He was trustworthy and I say worth every penny. Even if you can't get photos you get the experience. It was one of my favorite experiences of all. Absolutely worth it.

The parking is a public area and you have to walk a little bit, but it's not bad! It's about $10 per person, but worth every penny! Go on a darker night for sure!!! This is a must if you are visiting the south side of the island.
