Obtaining the services of a real estate agent is much more than "finding someone to sell your…read morehome". This is especially true if you are selling an inherited property as I was earlier this year. A good real estate agent will know the area, know the laws and rules and will help assess your home and get it listed and sold for a "good price". A great real estate agent is a counselor, a partner in your effort, someone who "has your back" throughout the process in addition to doing all of the real estate work. Philippa Main is an *outstanding* real estate agent and an even better person. My father passed away leaving a home in Woodbridge, Virginia - the home in which I grew up and which contained almost 50 years of possessions. I contacted Philippa in March of 2026 to discuss its potential sale even as the house was in significant disarray while I engaged in the slow process of cleaning it out and sorting through the many things my parents had accumulated over the years. When she visited the home, I looked around and threw up my hands. Philippa looked around and said, "we can make this happen." I sought her out specifically because she mentioned having expertise in sales of homes that are inherited - a particular niche that involves a delicate dance of handling family dynamics, wills, probate laws and determining what, if any, money should be put into renovations or improvements that will get a reasonable return on the investment. From our first conversation over the phone - which she took time to do in the middle of a busy weekend - Philippa was incredibly personable, easy to talk to and anticipated many of my questions and many of my concerns as we talked. By the end of our conversation, I felt like I was chatting with a friend who had expertise I needed. Over the following three months, she was a (rapidly-responded-to) text or phone call away as I navigated getting the house ready for sale. She helped outline a schedule and a plan to list the home. She connected me with a large network of trusted service providers from junk removers to contractors to painters to flooring experts from whom I obtained estimates and some of whom I contracted to help clear out the house and prepare it for sale. While she always reiterated that she would back any decision I made regarding the house, I always sought her counsel when making major decisions such as whether or not to spend money on renovations and, if so, which ones were most important. Of course, there were obstacles - some amusing, some less-so - but Philippa helped me handle each one with a confidence borne of having "seen it before". That is an incredibly valuable thing when dealing with a stressful situation. In the end, the home was listed in June and had nearly seventy showings in three days. The house sold for well over its asking price and after all of it I know some things: The home could have been sold by another agent. But few, if any, others could have been a partner in the process the way Philippa was for me. She was a trusted resource, a confidant, a person who knew when to inject humor into a situation and when helping me vent was what was needed - she understands people and the process of selling an inherited home in addition to being a brilliant real estate agent who knows the area and who knows how to get the job done. I couldn't recommend her more for ANY real estate work but, especially, if you face the task of preparing and selling an inherited property.

I must say this has been the best experience ever using a realtor!…read more I looked on line for a realtor after much research - Jennifer Dorn of Berkshire Realty World Select in Dumfries came highly recommended!! She came fully prepared to earn my business and I met with the intention of going in a different direction. She gave me market comparisons so that I would have realistic expectations of selling my home - which sold in 23 days! She used her own stager, staged my home, took plenty of photos and held two open houses! I was very pleased and grateful for her service. When it came time for me to purchase a home the entire team at the Dumfries location assisted me, when we met in her office I was surprised and please with how helpful the other realtors where with finding me properties. It was like working with a family of realtors I felt I had a team of people! Jennifer Dorn and her team in the Dumfries office found me a home in three days, she guided me for the perfect offer and I live there today! This deserves ZERO STARS!!!!…read more Property Management is the WORST!!!! Everything that was to be taken care of prior to us signing lease agreement and moving in was not. The water, electricity and gas were supposed to be turned on and the house was supposed to be professionally cleaned. We were told everything was taken care of when we picked up the keys. We arrive at the house and it's CLEARLY not been professionally cleaned, the water and gas were still not turned on. The "professional cleaner" according to property management was there for 5hours the day prior.....well how do you clean a house esp bathrooms without any water?!? I'd love to know. The toilets were disgusting! Turning on the water was just a matter of a phone call for us, so I really don't see why it wasn't done for us. Honestly, Amy Kaye (the property manager) is probably the laziest person I've encountered. We called her to inform her of our situation once we got in the house and she said she would stop by in about an hour to take a look. 3 hours later, we call her and she says "oh I won't be able to come by" due to personal/family issues. As a professional, we should have received a phone call informing us of the situation. The lock box is still on our house and neither garage remotes work.....which we have informed them of and they have yet to take care of. In my opinion, the lock box should have been taken off when we signed the lease-it does not feel safe that anyone who knows how to access that lock box could enter our home. Another thing-the gas company couldn't come til 2 days later to turn our gas on. We informed Amy Kaye of that as well so she said she'd send someone that day to light the water heater since we are not allowed to do it ourselves......did anyone show up at all? NO! Did we get a phone call from anyone? NO! Luckily for us, the gas guy was nice enough to do it for us even though he's technically not supposed to. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EXPERIENCED! Absolutely lazy and I don't believe a single word that comes out of their mouth. I don't believe they care or take responsibility for their work. You're in the business of managing and maintaining properties......maybe you should start doing your job! Everyone I have encountered at this office, including he real estate agent side, have all been extremely RUDE!!!!!!

He was polite, professional, and friendly. His report was very thorough with pics of the inside and outside of my home. He was able to pull and compare my home with others in my area to get an accurate and true appraisal. And he had such a fast turn around time in providing the report. His prices were at least $100 less than the other companies I called. You can't go wrong with selecting his company for your needs.
