Both my husband and I work full time and needed to find someone to keep mom company and get her familiar with her PT/OT exercises, help with bathing and cooking. It took a couple different care givers until we found the right match but Pete personally introduced each one to my mom. They provided care to her for over 6 months until her husband could move here- they were a real blessing to our family. Sure we had a couple no shows and a few problems here and there but Pete was on it and dealt with everything professionally- Connie too (in the office) is wonderful. I think the key is great communication and being reasonable- and you have to ask for what you need! Pete was available evenings and weekends always to take a call- Where do you find that kind of service today? We also use Pete professionally through my job and he is a great vendor to work with and he and his staff go out of their way to be accommodating. They did a wonderful job of meeting all of her needs while I was gone, and also had consistent communication so that I know she was doing well.. When I returned, I have used their services one day a week while taking care of errands and appointments. I have also used them for an occasional night out, and for 3-4 day respite periods. I never worry when they are on the job. The care giver that comes to my home is so reliable, capable and responsible. She takes care of changing the bed, fixing meals, laundry, house cleaning, even walking the dog. If there is ever a problem, that worker has the rest of the Angels of America team she can call upon. Not only do they do a wonderful job taking care of me, my mother, and Charlie the dog, they also are like extended family. They were part of the celebration of my mother's 102nd birthday, they were ready to help when my brother died, and every member of the team takes an interest in how my mother is doing. So different from the previous big agency that I used whose main (and only?) interest was the bottom line. I am so glad that I found Angels of America Home Care. They are the right support that I need in this job of caring for my mother.

Before talking about the larger problems, I want to make sure the people who actually care for residents are acknowledged. Michael is one of the most compassionate CNAs I've encountered. He is sensitive, kind, and dependable. Residents feel safe with him because he treats people with patience and genuine respect. In an environment where people are often vulnerable and relying on others for help, that kind of empathy makes a real difference. Steven also deserves strong recognition. He is not afraid of hard work and consistently does his job well. What stands out most is the way he helps residents feel comfortable about their bodies during very vulnerable moments. Personal care situations can be awkward or embarrassing, but Steven handles them with professionalism and respect, which preserves people's dignity. Demetrius is another staff member who clearly works extremely hard. He is constantly moving--running up and down the halls at what feels like the speed of light trying to help wherever needed.
