Tucked away from Zeil street, this place may go unnoticed. I bookmrked this place and always…read moreforgot about it because its in some creepy side street. Sorry!! forgive the fact that my picture is of food half eaten! I was exhausted after a long day and I just decided to eat in (minus the fact that there was a long wait and a small dining space) . Still jet lagged and starved I completely did not realize until I was 5 bites in - that the ShoMai was HUMONGOUS... and they were very good too. The shrimp dumplings, same deal... HUGE. Definitely on my come back list.

Munich has one or two places that serve some but pretty ordinary and so, I was excited to discover this one. The menu here is mostly yum cha or, dim sum as some would call it. They make everything in house and it comes out steaming from the kitchen. They have most of the classic dishes and a couple of creations i have not seen before. They don't have carts going around like the big places in HK but, they do have the same paper menu cards where you can mark what you want. They refill your tea here for no extra charge, a practice similar to most classic yum cha places. We ordered a few dishes to share and they have a small choice of vegetarian items as well. Most of the dishes tasted good and whilst not exactly like they do in HK but good. The BBQ pork was great, prawn dumplings good and the mushroom dumplings were really good. Service is very quick and friendly and the place was packed by the time we left. The majority of diners were Asian, a positive sign. Prices are a bit high but I would happily pay for the quality. Definitely a place I would come back to for Sunday yum cha :-) It's a place hidden away in the back of a shopping plaza behind the Westin hotel. No signs on the street telling you where this is. A lovely find in town :-))

I would say 3.5 stars and so I rounded up to 4 stars. I will be perfectly honest and can't say…read morethis place is good or my ancestors would nod their head in utter disappointment. Since we are living in wiesbaden, I've already accepted the fact that there is no way we can get traditional Chinese food. Wannabe chinese food? Yep-- this place is decent and the price is definitely fair. They have all the major staple dishes that you'll see at a Chinese takeout place. The people who work there speak mandarin as they work, German to their customers, and some of them understand English. I was surprised with how clean everything was- the floors, ceilings, and the furniture look like they are new or in very good condition. It's not a hole in the wall place like you typically picture in Manhattan. I ordered the beef, chicken and veggie pan fried noodles because it's hard to mess that up. The portion was huge and could easily be split. My husband got some fried chicken with sweet and sour pineapple sauce. The fried chicken tasted good, but it was more of a Chicken Katsu rather than your traditional sweet and sour chicken pieces where each individual piece is deep fried in a thick batter. The sauce was more like a duck sauce with pineapple chunks in it. It didn't taste bad, but it just wasn't what we expected it to taste like... I still miss traditional shao long bao, oyster pancakes, and various dim sum dishes.... but one perk is that they have spring rolls here. Ohh and they have a green fanta drink here- it's exotic fruit flavor. It is definitely a mix between passion fruit and red bull. I kinda liked it. Ni Hao is probably better than any Panda Express back in the states, so I can see it being appealing for many people. So if i ever pass through again and I need to choose between the KFC, McDonald's, or Ni Hao. I would definitely be saying, "Ni Hao" to my peeps at Ni Hao!
