I LOVE Farmers Markets like totally love them! And this one does not diappoint, its definitly one…read morethat does more food than crafts but there are stalls that sell things like artwork, bicycles and strange furniture made out of curved wood. Other than that you can get fresh bread, fruit and veg, lots of yummy cakes and there are even gluten free cakes which is so good when I am visiting coeliac friends, you can get them something different to the normal boring fare they are offered in supermarkets. The last good thing about this market is its beautiful surroundings of the craft centre courtyard in Marlay park, all around the stalls are the lovely stone walls of the local craft shops, so quaint!

The setting of Marlay Park is just so gorgeous to begin with and is enough to draw anyone to it,…read morebut if you're bored on a Saturday I definitely suggest checking out the farmers market before grabbing a spot on the grass. They've got local food merchants selling all kinds of things from crepes to jams, etc. Everything smells so good it's so hard to know where to begin. They've also got some crafty sort of stalls, which are great for a unique gift for a friend's birthday. I have to admit that my favourite stall is the used book one. I got a JD Salinger book there for a euro!! I can't pass a book store without lusting after half the books in the shop, but when they come with such a great price tag I really can't help myself. I'm just upset that I need bus fare home otherwise I would have bought more!

I vacation in Ireland every summer, staying in the next village over from Dun Laoghaire, Sandycove…read more(where Joyce Tower of Ulysses fame is located), and at least one visit to this Sunday market is always a must. A lovely setting, in The People's Park, near the waterfront of Dun Laoghaire. I do have to say, I think it was better years ago when there were more produce vendors and it was more of a farmers market. Now it is 90% prepared food stalls, a few artists, and only a couple of produce vendors. But the food is good and varied, with many ethnic goodies to try. There is an excellent cheese vendor (Irish cheeses are amazing!), a wood-fired Neopolitan pizza, and you are pretty close to the famous Teddy's of Dun Laoghaire ice cream shop to get your "99" fix. AH, MEMORIES: I remember one farmer was selling wine he made from his own grapes. Yes, Irish wine!!! Admittedly, the Sauvignon Blanc tasted like grape juice, but I still have the empty bottle with a lovely hand-colored label. My Mom had her first ever raw oyster (from Galway) here. I almost had to force it down her throat, but she loved it. The vendor no longer comes here, but every year when I visit her in Ireland we have to go out for some great Irish oysters. But she still eats only one!

I can't explain how much I love food markets, and this is one of the best ones!…read more On a busy day this reminds me of Camden Market in London, great vibes and even better food. There's always a great mix of people around the place, a really relaxed atmosphere and, the cherry on top for me, it's right beside the sea! The food selection here is great, you can find anything from Indian to Japanese and everything in between! The last time I was here I got an Italian-style Gourmet Sausage and a freshly made doughnut, both of which were absolutely delicious. We did have to queue for quite a while but it's so pleasant out here that nobody seems to mind. I could talk about this place all day but I'll only make myself hungry. Seriously, get yourself out there end eat yourself silly!!

Came here hopping to get some ingredients with a mate, and didn't find all we needed…read more Not a larger selection as promised, but overall a great place to buy some good food. All the vendors are super friendly and love to make conversation! Great way to spend a morning! The ambiance is very quaint and friendly! Overall a great atmosphere and way to buy. Will come here for certain vegetables and lunch when I'm in the city

Thank you for the recommendation, Fodor's! (yes, I bought their travel guide like a true tourist.)…read more My friends and I wanted to try some Ireland oysters because we heard they were supposedly super fresh. We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!

Every morning on the way to work I was distracted by signs advertising the market in Glasnevin…read moretaking place each Saturday and Sunday. It sounded great-on from 10-5pm on Saturday, 11-5pm on Sunday; food/fashions/knick knacks.... Unfortunately the reality was not quite as I had envisaged. My first reactions were-"where is it?", followed by "is THIS it?!?". A couple of lonely stalls placed in an industrial park car park looking forlorn. So few people were around that I could barely pluck up the courage to check them out. The advertisements also mentioned a covered section....this was basically a few small shops (discount clothing, coffee etc) in a small mall. Special mention to "TK Micks" for the amusing name though! I was mildly excited by the discovery of Henshaws butchers because they put together two of my favourite words-"discount + meat"....but it's basically just a little meat shop/Portakabin. Advantage? It's across the road from Glasnevin Lidl which is a nice one. If you want to do your shopping there, the market might be worth a look. They may also get some more stalls-I notice they are advertising for more stall holders on the website. Right now, it's not worth going out of your way!

I have been to the "Glasnevin Market " on quiet a few occasions and i would have to say I find it…read morequiet pleasurable.. Maybe Grainne you just caught it on a bad day.. I have purchased quiet a few items from "TK Micks"(Tracksuits, Runners,T-Shirts) and he is quiet a charming man, so helpful. I have also got my house blinds supplied & fitted by a lovely man from one of the stalls outside, and would have to say I couldn't be happier with the end result..( I also noticed the was a man beside him that supplied and fitted radiator covers & I think he also fitted wardrobes and kitchens) On the way in to the market there are 3 or 4 stalls right at the front that do a wide range of things...fresh fruit and veg...household items(toiletries, detergent, cleaning stuff) & there was a lot of children's toys and household gadgets on another!!! Fresh homemade cakes, handmade glass, second hand books and DVDs, Cd's... There is also a large stall that sells Make Up, Gift sets, and a mix of beauty products... I cant think off hand what else is there, Oh Fresh Flower's a mini market( milk, crisps biscuits, tin foil, candles garden stuff, household..) & I'm sure there's a man that sells Boxing, Tennis, and more sports stuff.. So I would say there is a WIDE variety of stalls, and I would have to say the stall holders are ever so nice.. There is also a lovely cafe that has delicious scones, and hot and cold food.. I would say its well worth a look...
