This is a horrible school and no one should waste their time attending here. I want to specifically highlight the instructors. I attended this school in the evening and most of the instructors are fine but there are a couple that make attending this school a complete nightmare. One instructor that is Filipino should not be employed at this school and it's a miracle she's still there. She doesn't teach period. She just gives the students paper assignments and then proceeds to stare at her phone the entire time, completely unprofessional and is a waste of students' tuition money. They sent me an email that only said "Certificates" with nothing attached. I called 5 times now letting them know this and they said, "We will send it again right away." ...and nothing. I am giving five stars because I am a happy student overall. The teachers I've had for theory and clinicals have been very helpful and thorough. Dr. Uy, Ms. Bringas, Mr. Sadang, Ms. Azinge, Mr. Caniete are the teachers I've had so far and they are great instructors. Each have their own style of teaching and I have learned a lot from all of them. The DON, Ms. Adel, is nice and she reaches out to the students. If we had any concerns she would address it. My advice to anyone interested is come see for yourself. Don't judge just based on negative reviews on yelp. They give you a good amount of time to decide wether you want to commit to the program or not before you sign the contract with the school. I like the fact that they have flexible schedules for people who are working just like me. They offer full time and part time schedules. Also the staff is nice too. I finished vn program last June.. I have read so many review regarding the instructors and stuff...I would say some of them are exaggerated... Cons: - most of the clinical site are long term/rehab facility. It's a good thing and a bad thing I guess. It's a good thing because if you get your license as a lvn, you'll pretty much be working in these kind of facilities although some of us (students) would love to further our career and advance to become RNs...and having to experience psych, peds or maternity would help a lot. - Inconsistency. My batch had a huge huge issue with this. The school is very lenient to their student that sometimes we forget that there are rules. Often times some of our classmates will ask if they can reschedule the exam and stuff like that... and of course the school will be okay with that... ends up, the student will procrastinate and still ends up failing the exam. - Lack of resources. A lot of times when we are not in our clinical sites, we are in school doing skills lab. There will be times when the instructor would need something like a gauze or catheter and there will be no material available in lab. Also, I noticed that the supplies in the skills lab are not organize, making it hard for the students and instructors to look for what they need in that specific skills lab presentation. PROS: - The instructors are nice. I attended the night class and I was lucky enough to have wonderful instructors like .... MR.JUGO, MR.TACONDONG, MS.PAPA, MR.VILLANUEVA, MS.BRINGAS, and MS.DORIS. I never had issue with them, they are really helpful both in theory and clinicals. Although everyone has their own way of teaching, they were able to managed to teach us the necessary things/materials that would help us to be successful in this field. - PRACTICE EXAMS. I hated this part of the program but I realized that taking time to do the practice exam helped me boost my grade and be familiarized with what type of questions will I be having when i take my board exam. The school encourage their student to help themselves as well by doing practice test with our laptop (provided by the school), and ipad. This is not a bad school. I am sad to sad I had a horrible experience and am not a pleased customer. I signed up to get some CEs, I already have my license and in order to renew I need to do a "continuing education" course. The one I signed up for was online and the process to sign up and take the exam was fairly easy. But, in order to renew my license I need the certificate of completion from the school. Per the schools website it should only take about 5-7 days before it arrives in the mail. It has been nearly a month, I have not received anything from the the office, even though I have called and emailed multiple times. I have left numerous voicemails, yet no one has reached out to me. Even when I sought out to attempt to contact someone to find out how to get a refund, no one is contacting me. At this point, I am considering myself a victim of fraud. read more

I came across these reviews, and they made me pretty reluctant about enrolling, but I figured I would call the school myself; maybe they would prove me wrong. I WAS WRONG. For starters, I spoke to a female receptionist. After speaking with her, I was able to learn about the general tuition cost, $28,500, along with classes starting sometime in Fall. As I proceeded to try and ask more questions regarding requirements to enroll, she said she would transfer me to a counselor. I then spoke to a male counselor. He answered the phone with a very abrupt hello, and after briefly explaining my questions, he answered them in a very rude, condescending manner. He was all over the place with his answers, and he sounded very rushed... After asking him to clarify, he repeated his answers very sarcastically and said he would just e-mail me the information. I made this call last week. I still haven't received any e-mails. After that phone call, this school wasn't feeling promising at all. I took three online continuing education courses for dentistry. The order service was prompt and the phone staff was polite. However, the course materials were poorly edited, redundant, and confusing. The articles in the courses were published in 1999 so the data predated the text by at least five years. The reason for taking a continuing education course is to get updated information rather than reviewing what was learned in professional school. With all the technology and new research that is available, why study old news? Their online course evaluation form has a server error so I was unable to express by feedback directly to the source. read more

Nurse Aid/Nurse Assistant Course Review. I will start off with the program. I took the 13-weekend class, 6 hours/theory, and 8 hours/clinical per day. The price I think was around $800, which includes the book, clinical, etc. I thought it was fairly priced, honestly. Everything taught during the course was by-the-book and up-to-date, and is aimed to pass the state exam. As far as reviewing the instructors, I would say some are great and some aren't. Which is usually the case anyhow, but it does affect the student. Given the right instructor, you'd definitely pass the course with flying colors. However, if in case you get an instructor who isn't as good in teaching as the others, I say you just have to do your part and be a better student for yourself and just study more. Re-read the chapters and ask questions. In the end, you alone can affect the outcome of your work. The materials and equipments during lab/skills were ok. They lack some of the necessary equipments to show skills, which affects most students, especially the visual-learners. They may need to check up on that, and restock. The storage were messy, and requires constant cleaning. They allow students to come in and practice with the mannequins during weekdays, and the students most often doesn't clean up after themselves and just shove everything in the closet. It needs work. The clinical was good. It could be better. If they can target specific lesson per clinical day. During clinical, we went in the facility and shadows a CNA or do the procedures ourselves without targeting specific skills. There are days that I ended up doing bed bath, feed, and hygiene for straight two weeks, and not get a hands-on experience on a different skill. The merit though is that we learn how it actually works in a facility. To close, I think the program is good. It also depends on the student if they want to succeed or not. It's a hit and miss with the instructors, but you have to put in the effort. I was able to take the earliest schedule for the state exam and passed, and it's thanks to the instructors, the program, re-reading, and YouTube videos. read more

Completed the LVN Program, now a Licensed Nurse. For the most part I did what I had to do to pass and stay on track with this fast paced program. Do what you got to do but beware of some shady instructors always on witch hunt think because your a student you are vulnerable to how they can grade you. I experienced bullying and seen discrimination in my program from instructors including Mr.T and Mrs.V which I didn't speak of because I wanted no problems, here I am warning you of their unprofessional ways. This school is awful when it comes to graduating. My daughter finished her 12 months LVN course and passed the test and they still would not give her the paperwork to move on to the nclex. We paid their money and did everything we were supposed to do. Now we are at 5 months later and still holding her papers. We have complained to the board of education and they have helped us. But now they are saying she waited too long and are holding her papers until she finishes the review class. This is so ridiculous!!!! It's their fault she waited too long being that she graduated in June and did not giver her paperwork to submit until end of September and the only review class is in November!!!! First of all, they do not teach the curriclum very well, then they expect you to pass the exit ati exit exam, when most of that stuff is not what you were taught. They wait until the classes are almost over, then slap you with an outrageous bill that they expect you to pay within a few weeks prior to graduation. They make you believe that the owner of the company actually cares to help you, but VJ will not be bothered by you!!! The school says that you can make payments on your balance that was not covered by financial aid, as long as you sign a promissary note, not completely true!!! VJ descriminates agains certain people and if your kind is not one of them, he will allow you to make payments. If anyone is thinking about attending this school, DON"T, you will regret it!!!! To begin my experience, I was given luckily a wonderful instructor who was prepared in all aspects; work & education force. The instructor that I had was very helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind, and always looked out for the students best interest. Which as a student makes the experience that much more enriching when it comes to taking step to beginning a career and being properly advised to it. During my time in the course I not only was able to obtain an educational study of the field, but was able to have hands on work-(Externship) which helped me tremendously to prepare for future work and applying for job opportunities. Lastly, once completed through the program as well as state testing, I am grateful that homestead has an admission and placement coordinator who looks out for the graduate students in both job placement and in the recommendation department, so when the time for graduation comes your are not alone and can still ask for guidance from that point. As to any school there are pros and cons, as for me it went well and the students I learned with made it a welcoming goal achieving environment, all students worked toward the same goals rather than against. I am thankful for the Instructor I had, the students I worked with, as well as the admissions & placement coordinator. read more

They're all about money. But how could you pass the exit exam or the nclex with some of the teachers not even being fluent in English. Half the time the teachers don't even show up and you end up having a sub who's clueless about the subject or even confused that they had to work that day. They're were days where the DON was unaware there was no teacher in the class room that we went almost the whole day without a teacher. Also the school itself is pretty dirty roaches and bugs , trash cans always full, fridges for your lunch full of mold, bathrooms always dirty sometimes with no toilet paper seat covers or soap! (They had no janitorial staff) They're very very unorganized ! They constantly LOSE important papers. They only give you two sets of uniform and expect you to buy your own if you need more. Two sets of uniform is definitely not enough unless you plan on doing laundry everyday. They take you to only convalescent homes which only has geriatric care aka old ppl homes. You'll be lucky to experience er, labor and delivery, psych, a hospital environment. Anyways before I get too carried away with all the cons it's still up to you. Yes they do give you a laptop, iPad, your books but what good is it if you don't have a good teacher. It is a fast pace program so expecting them to cover every little thing won't happen ! But they could at least provide good teachers to help you on things you're confused on when you do self teaching. One thing that would help this school a lot is to hire ppl that are more ORGANIZED ! The school is 28500 which is not bad but you get what you pay for. I would go to a school that charged a little more for a better education. TIPS make Filipino friends that speak Tagalog ! I took LVN program here and was on Batch 48 started February 5, 2014 for evening class from 4pm to 10pm for theory and 3pm to 11:30pm clinical. Teachers are really professional and had a very effective way of teaching as well as Clinical Instructors. I have no regrets going in this school. At the second term we received free laptop which helps me doing practice questions online at homesteadschools.net...I took my exit exam at first attempt an passed last Feb. 2015 and then took my NCLEX-exam last May 6, 2015 at the very first attempt and passed again. So much more happier when they gave me a reward of $500.00 and then another $100.00 after getting a job within one month once you get the license. What a very good motivation for me specially I am a mother of 3 children. I owe this to all teachers who are always there in my journey specially to Ms. Adel Blanco who do the NCLEX review. I will recommend this school to every people I know that wanted to go to school. I wish that they will have an LVN to BSN degree I will definitely enroll again. this school is AWFUL period. they dont even deserve a star. first off, they NEVER switch clinical sites. you could be at the same facility for almost your whole school year. all you do is nursing homes which isnt great because you get NO EXPERIENCE!!! all you do is pass meds. how the hell do they expect you to learn?! some of the teachers are good as some are horrible. they give out answers first of all, how do you learn something if its given to you right away? also the DON favorites filipino people. almost everyone who works here is filipino and they favorite their own people. which is a bunch of bull****. i dont even understand how this school is even open still?! they dont care whether you pass or fail, but theyre sure on their financial aid$$$. also the review from Jennifer, by far so hilarious. shes only married to the Financial Aid guy so i wouldnt believe all her fakeness in that review. point blank period, if you wanna get screwed over & no education at all, then enroll here !! thats exactly what theyre good at. read more
