Bayers Lake

Hello, I did…read morecurbside pick up today. I understand the current climate of the pandemic, but the employees of Linen Chest at Bayers Lake in Halifax NS can still be decent human beings. A pandemic is no excuse. I watched an older couple walk-out with a bag of items. So I automatically assumed, as there was no signage outside, it wouldn't be a big deal for me to walk in and pick up my order. First of all, I walked in and was NOT greeted. Instead, before I could walk pass the front mat. I heard," You gotta...."I could barely hear her, very muffled due to the mask she was wearing, hardly any eye contact, she pointed as if I had to wait in the entrance. So that's what I did. I waited for a few minutes to be asked, can I help you?, which never happened. Instead, I was ignored. I then said," Excuse me; I have an online order to pick up." Then the whole tone changed. I felt as if now, my presence was known, and I was no longer being ignored. She asked my name, and what it was I ordered, NOW I can hear her clearly because I already spent money I'm guessing. They put my four pillows on the counters. The other representative took the pillows and started walking towards me. I ask politely, " Do I take the pillows from you? "... Her reply was "Just open your trunk, so you don't get too close to me" that's fine, I respect that. But it's all in the tone. She put the pillows in my trunk, and walked away, before entering the store. She said," next time, just call the store." How about there will never be a next time, especially at that location. And have a nice day too... I've done multiple orders online to pick up in-store, from the grocery store, to home hardware, to furniture stores, and at Bed Bath And Beyond. NOTHING compares to the level of horrible service I've received today. I wonder if the couple before me and gentleman after received the same underwhelming level of customer service. If so, that's unfortunate. I was so distraught, I called my husband to cope with the anxiety that the whole situation created during my visit. Those two employees should be ashamed of their selves. I have never had such a great shopping experience as I had during my first visit to the Linen…read moreChest. I had assumed by their name they were just sheets and towels, so I didn't bother stopping in until recently. But no, they are much, much more than just linens. First, you are offered a hot beverage when you enter. We were also offered ham panini bites. I had tea, and Mike had hot chocolate and panini. They use the products they sell (in this case coffee maker and panini maker), so it's rather like a demo as well. Cleo was super helpful and informative while serving us. The store is deceptively huge. It looks smaller outside than it really is. Also, they have everything. Dinnerware. Glasses. Home decor. Kitchen appliances. Bedding. Mattresses. Window coverings. Exclusive lines. More knick-knacks than you can shake a stick at. And almost everything was on sale the day of our visit. I swear we spent an hour wandering through each section. Eventually we bought some glasses and a lotion dispenser (hush, it's a cool dispenser). The prices were awesome. I can't wait to return. This is my new first stop for all things homey.

You will have a choice of colors for different models and even fabric to choose from, I personally love leather. I like it because it does not wear as much and very easy to clean, and of course really nice leather is awesome to the touch. The sales people here are very helpful and usually know the different products to assist you. However, just like everywhere, there never seems to be enough of them. Lazy boy can be one of the more expensive brands to buy. I would suggest do your comparison shopping. However , keep in mind here, a lot of the product needs to be ordered in. So if you are going on a buy now day, your choice will be limited.

I went in to the store with the intention of just pricing out a few chairs, and getting a feel of…read morewhat I would want when the time came to purchase my own lazy-boy. Well from the minute you get in, you feel like a gazelle on the Serengeti.. stalked and hunted... Predator sales people with dollar signs in their eyes. Admittedly, the predator that finally caught me was pleasent in her picking apart of my carcass... she did point out that I would be suited for a certain type of chair for my extra height. But even after I did get the whole sales pitch from her, and got away.. she chased me down again with more information on a certain chair, and her card. Clearly a causality of the commission based sales structure, unfortunately, it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

But two minutes after being in the store they dimmed the lights to an absurd level. No one greeted us or asked if we wanted help. I passed two employees who turned their backs to me and wouldn't make eye contact. I tried to go to the fitting rooms and was told (rudely) that the fitting rooms were closed. I asked if it was because of Covid and they said no its because they closed at 5. I took my things to the cash as asked if everything I had was returnable because I couldn't try it on and may need to bring it back. I had to ask twice because the clerk just ignored me the first time. I thought, okay whatever it's a bunch of teens working who probably just want to get out early. I get it. I've worked retail. But then I saw someone who I assumed was a manager because of how she was talking to staff. She went infront of my sister in the checkout to purchase her own things before her even though she was obviously still on the clock (still had her radio on and everything). So we're leaving and it's still fifteen minutes to five and she's locking the other door and we're leaving. I stopped to ask if she was infact management and she said she was. I asked why she was letting her employees dim the lights a full half hour before close. At first she lied and told me they close at 4:30 even though another employee (and Google) had already told me they closed at five. After calling out her lie she said they have to "flush people out" early. I told her that was incredibly irregular for a box store to do that and she told me that I should make a complaint and not haras her. All this as she is literally locking the front doors before 5. Then she yelled after us a sarcastic 'have a nice day' as we left. I think there were maybe 2 other people in the store. No line. Certainly no reason to need to "flush people out" or lock the doors. And im sure it's against policy to buy stuff for yourself while on the clock. If the manager hadn't been so rude I probably wouldn't have made a complaint, but she was truly incompetent. Like I said, I've worked retail, but she didn't even bother to give me some BS apology. Didn't care at all.

None of the items you get here are the best quality, but you will get some great deals. The staff here are usually good, and you can take arm loads into the changing room. The biggest thing I love is the return policy, 90 days.
