I have an EV. Is there a place to park and charge my car? Is there one nearby?

I don't recall seeing anything around there for that. It's in a fairly low income area, but stuck out on its own, so don't expect electrical outlets, pay phones, restrooms, food, or other services in the area as there isn't much close by and the… Read more

I went here for my biometrics appointment required to renew my green card after 10 years, and I have to say it was about as painless as it possibly could be.

There are several reasons buying a house in Seatac was the worst decision of my life, but the main…read morereason is the noise. I have roosters next door. There is no law against roosters, a creature known for aggressive behavior and making excessive noise. For three years I have been asking the city to do something. Every night I am woken up, sometimes as early as 2:30 am. When I say every night, I mean every night, including Christmas. After visiting the code complaint office several times and opening two seperate cases, finally some action was taken. Unfortunately, it took several months and speaking in front of the city council until there was any results. Still, I am woken up in the middle of every night. The animal hoarding situation next door went from a ridiculous 30+ birds to the code compliant 4, one still being a rooster. The city says since the neighbors are now code complaint they are done. Now they don't even return my emails. The city of Seatac seems to strongly oppose any change, even something as common sense as simple legislation against roosters. Every other city and town in the tri-county area has a law in effect but Seatac. Do yourself a favor and don't move here. The city is more concerned with creating watch lists for Islamic residents than addressing any of your concerns. At one time my mail was stolen and I had to wait 8 hours for a cop who basically said I should have had a locking mailbox. I am currently saving up to move out of this noisy disappointment of a neighborhood.

So I booked it for a Friday a few months out and decided to make a weekend out of it in Seattle. We arrived at least 30 minutes early to our appointment and they called us up to the window almost immediately. The officers were quite gruff and didn't say much, but they got us through and on our way in 10 minutes - talk about efficiency! All in all, I think it was worth doing so that I have less hassle on my next international flight.

The last time was just a couple days ago after finishing a most satisfying 4-day Laugavegur trail, followed by a pleasant side trip to Stykkishólmur and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. This latest experience was smooth, with no issues. This was similar to previous experiences. I also easily finished my Global Entry Interview while I was here. The only confusion was trying to figure out where to go for my connecting flight after I was finished. Taking the train to the main terminal was easy enough, but from there required airport "Spidey sense" to not only find the Security Line, but the one that takes TSA Pre. Gayle and I did have an interesting "incident" here several years ago as we returned from Iceland. It was the Christmas Season and we had received our Iceland "Yule Lads" present on our door at our Reykjavik Hotel. That consisted of a Washington State apple, that we simply packed away without any additional thought. Fast forward to US Customs where the Beagle sniffed out our USA fruit, which necessitated a full search or our baggage. Those Yule Lads certainly had the last laugh.

That doesn't mean that it's not ghetto. It's Washington ghetto, so your chances of being shot are pretty low (overall). Keep away from Pac Hwy at night though. Seriously. Tukwila has its moments. Westfield shopping center (Southcenter, to the locals) is one of the largest malls in the state and has a ton to offer. That whole general area is built up and crams a lot of shopping into the area and hotels are creeping in quickly. Tukwila also has several restaurants around, including Odin Brewing. If you're not going to the mall area or you're just passing though Tukwila has little else to offer.

Plus the name is impossible to pronounce unless you live here (eclipsed only by Cle Elum and Puyallup for ridiculousness). Unfortunately, I also work here, which means I am regularly subject to the fact that I have to get in my car to get cup of coffee, and that the nearest thing resembling an actual restaurant is 10 minutes away in Georgetown (no - nothing in Southcenter counts). It's like the anti-Seattle. Yeah, the light-rail passes overhead, but it stops only at the very edge near the airport, which should tell you something about what there is (or isn't) to see here. The best thing I can say is that it's easy to get away from Tukwila to other places because there are two highways nearby and fat (phat?) roads.
