I'm very pleased to say that the issue was resolved and for that they get 4 stars from me! See below if you want to hear the story: I sent my husband to the store with my toddler to go pick out some fancy cupcakes for my birthday dinner. We already had a grown up Marble Slab ice cream cake set aside for adults but wanted our daughter to have fun so we thought this was a great idea! When they came back from Safeway, she handed me a box of 4 beautiful Tinkerbell and Winnie the Pooh cupcakes. I have always been impressed by the selection of children's cupcakes at Safeway: various Disney characters, Sesame street characters, etc. Many times the character's face is actually a ring the child wear after eating the cupcake! They are always quite pretty and VERY reasonably priced at $1.50 a piece. There aren't flavour options like the gourmet cupcake shops - but gorgeous and perfect for a toddler! Also a great idea for birthday parties since they are only $1.50 a piece, come proportioned, and usually come with a party favour in the form of a ring! Anyhoo, she handed me the box of 4 - and I was happy for her - but then she told me she had gotten more. Okay, where are they? She handed me the grocery bag with 3 more cupcakes each placed individually in a plastic square container that WASN'T tall enough to stand the cupcake up in nor small enough around to prevent the cupcakes from rolling all over the place! So the cupcakes had naturally rolled all over the place and Piglet, Winnie, & someone else I can't even recall was decapitated and smushed! I asked my husband if they had run out of containers or if he had packaged them up like this for some reason and he said that the Bakery clerk did this! He advised that they had originally selected 4 cupcakes which were placed in the APPROPRIATE cupcake packaging but then my daughter kept seeing more cupcakes she wanted and they ended up adding 3 more - but 1 at a time. Well, regardless - even if you were only buying 1 cupcake it shouldn't be given to you in a container not designed for a cupcake! This looked more like a sandwich box! I fumed for a bit and then decided to call the store and ask to speak with a manager. First, I spoke with customer service who didn't offer any suggestions other than putting me through to the lady who packaged the cupcakes for my husband - Uh, no thanks! So then I spoke with the store manager who apologized and said he would have the bakery manager get back to me asap. Approximately 15 minutes later, I received a phone call from the Bakery manager apologizing and stating that he spoke with the employee and asked to see what she packaged our cupcakes in. He said he didn't need any further explanation because as soon as he saw the containers he could imagine how the cupcakes looked by the time they got to their final destination. He asked if I would like to come back to the store to replace the cupcakes. We only live a few minutes away so that wasn't a problem. I asked if he wanted me to bring back the 3 decapitated cupcakes or if I should just give them to my toddler (rather than my dinner party guests) and he offered for her to keep them. Upon arriving at the store, I was greeted by a not too friendly bakery clerk - I figured out later that it was the same one who had packaged the cupcakes earlier. None the less, I had my daughter say "Please" and "Thank you" to the, ahem, "nice cupcake lady." I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a variety box of 6 character cupcakes waiting all packaged up for us free of charge. Now, while I wish the cupcakes hadn't been poorly packaged in the first place - it was nice to have the customer service issue corrected promptly and thoughtfully. I stopped on the way out of the store to thank the manager and we took our cupcakes home. So in the end - I had sent my husband to the store to pick up 4 cupcakes - he came home with 7 - then we got another 6 free of charge - for a total of 13 cupcakes, good lord! We packaged up 4 cupcakes and delivered them to the neighbour girls and went on a car ride to deliver two adorable cupcakes to our nieces who were sick and couldn't come to the dinner party. Thank you, Safeway, for correcting an unfortunate experience. The least I can do is give you credit where it's due!

A nearly empty store at 7pm, Friday. Three adult cashiers standing around chatting, no one helping…read moreat self checkout and only one cash open. A shopper ahead of me with a large $300 order, while I wait for another cash to open with my six items. The female manager decides its a great time to talk to the busy male cashier about shift policy with another employee, slowing down the line even more. This store is poorly run, by the same tired crew from the 90's. No responsibility about wrongly priced items, they will fight you to the bone about scanning code of practice. No thx.

Wish I was able to give no stars…read more So A little while ago I went grocery shopping at the Hardy's Independent grocery store in Devon as I did 3 times a week. The cashier rang in my order but mistakenly scanned an item twice (this happens approximately on 80% of my receipts) I went to get a refund and the owner/operator came. During the refund she hardly looked at me, gave no apology and asked to look through my bags. Two days later I was there again when they came to talk to me regarding the refund for the item from the other day. She told me she had actually ended up charging me a third time and she forgot to get me to sign the receipt. So while a cashier was refunding me for that item, I happened to look over my receipt from the groceries I just bought and found out that they charged me twice for another item. I then expressed my displeasure of the frequent over-charges and feeling like a liar or a thief with the owner wanting to rifle through my bags. Her response was that I didn't need to shop there anymore; that I wasn't that good of a customer (cuz I frequently bought sale items) and then she told me that she watches me while my daughters and I shop!! I stop in weekly as it's very convenient for me however the cashiers are not very friendly except the bakery and deli. The store is well stocked with the exception of meat sales where occasionally they will sell out. The guy in the meat department will gladly offer a raincheck. The deli area offers fresh sushi, hot bbq chicken, potato wedges and dips like seafood, spinach and Mexican. The post office is handy for people who live in the area. You can pick up and send parcels and has all your mailing needs like envelopes and stamps. The bakery accepts special orders so talk to the manager or one of the staff and they will happy to help. I ordered a vanilla cake with raspberry filling and a ombré rose design and it was very pretty and delicious. The cake was moist and had enough filling you can actually take raspberry! Would definitely order again for a special occasion.

We settled on the Halloween one, because my kid loves all things Halloween; for $15 it did feel a little overpriced but I don't know where they get all their stuff from and cost of everything has gone up so maybe I'm a bit biased. Coolers and coolers full of unique soda's. We picked 2 up and their flavors were definitely on par with a craft soda. I even saw Bob Ross on one can. Along with a Duff can! My friend recommended the Sailor Moon ones too and said the one she got was pretty tasty! We also picked up a can of the Spicy Lobster pringles, which were pretty tasty, but again quite a price to try.

We find products here that are usually hard to find somewhere else. The staff have been very friendly and helpful and when you have a question, they won't leave you till you find what you needed even if you ask them store manager. I love their butchery department and bakery the best. They always have fresh and high quality products that you can smell it from the opposite side of the store. Overall I have been always enjoying my shopping experience there and I highly recommend them! :)

There was lots of hype surrounding its opening and there were long lines waiting to go in when it first opened. I checked it out a few weeks after it opened and I'm not sure if it is worth the hype. There were a wide variety of local company products that can be bought at this store which is great. However the goal of my last visit was to try their in store made food. The ready made food in store was very disappointing. The Alberta Pork Ribs which they claim to be cherry wood smoked for 18 hours was very dry and salty. The hand cut potato wedges and potato salad were nothing special and got too salty. The classic smashed burger was a normal burger that wasn't worth the price. The large chili was overpriced for the portions that was given and reminded me of the chili you can get at Tim Hortons for less the price. The ready made food was just really mediocre. Perhaps just stick with doing grocery shopping here. Ordering the ready made food here is not a good idea.

And they did not disappoint! The casket spray was gorgeous and fresh, the bouquet of white roses was lovely, and the bag of white flower petals was wonderful too. The prices were lower than typical florist's. I would definitely use them again for any floral needs. It was also nice to be able to grab a hot latte there on a cold morning before the outdoor service.

The produce section is large, very large compared to the rest of the store, and very fresh. The meat section is nice (no Save-On though) and a pretty good deli section. With a ton of parking and the fact that there is so many other businesses in the direct vicinity; from hardware to restaurants, movie theaters , boutiques and salons... I can concievably see myself going to Windermere over a closer grocery store just because of all the area has to offer.
