Nothing which I have bought there has broken the bank, often being cheaper than I expected. As WhyBelieve said, it's a boon having it in the Town center. Their hardware is better than the other supposed Hardware shop in town, and it is frequented by people from the trade, which is always reasuring. It always helps that the owner is always pleasant, even on a bad day.

Going into this store is a bit like a step back in time but the owner is great and most helpful and stocks such a lot of useful things and all at a reasonable price. The shop is in town which is very useful if you are wanting to just pop in and get something while you are visiting other shops in town. If he doesn't have what you want he can order things for you. He is great for advice and tips to about what would be best to use for a project if you are a little stuck.

It is a bit like Wilkinsons but that much bigger and therefore probably better. We took a blind back the other day which was the wrong colour and their returns department were no problem at all and gave us a full refund without any hassle. This will definitely become a regular haunt for us as they seem to sell everything and none of it is too pricey - the issue of quality we will not be certain of for a few years yet.

One of the sales people is crotchety and efficient, but the other very pleasant and efficient. For a small shop the prices are reasonable. They do a good range of kitchen utensils. At the right time of year, I buy my bulbs here. The sign outside says Alwrights, which is from a previous owner. This shop also has a branch in Millom.
