2019 I purchased a HomeAgain chip through my vet for a new puppy. She's now 4 years old, the last 4 years they refuse to register the chip unless I pay them for their membership. I've tried to get this settled 12 times. Each time I'm that I have to pay for them to register the number. Tonight they told me to go register it with a different company. I explained that I purchased their chip & want them to do their job. (it is register with a couple of sites.). HomeAgain tried to say that I didn't pay for the chip I paid for it to be inserted. I spoke with the vet to confirm what was pd for so I know for fact that day I paid for vaccines, the chip, an office visit office. The insertion was covered just like the vaccines, I don't get free vaccines and just pay for the vet to insert the syringe. According to the vet they $25. was the cost of the chip initial registration & the insertion. I was told today that they are no longer providing HomeAgain chips. This vet is a nationwide clinic & because of all the issues across the US between clients & HomeAgain all stemming from registrations, to forcing memberships/renewals, refunds, website and autopay over pay. Over the years I've had pets with Avivd ID, AKC, 24PetWatch, Buddy I.D., Petlink, to name a few, Not one of these have ever tried to charge me to register the chip. They have all wanted me to join their membership which of course does cost. 2011 I adopted a cat from a shelter for my niece. They also inserted a HomeAgain chip. HomeAgain tried to do the same back then. Thank goodness I called the shelter manager and explained to them what HomeAgain was trying to do. They handled the problem with HomeAgain for me and the cat was registered by the end of the week. Unfortunately when my niece passed and brother tried to registered the cat to him HomeAgain listed the cat as deceased. read more

Great sense of security - did find Ara ONCE! Ara is dead! Getting out of this is HARD! Ara was beautiful being. I hope she is not mad at me for my decision to end her suffering. I am grateful that her chip enabled me to recover her when she panicked in a thunder storm. BUT, she is gone and I no longer need to spend money to be able to retrieve her. Canceling this service is made VERY difficult. I finally managed to edit her profile and mark her as deceased and edit my profile and turn off auto renewal; I checked with HomeAgain by phone: that did result in essentially ending my continued billing. NOTE HOWEVER: I had to choose the "report Lost Dog" option to actually get this done; there is no online option to report a deceased dog (other than the round-about way I did it)-all that HomeAgain offers is a long list of data that you have too provide via email. I recognize the advantage(greed) behind making this difficult, but, hey customer service is NOT good in this respect. read more

This rating is on the security of their system. I received an email this morning saying I needed to check my payment card. No problem, so I login and go to the saved card section and what do I find, someone else's information, name, address and card number (last 4 digits anyway). When I called them to question this I got a nice young lady on the phone that suggested I just change the information back to mine, REALLY.... like I trust your system to keep my information secure... by the way where is the information that has been there for years? Is it now attached to someone else's account/pet? I did mail a copy of the screen shot to the lady that's information was tied to my account. I felt she should be made aware of here credit card info just floating around in their system I suggest not giving them any information beyond the chip number and your contact info to get your pet registered. read more

My husband I went to an out-of-town wedding and left our dog with our daughter. Through no fault of hers, he got out of their fenced yard and started RUNNING THROUGH CHICAGO!!! Just a few minutes into his "adventure" a kind soul grabbed him, saw that he was chipped and wearing the Home Again tag, called the number and he was reunited with my daughter! My family recently adopted a kitten and while she was at a spay and save appointment, we decided to get her microchipped there as well. My sister had previously done it at a Petco/Vetco day and it was just the fee that day to put it in and register. We get home from our appointment and I attempted to register our microchip online and after entering pages of info, I'm told there is a $19.99 annual fee to have this microchip registered with them. I've never heard of anything like that and if I knew about the additional annual fees ahead of time, I would have held off on microchipping her since an unregistered microchip is essentially useless. As other reviews have mentioned, you can register your microchipped pet for FREE on foundanimals.org which is what I ended up doing. read more

I am a dog breeder and our vet uses this service for microchipping so expected this to be a good vendor. not even close. I have tried so many times to get through to this company, left voicemail messages and even talked to our vet about our horrible experience. When we sold that last litter all of our clients called us because they weren't able to get through to complete the transfers and asked us to give it a try. That was in December and we still have been unsuccessful at getting through to this horrible company. I have no idea why they are still in business. If you can leverage another company...please do! My dog was lost, and I missed the HomeAgain emails that went to my junk mail to renew yearly. My dog was found deceased, and they scanned him for a chip. Because I had. a lapse in payment, the chip was deactivated andot chipped. First, I see lots of reviewers commenting about the annual fee and bad service. I called HomeAgain this morning to get my new cat's chip # transferred to me from her former owner. I had no problem getting through by phone, the representative was very nice and helpful, there is a ZERO COST lifetime sign-up that provides contact info if someone finds your lost pet and takes them to a vet to get scanned. My cat is indoor-only so I don't need the paid service -- the paid service means HomeAgain will send out an email blast if you report your pet missing. Anyway, I just wanted my cat's chip to show me as her owner if something happens while she is at the boarding place while I'm on vacation. My main concern was my information being sold to advertisers which is why I gave HomeAgain an email address that I use for "junk mail". So we shall see. read more

The only benefit from this company seems to be the actual chip. I paid for premium services and they didn't do anything for me, sending alerts within 10 miles when I'm in a rural area and the nearest shelters and vets offices are much farther away. Do more. What does it cost to send alerts farther away, when lost dogs and cats can travel great distances? We don't all live in a city. A few Sunday mornings ago, my husband returned home after running an errand. He had a Siberian Husky with him which at first glance from afar I thought was our own Husky. However, our Husky was in the house with me so for a second I was quite confused. On his drive home my husband had seen this dog roaming at an exit off of Route 93 and so he pulled over fearing the dog would be hit by a car. The dog jumped right into the back seat once the door was open. My husband saw that he had no collar or tags. So here we were with what turned out to be an absolutely beautiful and clearly well-fed and well-taken care of dog looking very much like a twin to our own. We immediately called about a dozen police stations and animal control officers in the towns even remotely surrounding the exit where Mr. X ( as we had taken to calling him) had been found. He was an incredibly wonderful dog who knew all his commands and was sweet in the way we've found all Huskies to be. He seemed happy enough to be with us but would occasionally give off a plaintive wolf howl as Huskies are wont to do. These howls however broke our hearts as we thought about how much he was probably missing his family. The darker side of my thoughts hoped he hadn't been abandoned but the degree to which he had clearly been so well-cared for helped put that thought out of my mind. By Monday evening, no one had called us back. It suddenly occurred to us that perhaps this dog had had a microchip placed so on Tuesday my husband took him to the Scituate Animal Shelter (our local no-kill shelter) because they have a chip reader. The great news is that Mr. X. indeed had had a microchip placed by HomeAgain, (a subsidiary of Merck Pharmaceuticals). We were able to obtain his name which was Will, the names of his owners, an address and phone numbers. Suffice it to say the reunion was a most joyous one. Mr. X aka Will was as it turned out a 10 year old Siberian Husky that had been walking in the Blue Hills Reservation with his family the day before he was found by my husband. This was nowhere near where my husband found him so the dog got confused and ended up on quite a long journey. Apparently Will slipped out of his collar and leash when he pulled toward something that caught his attention and took off like a bat out of hell. The family insisted they normally used a harness for him and were so upset they'd chosen the less functional collar. Nonetheless, the joy on everyone's faces including Will who was leaping in the air and licking everyone and everything in sight made all of us misty and most happy. There are plenty of companies that will place a microchip in your animal. You just have to make sure they are a solid company that isn't going to go out of business leaving you and your animal high and dry. Given this rescue story with such a happy ending, HomeAgain did what they were meant to do: reunite animals with their families. Check out their website and then if your animal doesn't have a chip, please make an appointment with your vet to have it done. It's not all that pricey, doesn't involve surgery and will give you peace of mind. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my dog. Shudder. read more

Do not purchase anything from this company. I ordered my pet a special tag last year because the plastic wore out on the old one. I got the pet tag. However, they kept my credit card information without my permission. I wrote them a check to renew my membership ($21.99) for 2022 on March 31, 2022. Then home again charged my credit card on April 30, 2022 for the membership again. Forget about getting someone to talk to on the phone. The first two times they made me leave a message after a 20 min. wait. I never received a call back. The third time I called I actually got a customer service representative named Jared on May 31, 2022 at 11:36am. He did give me a case number and said my credit card would be credited within 3-6 days and that my automatic renewal on my credit card would be removed. Well today in June 17, 2022 and there is no credit on my credit card and the automatic renewal on my credit card has not been removed. So, I called again this morning at 9:08am and was forced to leave a message (that I am sure they will not return). And, there is no way on line I have an option to uncheck the automatic renewal. This is a fraudulent company. Call but on hold for more than 20 minutes and no calls back. I cannot transfer our new puppy's info to our names. Check out BBB (not BBB rated but more than 220 complaints of the same nature!). Also see TrustPilot reviews - all the same issues. We all need to work together to get these guys shut down: First and foremost, check in with your vet clinics and let them know they need to get these HomeAgain microchips off of their shelves. Tell them they are supporting a fraudulent company - they will listen to their clients. Everyone/anyone that has been cheated out by these criminals should contact their State Attorney General's Office and report this fraud. The more reports these jerkoffs get, the more pressure for law enforcement to get involved and shut them down. Start with your own state's attorney general's office then put complaints in at the federal level with FBI and Federal TradeCommission under consumer fraud. I was checking my bank account when I saw it had been hit four times on the same day for $21.99. Scammers! That's what they do when they get their hands on your card number. It hit on President's day so I knew I wasn't using my card. So of course I call the bank, cancel my card and now I have to wait for a new card and contact power and water companies to update my information. I started googling to try and find out who was stealing from me and it's Home Again! They never contacted me to ask if I wanted to update my information, remind me that the bill was coming up or did I want to add a pet. Verizon sends me notification that my bill is ready and then thanks for the payment, every month! Ever hear of customer service? Awful customer service when calling to register your pet for the first time. Nancy, the rep that was "helping" me kept on telling me she is required to read me a script about charging my card $20 annually for membership. I informed her repeatedly that I was not interested in a membership and simply wanted to register the microchip with the correct information. Once she realized I was not going to pay, she promptly hung up and ended the call. I'm sure the management is pushing incentives onto their call center team and pressuring them make sales or face consequences. This is the WORST microchip company I've ever encountered. First, their website is contradictory. It will tell you in two areas on the same page your password requirements which are completely contradictory. It will state that it needs to be no more than 8 characters and no special symbols, and in another part of the page it will tell you just the opposite - that your password has to be more than 8 characters, up to 25 characters and requires a special symbol. This is an elementary level web page. I repeatedly got error messages when trying to upload a photo of my dog although I tried in different browsers and the photo I was trying to upload fell well within the parameters specified on their page. When calling their number, I am on hold no less than 10 minutes before I even have the option to leave a message requesting a call back. I can NEVER get anyone on the line when calling them. I received a return phone call during work hours FIVE DAYS LATER and they left me a voice mail. There is NO email specified on their website to contact them. Really? This is the 21st century. NO EMAIL?????? I have no idea how to login and update any info. I don't see anything on the page when I login. Nothing. I have no emergency contact info that was added at the time that I registered my dog. I have ZERO faith this company will ever be of any help if my dog is lost. How can they be when they are NEVER available when you call?? They have no pic or emergency info on my dog, no way for me to login and update that info, no email confirmation from them even stating that I registered. NOTHING. The only proof I have that I registered is that I printed the confirmation. By all means be sure you do that because this is the only proof you have that you were scammed. This is a complete scam. I adopted my dog from a rescue organization, and she came with the HomeAgain microchip. Initially I had a difficult time signing up on the HomeAgain website, logging in, and getting transferring the chip to me, but eventually their customer support got it fixed. They offer customers 2 free ID cards per year, using information from your profile page. I requested a card and received one with an incorrect phone number at the bottom which is supposed to be my pet's veterinarian. I called the number and got an animal clinic in another state! I called HomeAgain customer service and explained the problem. They found my vet in their list and said no phone number was provided. I gave them the correct information and told them I would also contact the veterinarian's office to get their information updated. My vet's office told me they would get it corrected. A couple weeks later I got another ID card, and this time a different veterinarian's number is listed, also in another state. I went to the website and tried to update the veterinarian information in my pet's profile, but now their clinic is not listed at all! I'd rather get an ID card with NO phone number than one for an animal hospital that doesn't know my pet. It just seems highly incompetent to me. With screw-ups like this, heaven forbid my dog ever gets lost. read more

When you call, you wait forever and then it just goes to a voicemail box and you don't hear from them again. I have recently been having ALOT of issues with trying to get ahold of an actual human being thru the customer service line! I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF MY ACCOUNT and I cannot get back in! I've recently moved and one of my pets got out. Thankfully he came back an hour later but I can't even get on my account, ahold of someone on the phone and FORGET TRYING TO EMAIL, you will not get a response, what if he didn't return? My information on his chip is no longer valid due to a move and someone stealing my phone, so I had to get a new number... I've had all of my past over the course of 12ish years now chipped thru y'all... and I've never had this problem. The only option to make that happen was to call their 888 number which was not possible from where I was located. I adopted a pet and needed to change the owner contact details on the HomeAgain website. A year later, HomeAgain took an unauthorised payment from my bank account. They saved my bank account details from a one-off payment to update the owner details on the microchip, and then used them to 'renew' me a year later. For what? There are no details about what this payment is supposed to be for. I never signed up for an auto-renewal payment, and I never received any communication from HomeAgain about what this payment was supposed to be for. I didn't even have an online account on the website so was unable to log in and see what was going on. This business is a scam. How many people are they taking money from with no authorization? This company is just impossible to deal with. First of all: The double-billed me the $19.99 annual fee because I stupidly provided them with my card and signed up for auto-renew. The worst thing about it: they did not even update my dog's membership on their website. My dog's profile says that she is unregistered since February of 2018, when I've been paying every year. AND THIS YEAR THEY CHARGED TWICE!!! Second: It is possible to change your card # online, but there is no option to completely remove your credit card # without first calling them. I cancelled the auto-renew option, but still can't get my credit card info off the website. Third: there is no way to chat online or e-mail. You have to call and it takes 10-15 minutes to get through to customer service. And when I did, the first thing the rep tried to do was SELL ME EXTRA SERVICES!! I am going through my bank to cancel the fees because I do not believe the customer service rep who promised to have someone e-mail to sort through their mistake in 3 days or less. We had our newest dog microchipped and this company makes it really hard to set up the online account. Ask your vet what company they use and try to have them all with petlink. We were unable to verify whatever information the vet put in and when we called the 1888 number, they wanted us to do a transfer of ownership instead of having both me and my wife as primary contacts. With petlink, this is not an issue. They were not very helpful as this issue did not get resolved but they were quick to try and sell me the collar we already had from the vet. read more
