I would like to start by saying I have been using this service with my 3 pets since 2008 but, today, that has come to an end. Instead I now feel obligated to share my experience. I had a problem last year with HomeAgain auto-renewing without it being approved. They managed to convince me it was my fault but I made sure to turn off auto-renew forevermore. I also recently had one of my 3 pets die. I updated this information months ago and the online site reflects all of these truths: No auto-renewal and that there are only 2 active pets. On the 18th my wife informed me we were charged for 3 pet memberships. Not only was auto-renewal turned off but they actually charged me for a deceased pet! I just spent 40 minutes or so on the phone to contact Customer Service who just said they don't know. They offered to refund it. Of course you will refund it! You stole my money and charged me for a deceased pet! Are you f-ing kidding me!!! Avoid this service at all costs. There are better alternatives out there and this is how they treat someone who has done business with them for around 13 years. Imagine how they will treat you. Enough said. Yikes. The customer service here is shockingly bad. I needed to transfer one of my pets to a different account, and this proved to be a herculean task requiring multiple emails and a long phone call to finally get it figured out. Even just calling to change a name or register an account is a nightmare of incompetence. I cannot imagine having to deal with this company if you're frantically trying to find a lost pet. If you have ANY other option for your pet's microchip, take it. read more

This company is horrible. I have three pets microchipped and have had nothing but trouble every time I try to contact them or login to my account. The first time, none of my pets accounts were linked and I was unable to access two of them. I emailed the company and it took them several days to respond. I said, "I tried to call but was on hold for a long time. This makes me wonder if my pets did get lost and someone found them they would be on hold forever and would give up and not report them. Not sure I want to continue with this service, even though I just renewed." When they finally responded to link the accounts, they completely ignored my question. Fast forward three months. My cat has been missing for two days. I tried to login to my account and it wasn't taking my password. After attempting to have a temporary password emailed to me several times, the email finally arrived. When I logged in with it, it said the account had been suspended for too many failed login attempts and I had to call an 800#. What a joke.... read more

It gets worse. I have not paid the $20 per pet annual fee that Home Alone keeps sending me emails that I must pay. I tried to log into my account with Home Alone - and they say my email account is NO LONGER REGISTERED with them. This is the SAME email address they use to send me their $20 per chip ANNUAL fee bills at (just got an email from them a few days ago) - YET they have NOW removed my online account with that very same e-mail address! I can no longer update my contact info, and honestly I don't know if my pets are registered with them, since they refuse me the right to check the info, without paying the $20 for each of my pets. I volunteer for a rescue and the last few Home Again microchips we scanned on found pets came up as "expired"....meaning the people did not pay the annual $20 fee? (that $20 fee which is supposedly optional). This is all VERY scary to me, as if one of my pets goes missing I cannot trust that this company would give out my contact information. I am terrified they would say the registration has "expired". Register your pets microchips for free with www.foundanimals.org. That way, at least you know that a second microchipping company is listed, and hopefully will be contacted by the party who finds your pet. But BEWARE...I have discovered that Home Again periodically bumps themselves to be listed first - on TOP of "the list" of the microchip registration companies........even though I am not allowed to update my information with them, AND even though they have CLOSED my account with them! Do not chip your pet with this service. Also, do not subscribe to their service either. The email's they send to all of their other HomeAgain customers are not user friendly. I spent 20 minutes trying to report that I had seen on of those lost pets. There is no easy way to report it. The website does not work properly and none of their emails display properly. They don't even give you the contact information for the owners so you can't contact them directly. I would guess that HomeAgain will hold your pets for ransom if they do get a tip on where your pet might be. They'll try to get you to subscribe to their service in order for them to give you the location the animal was last seen. This company is a shit show. read more

My dog's chip was finally registered to me on May 23. While I was not happy with the amount of time that the process took and the number of phone calls it took to find out details of the process and to keep the process going, it did eventually happen. My advice if you adopt a pet who is already registered with HomeAgain and you want to get ownership transferred to you is to be persistent (and speak to a supervisor if you are not getting the answers you want), and to be patient. read more

If I could select less than a 1 star review....I would. The customer service at this company is terrible. I was a loyal customer with 2 pets for over 13 years. I also recommended Home Again to many family members and friends. When my pet passed, I left a voicemail with Home Again as it states on their automated system. I left all of my contact information and my pet's chip number. No one ever called or emailed me. I left a few messages. Finally, I sent an email and received an automated reply not specific to my message. When I finally got into contact with a live agent I was told they could not refund me because it had been over 6 months since my pet passed. I explained the situation and the amount of times I had contacted Home Again and even escalated to a manager. At one point, Home Again stated they would refund me. When I never received the refund, I called back and was told they would not be refunding. Home Again refused to give me a refund. The refund amount would have been very small, but I continued to pursue because of the principle. When you are grieving a pet, you should not have to continue following-up with a company where you've been a loyal customer. Very poor customer service!!! Shame on you Home Again. read more

Register this chip for free using foundanimals.org (as other very helpful and upset Yelpers have mentioned below). At least you can be at ease knowing your pet is registered somewhere. This company is a scam. Review below. Ask your vet what company they use before getting a microchip put in your pet. This customer service (through email) is absolutely useless. They do nothing but send you an automated response when you need help. I can't for the life of me, find the FREE registration on their site. They purposely make it hard to find so that you think you have to pay for their service. When you email for help, they send you directly to the site that sends you in loops, or tell you to call their customer service number. If they need my microchip number, address, phone number and email, what in the world will calling a phone number and giving all of that over the phone do for me and my dog??? The chances of inaccuracy are incredibly high for something that is so important to me, which is the retrieval of my dog if she gets out. Don't waste your money with this company. Awful. I can't say 'bad' service--I can say absolutely NO service at all. Please ask your vet to change 'pet tracking services' to a company that actually works. If you, like me, depends on your vet for a tracking service, your vet might not know how much it matters that the tracking service works. I don't know much about other services--but HomeAgain is does not work. Home Again is a sad, empty option if you think your beloved friend is being helped. I was only calling to change an address-- and there is no help at all to talk to someone. The online service is just as bad. I left a message after being on hold for a long time. Their system is backlogged due to 'an unprecedented number of calls.' And "We will call back in 48 hours." Why is it so hard to answer? There's no national emergency that could call all operators away on August 9, 2019. I'm waiting for a call back. If HomeAgain makes you feel secure when your beloved pet goes missing--I am sorry. Make sure he/she wears a tag with your current # and address at all times. The tag will help reunite you. The HomeAgain microchip--not so much at all. read more

Giving this company 1 star. Now I have to find a way to get my baby back from Texas. Where she ended up at. There is no communication whatsoever between any of the reps. Also.... Watch out for airline assistance it really doesn't cover anything and they don't seem worried about getting the pets back to their rightful owners. Even when your furbaby is a listed ESA by a doctor. Ex took my dog to Texas he lost her for a month. Then he found her and tried to get her back to me. Home again refused to help because it was domestic related. Even though I listed her as missing. Then they lied about calling him and him denying to release the dog to the aspca and homeagain so they can Send her home. So if they consider your case around those lines they will not help. Even though I said I didn't want reimbursement for the travel I just wanted my baby back home. My anxiety and ptsd are through the roof. And being treated for pcos isn't helping anything on top especially when I have to be monitored for possible cancer. Yes they have severely strict guidelines. And even though they say they stay in touch with the shelter. They don't work along side them like that to get the pet released for shipping if they end up in a different state. Definitely a joke in my honest opinion. I wonder how many people they did this to. Thanks again homeagain for the false hope and giving me the run around for two weeks. Absolutely terrible company. I created an account and pet profile the day my dog was microchipped. 4 months later I went to update some information and my pet's profile disappeared and it wouldn't let me add it to my account. Customer service didn't give me any information as to why this happened. I registered with HomeAgain because my vet gave me a pamphlet for it after my dog was chipped. After doing some research I have found FoundAnimals.org. I have since register my dogs chip ID on their website instead and have had a great experience. HomeAgain is constantly trying to sell you things and scam you out of money. FoundAnimals never even asks for payment information on your profile. Also after doing research I discovered that HomeAgain will not contact you when your pet is lost, they expect the shelter, vet, etc. to call. That could be a miscommunication. FoundAnimals will contact you on all forms for 4 days even if the shelter, vet, etc. intend to call you as well. Do not put the trust of your pet's safety with HomeAgain. Glad I realized these issues before (god forbid) my dog was lost. Otherwise, who knows if I would have gotten him back. Hopefully he never goes missing, but now I have confidence in his microchip database. read more

RESEARCH MICROCHIP COMPANY BEFORE USING SERVICE!! I called yesterday 4-5-19 @ 6:39 pm trying to verufy the rescue where i got my Dog had changed his ownership i formation. I held for 20 minutes listening to them say "WE'LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU" THEN, after holding all that time, the machine said a higher than nirmal call volume abd gave me a list of contact i formation they needed. My name including the spelling, phone number, email address, dog's name and homeagain id number. I even supplied the name of the rescue and my dog's name he gad with them. I WAS ALMOST DONE WHEN THEIR SYSTEM CUT ME OFF. i did get my contact info and reaso. For call as well as doggy id stated. I the also emailed them at 7:03 pm. It's now 10:47 am on 4-6-19!! The vet's office made a clerical error in registering my cats and I cannot register their chip numbers because of that. Sent numerous e-mails, made numerous phone calls and still cannot get to a live human being to resolve the issue. Even the vet's office can't get a response. God forbid my cats wander off or get lost because their chip information is useless at the moment. I will file a complaint at the BBB, maybe then I can get this issue resolved. read more

Agree with everyone about the ludicrous customer service. After waiting half an hour on hold, I left a message, which they said would be responded to in 48 hours. Guess what--no reply. So I sent an email through the website. A week later--no reply. Finally, after calling again and waiting forever on hold, I talked to a dim bulb who spent more time trying to upsell me on a new tag than she did actually taking my information and renewing my subscription. Had to repeat everything six times. I'll be cancelling my auto-renewal and registering with a different service; don't have time for this nonsense. Luckily I never had to use Home Again while my cat was alive - but I had a lousy experience with them after my cat died. A few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from Home Again reminding me that my cat's membership was up up for renewal in June. I sent them a reply informing them that my cat had recently died of old age, and asking them to not e-mail me again. I expected that they would write back and say, "We're sorry for your loss" - that is certainly what I would have done. Instead, I got no reply, but then a few weeks later, then sent me another reminder about renewing my cat's membership! After I told them that she had died! I was quite upset at this point. I sent them a message that I had already told them that my cat died, and that I was upset that they had sent me this message. I received an automated message that someone would follow up with me shortly - but then there was no further follow-up. I will definitely never use Home Again ever again. This was abysmal customer service, it was insensitive and upsetting, and there is no way I would ever trust these people to help me find a lost pet! read more

Called to find out what was going on...waited 12 minutes on hold, then a recording came on telling me to leave info and they would call me back. Been waiting for three hours...no call back so far. While I was on hold, I signed up with www.foundanimals.org...free service and way more user friendly. HomeAgain really sucks. I didn't receive a dog tag when my pet was registered with HomeAgain so I tried to just order one from their online store. The order process hung up because they couldn't find the shipping cost to my area, but it clearly said shipping was free!!! Ok, stuff happens so I called an made my way through their phone screening menu and spent a half hour on hold...as they counted down my position in the queue...then when I was at #2 they sent me to an answering machine!!! These guys have no concept of customer service or how to treat people...imagine if I had just lost my pet... I'll be looking for another place to register my pet's microchip and letting VCA know that they sent me to a real loser of a supplier! John D read more

I just adopted a pet whose owners had her chipped through HomeAgain. I called twice to re register the cat in my name and pay the annual fee. I never did get through -couldn't talk to a person couldn't even leave a message. Fly by night company. I would hate to see their lack of response for a lost pet. read more

Very poor customer service. I renewed my account onliine on 4/25/2022. Since then I have received 4 emails stating that my dogs registration expired on May 16. I have emailed customer service 3 times, I have made multiple phone calls and had to leave messages. No one has responded to my inquiries in the last 8 days. Do not use this service. read more

I am beyond livid with this company. I chose to not renew and my account reflected that status. I log into my bank today and find that they manually updated my credit card information in order to charge me for a renewal that I didn't authorize (I realize that they can attempt to get this updated information from the bank, but not renewing means they are no longer authorized to do this). I log into my old HomeAgain account and, sure enough, it shows that I'm not a member. So, why the charge??? Just like everyone else below states, they have terrible customer service. You get 11:30 into a call into customer service and they redirect you to a voicemail box. They claim that they will respond within 48 hours. I lost my username and password and have tried for 3 days to get them to help me. I have spent the last three days trying to get my username and password from the company so I can update our info. I have sent multiple emails, been stuck on terminal hold at their 1-888 number, left voicemails as per their request at their 1-888 number, contacted via various social media publicly and in PM and no response at all. Since then, I receive an email every few months telling me that my subscription has expired. I always respond to the CS via email asking to have my information removed. Like others, I knew nothing about microchip services when I got my two Great Danes chipped by this company. Microchipping is good, right? So just pay the fee at the vet, they'll take care of it, and everything will be fine. Yeah, right! I took my Danes in and got them chipped at the same time by my vet for $30 each. My get assured me that was the only charge I would have to pay. But it was not. One year later, I was moving to a new house. I went to the Home Again website to change my address and they would not let me change it without paying more money! I called them and a rude representative informed me that I could either pay $20/each dog ANNUALLY for the ability to change their info, or a lifetime "membership" of $40 each dog. I refused. Even if I paid the $40 each, how could I be sure they wouldn't just hit me up again when they had a corporate cash flow problem? Unfortunately, that means my Danes now have useless microchips implanted under their skin containing inaccurate information. When I asked the vet if I could get another microchip from another company for them, he advised against it because of the conflicting information it would contain. If you would like to waste your money on things that don't and won't matter, then this is the business to gain! I've emailed, call and contacted these people and they reassure me that everything is going fine and when I don't hear from them weeks later and contact them back, they keep saying "Oh, it's still processing, blah blah blah." I paid $21.99 for each of my cats annual membership on 8/18. The auto renewal date was 8/28. I decided to use auto-renewal for what I expected would be a charge on 8/28/22. Instead I was re-billed. Three calls, three emails, no reply. I have since charged back the matter and wrote a complaint with the BBB. The chip may work, the company is garbage. read more

I just called to renew our membership for all 3 of our pets. Spoke with McKenzie. She sounded "put out" that she even had to answer my call. Was short and snippy with me especially when I had questions about the auto renewal. I was in the middle of asking for her to clarify if they automatically debit my credit card when the membership expires and the phone disconnected, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't hang up on me BUT she didn't call me back. She already had my credit card number so I guess that's all she cared about. I called her back but was hung up as soon as someone answered. The 3rd time I called I spoke with someone named Trinette. I asked to speak w/McKenzie. She snapped, oh, she works from home. She was just as curt as the first rep I spoke with. I sure hope these people working at Home Again aren't this rude to people who call in that are distraught over the loss of their pet. We called to register the microchip for our cat as we took her in as a stray several years ago (after the previous owners moved without her and had the information on the chip wiped). The customer service agent, who answered quickly, helped us through the transfer process then informed us there was a $14.99 fee. Ok, fine, happy to pay that. Then we were asked what type of tags we would like, so we got one, even though our cat will not wear a collar...ever. So, we assumed, wrongly, that the fee was to register the chip. Once we received our activation email, we went online and it stated we needed to renew the membership for $21.99/year. What?!?!? So, we called again, this time we were told by customer service that the fee was only for the tags, registering the chip is free, and the $21.99 is for the premium service. Not sure what premium includes as we stopped listening at that point. This company is obviously just looking to make a dime. I would never, ever, recommend this company. read more

As a non profit rescue I can tell you that HomeAgain does NOT care about your dog, my dog or homeless dogs. Recently our rescue pulled an injured dog from the shelter, got it healthy and adopted it out. I filled out the transfer form and faxed it in. The new owners contacted us that they had not gotten anything from the microchip company. I called this morning and talked to CJ who was nice and Charleen.. who needs to find a job not in customer service. I explained the issue and was told that we needed to pay 17.95 which I will just call 18 for this review if we wanted the chip to be registered. I then explained that we were a non profit rescue and I had submitted the transfer form. Charleen didn't care she wanted her 18 dollars. She told me I could pay or the new adopter could pay. I told her that I would pay because I could see this was going downhill fast. I told her to find my form and take the information from there. I was informed that they receive " thousands of enrollments a day" So I said.. "WOW you receive thousands of enrollment forms where people are paying 18 dollars and you cant give rescues a break and give them a discount." Charleen the ever loving pet lover said ' No why would we do that?" Yes Charleen why would a company that charges for the chip, the enrollment and a fee during the year give a non profit animal rescue a break on the transfer of a rescued dog? Hmmm maybe because it is the right thing to do. read more

Customer service is non-existent. If your pet passes away you must call in person to cancel. Fine, no problem. You don't get to speak to a person. It's an answering machine that instructs you leave a message with your full name and spelling, email, phone number, pet name and spelling, microchip number.... ridiculous. read more
