Fifty's diner is not exactly a 50s themed diner (though the spelling of the name makes no false…read morepromises). There are no jukeboxes and the celebrity photos on the wall are mostly from the 60s and 70s. Fifty's is a busy restaraunt serving up typical diner fare including puck-sized burgers and an all-day breakfast menu. The waitress was friendly, professional and quick with the coffee refills. I ordered a classic breakfast dish comprising of homestyle potatoes, bacon and eggs. The bacon was crispy, the eggs were adequate and the potatoes all but stole the show. I mean they really did feel home made. Overall, I enjoyed this diner experience despite the not-quite-50s atmosphere. Fifty's Diner strikes me as the type of place to make a good stack of pancakes. I think that's what I'll order next time I am in North Bay.

You would think an establishment named 50's Diner would play 50's music right?? Kinda campy with the old posters on the wall. Service is good most days and portions are good for the money.

Day one was a nice grilled pesto chicken wrap with goat cheese, but it was the southwest corn chowder that ruled the meal. Less hungry on day two, so I only bought the red lentil and apricot soup. Weirdly sweet starting out (what did I expect?!), but it soon settled into a complex mix of flavours, and was incredibly satisfying on a chilly northern Ontario day. I don't expect to be back this way anytime soon, but will certainly return here to dine again when I do.

I'm not one to get excited about coffee, but this cup is great. Fresh, smooth, delicious. Eggs, home fries and protein (bacon, ham, sausage) are always served as I ordered it, the cook nails it every time. The secrete to this perfect breakfast is the toast. When offered the toasted home made bread for an additional $0.75. Do it! It makes an already good breakfast into a great breakfast. The wait staff is funny. A great sense of humor.
