No one called. We called again on Thursday and were told someone would call soon. Meanwhile, we are still dealing with soot. On Friday we called again and were told that someone would call back. We got no call back. We called again and the employee was very argumentative with me, saying someone tried to call but the phone just went to voice-mail. We had no voice-mail. I was very upset at this point but she did not show any compassion or recognition that this was an unacceptable situation. I understand it was not personally her fault and didn't blame her, but the basic lack of empathy for another human being was mind boggling. She said someone would call back soon. At that point we contacted another company who scheduled with us immediately. Finally, the employee for Servpro called back at the very end of the day on Friday. So from Wednesday we got the run around until Friday (while in a house full of soot) and it will be Monday before a different company can get into help us. If you're thinking about a company to help after a fire, run far from this place because they take forever and can't take responsibility for their actions.

They promptly came to assess the situation and maintained regular (and welcome!) contact throughout the process. Kudo to Matt, the project manager, and his team of workers on a super job! We had no experience remodeling a home let alone recovering from a fire. Our home had to be taken down to the outside walls and rebuilt from there. So many decisions to make, but Matt steered us through all of it, especially when we made suggestions (which weren't always feasible!). He offered solid advice and recommendations that we gladly accepted. Their workers and sub-contractors were excellent. We very highly recommend this company! They talk a good game initially, and are very accommodating at the beginning. We were happy at…read morefirst, but things went downhill fast. The sub-contractors they utilized for drywall and painting weren't up to par (in fact, the drywall job we did ourselves looks better than what the pros did). There are clear spatula marks on the wall from the mudders, and they didn't fix that even after we called them back. The painters they hired as sub-contractors were also difficult to work with; they didn't prepare properly and had to be called back afterwards. The biggest issue, though, was that they did not give us any contract or signed estimate before the work started (even after we asked several times) and then were talking as if there was lots of money left over as the job went on (insurance provided a specific amount to restore the house). As soon as we started discussing how we wanted to proceed, though, they suddenly were "over budget" and we had to pay more out of pocket, as the insurance money was used up. They didn't clean up well from the job, either. Some of our tools and supplies from previous projects went missing, and they left a few things behind as well. In the future, I think we'll just do the work ourselves. They finished the job quickly, but I'm going to spend the next 10+ years in this house staring at the mistakes they made.
