It's about a 35 to 40 minute drive heading south on I-75 from Valrico/Brandon area. A much better drive than heading to their sister house in Temple Terrace. They are under LifePath Hospice which is a Chapters Health Affiliate. The case worker representative gave us this option during our Brandon Regional Hospital ICU visit, and we were so happy to hear that a bed was available. Mom was transported to hospice within 2 hours of the arrangement. It was a very simple transition thanks to everyone at the hospital and the hospice representative. They took good care of mom and made her very comfortable in her private and spacious room thanks to Medicare. She was in room Cranberry 14. A beautifully decorated and relaxing atmosphere free of all hospital monitor sounds and smells. It was as if she was in a bedroom. The TV channel was set to the C.A.R.E. station with calm and relaxing guitar sounds and scenery. She was totally sedated but it's a nice touch in case she was still able to hear anything at this point. It certainly was peaceful for us as we sat there on the couch monitoring and talking to her. She was resting comfortably with pillows all around her (snug like a bug). The staff taking care of her were very compassionate and professional. I was comforted in knowing that she was getting 24/7 care, and sedation round the clock. It was a short stay. She passed away early the next morning in her sleep. She lived a long and wonderful life surrounded by people who love her very much. She was the best mommy in the world to me. I'm happy that she is now at peace. This hospice house did everything she wanted and needed. Don't hesitate to use their services if you find yourself in an end of life need. Highly recommended.

Most of the staff here are caring and compassionate. However, one of the intake counselors was very cold, insensitive, and made for a poor experience in a dark time for our family. I do understand the need for transparency, but telling family members your loved one is being discharged because they basically lasted too long here alive was distressing and unprofessional. Yes, you have policies, and yes, you go through them upon arrival. But my guess is many people trying to navigate the impending loss of a loved one are hardly going to remember everything they are presented with upon arrival at hospice. Several of us, including a pastor, kept dodging the low cabinets with dangerous corners near the patients' beds. The pastor did hit his head while praying over our mom. One day, I had to go to the ER because I cut my head on the cabinet, so beware of these sharp, low corners. You would think there would at least be caution sign or bright tape on them! The bright spots were the beauty and peacefulness of this place, and we also appreciated being able to sleep overnight in our mom's comfortable room. Thank you to the staff who cared for our mom until the very end. It is just a shame not all of the staff was as compassionate. I hope this review will help those contemplating bringing their loved one here.

To boot management doesn't care! In the memory care unit, they serve a lot of chicken breasts on-the-bone as lunch and dinner meals There are no knives (butter as with a normal place setting). The reidents look at the meal in the dish as there is no way to cut it into edible pieces. The chicken is usually covered with a sauce or gravy and they can not even pick it up. Many leave the table without eating! Mgm't has seen it, and still does nothing. The aids sit there and see this without helping the residents to eat. ADF would be a more suitable title. That said, with any facility you must be present often and you must continue to advocate for your relative's needs. The communication with doctors and nurses who see the residents regularly is done through an online portal. The medical staff is responsive and always on top of everything. As to cleanliness, I have never ever seen a bug anywhere and they do their best with any 'odors' which can occur from time to time in any facility which cares for residents of this age and incapacity. One star off for the staffing levels, they do emphasize they're not a 1:1 facility which I understand. However, this heightens the risk to residents in general, especially if they are a fall risk. This situation is tough on families and they do offer regular support group meetings for relatives.

I have a regular caregiver who does a great job helping me with the following tasks: personal care (clothing, washing, toileting, shaving, teeth and mouth, nail filing, etc.), laundry, household cleaning, making my bed and changing sheets, meal preparation, and many other tasks. The two times when my caregiver was not able to help me, Visiting Angels sent caregivers that were just as good as my normal caregiver. The staff is very easy to work with, too. Their pricing is competitive. I couldn't be happier with Visiting Angels and I would recommend them for any of my family and friends.

Before my dad was transferred there, I stopped by there without an appointment to check out the facility. I was immediately greeted and welcomed by the friendly staff and given a tour of the facility. The facility was clean and pleasant smelling. The rooms were very nice and spacious, the shared rooms looked as though the residents had plenty of space, and did not look cramped at all. Once my dad arrived, he was put in a very nice private room with a ton of space. All of the office staff, his nurses and nursing assistants, therapists and doctors have all been very sweet, and do such a wonderful job taking care of my dad. The physical, occupational, and speech therapy my dad receives have been top notch. He had been in another facility a couple months back and the therapy he received was the absolute minimum and didn't help him at all. The therapists at Hawthorne truly care about their patients making progress. The speech therapist, Brittany is so sweet and caring. I get to spend more time with her because I am often there when she comes to his room to work with him on his eating. She lets me bring in his favorite banana cream pies and she stores them in the fridge, so she can feed him when working with him on his eating, instead of the usual apple sauce. When I to go to the therapy gym, it is very busy, and all the therapists are working hard with their patients. My dad has already made a lot of progress in just the couple of weeks he has been there, as they really push him. They all make him feel so welcome and always happy to see him. My dad has dementia, so it can be scary leaving him at a new place, knowing he cannot communicate that well. I visit my dad at different times every day, and every time I go, I always find he has been well taken care of. I also enjoy taking my dad outside in his wheelchair so he can feed the ducks at the pond that is located in front of the entrance. If you are looking for a skilled nursing rehab facility for your loved one, I cannot recommend Hawthorne enough.

They would "check in" on my mother, but then not come back to bathe her or assist as they promised . She went 6 days with no shower. I had to call. The room cleaning was a hit or miss. Picture a reluctant teen forced to do chores on a Saturday, then you understand. The "gourmet" food was soggy salad, cold main course and veg cooked so long it was no longer green. The dessert was yum. It occurred to me the second floor dining room may get hot food as they are served first. so if you are there, go upstairs. I witnessed residents complain about the food, some "lucky" patrons had their food reheated via the microwave. The server assigned to the area I was in was so rude to a resident that asked for a straw (several times) that I asked her if she was alright. I thought a bad day was the reason for her surliness. She informed me she was fine and that everyone wanted her to fetch stuff for them. (Like do her job?!?) I am still waiting for my beverage (I had to pay 17.00 for the privilege of dining with my mother) This was sad as many residents gathered up to an hour early to wait my dining doors to open. The van, a plus for me I thought, to take mother to the doctor, was never available. Even with 3 week notice. No doctor trips, no grocery store. Just used for outings that you had to sign up for. Limited capacity. Her medication was crazy. They promptly took it all away, reordered generic (she had not used the brand new 3 month supply yet) and of course billed us. I was confused. I asked. Still confused. So many meds were ordered and reordered. Why?!? The pool, nope. Cannot use. No life guard. They were refurbishing the pool for access, never saw that happen...yet they failed to mention this on the tour. The bright spots at the Bridges were the maintenance guy. He fixed and repaired and was so nice about it. The lovely woman who did the laundry. What a blessing she is. Kind and sweet. So I took my mother out of there. She was losing weight, was unhappy, was unclean, I was having to clean her room and still taking her places. I was still missing work. I was assisting the assisted living facility. Care: she was inside and safe. Best I can say.

The best part was meeting some of the residents. I so enjoyed talking with and spending time with those that came over to the fair.
