We found Pacifica Sun City Senior Living on the internet before COVID hit in February 2020.  We met…read morewith the director and was able to walk around facility and get a good look at the place with one of the sales folks.  We knew we didn't need to look any further after visiting Pacifica.  It was just what dad needed.  We brought dad down from New York to Pacifica in August 2020 and it made a world of difference.  He loves his room (2BD, 2BA). The outside vendors (PT, OT, PCP, Podiatrist, Lab Retriever and RX) have been tremendously helpful.  Pacifica has been able to help look after dad and get him the necessary care without him leaving the premises, even as he has deteriorated.  Unfortunately, dad has declined due to a terminal illness (brain tumor and dementia).  Pacifica was one of the first facilities to get their residents COVID shots which is tremendous considering New York has not given any vaccines to the elderly - yet.  Dad got his second shot last week. This past week, we took a look at the Memory Care Unit at Pacifica - just in case, as a next step.  It is a very bright, clean and inviting environment.  When we were there the residents were in a group playing with a beach ball and they were smiling and having fun.  It made us feel better about possibly having that as a "next step". Mitch, Joann, Marco and Christina have gone above and beyond even under very trying circumstances with COVID.  They are the reason the Pacifica community is able to function as well as they are.  We can't thank them and all the other staff at Pacifica enough for all they have done and are doing for dad.

The aide who was there when my mother's body was found by a neighbor asked if she could go in to say goodbye to mom and left beforethe policearrived. She had worked for her literally 4 times for 3 hours each visit. I would not feel the need to say goodbye to a dead body whom I had known for a total of 12 hours. The vetting process has clearly failed. Additionally, nobody showed up for the first visit. We requested someone who could drive and when an aide finally did show up, she was late because she she was waiting for a ride because she doesn't drive! My mom and I both tried calling and Christa and Chantal were nowhere to be found. It took several days for a return phone call.

I will be an asset to the company and our community with the knowledge I learn. The school is right upstairs from the clinic, making it convenient. I can study as much as I can. There is no time limit on taking the Home Health Course. I don't feel pressured with the online part of Home Health schooling. Mom eventually moved in as a resident in June of 2022. Dorothy and her staff immediately made her feel at home, and of course, my trepidation of moving my mom away from home was eased. Dorothy and her staff were always eager to share updates of mom with the family along with pictures and videos. The resident was always spotless and cleaned without any storing disinfectant smells. It was really warm and inviting. It did not matter what day or time I visited. It was always the same. The care given to my mom was exceptional, to say the least. I went out of the country Christmas of 2022, feeling confident and relaxed knowing mom would be safe and cared for. Dorothy and her staff extend their to the end. We had our mom at Dorothy's for about three years. At other facilities, mom was over-medicated,…read morecausing more confusion. Her memory improved when she became a guest with Dorothy. This home is kept pristine and pricing is very reasonable compared to other options-- especially since guests receive much more individual attention. Later, when mom's memory did fade, the gentle, caring nature of Dorothy and all of her helpers was a great comfort to us. (My brother was horrified at other 'memory care' facilities he'd visited as they smelled, were depressing, and guests were ignored.) The thoughtful attention my mom received at Dorothy's was phenomenal. My mom considered Dorothy as more of another daughter. The love and care that she received was such a blessing and something that no money could buy. It was a gift. Mom was made to feel special. Thoughtful little things were done for her. As I live at a great distance, they would send photos of mom opening my cards and presents and she always had a huge smile. These would touch my heart and mean so much to me. With my mom's passing, we take great comfort in knowing that she was loved and cared for in the very best way possible. Dorothy is an absolute angel with the biggest heart and loving nature. The tour was great. The promises were great. The reality was POOR. After several visits and tours,…read moreI placed my mother at the Bridges. Carers were there as a job. Not a vocation. They would "check in" on my mother, but then not come back to bathe her or assist as they promised . She went 6 days with no shower. I had to call. The room cleaning was a hit or miss. Picture a reluctant teen forced to do chores on a Saturday, then you understand. The "gourmet" food was soggy salad, cold main course and veg cooked so long it was no longer green. The dessert was yum. It occurred to me the second floor dining room may get hot food as they are served first. so if you are there, go upstairs. I witnessed residents complain about the food, some "lucky" patrons had their food reheated via the microwave. The server assigned to the area I was in was so rude to a resident that asked for a straw (several times) that I asked her if she was alright. I thought a bad day was the reason for her surliness. She informed me she was fine and that everyone wanted her to fetch stuff for them. (Like do her job?!?) I am still waiting for my beverage (I had to pay 17.00 for the privilege of dining with my mother) This was sad as many residents gathered up to an hour early to wait my dining doors to open. The van, a plus for me I thought, to take mother to the doctor, was never available. Even with 3 week notice. No doctor trips, no grocery store. Just used for outings that you had to sign up for. Limited capacity. Her medication was crazy. They promptly took it all away, reordered generic (she had not used the brand new 3 month supply yet) and of course billed us. I was confused. I asked. Still confused. So many meds were ordered and reordered. Why?!? The pool, nope. Cannot use. No life guard. They were refurbishing the pool for access, never saw that happen...yet they failed to mention this on the tour. The bright spots at the Bridges were the maintenance guy. He fixed and repaired and was so nice about it. The lovely woman who did the laundry. What a blessing she is. Kind and sweet. So I took my mother out of there. She was losing weight, was unhappy, was unclean, I was having to clean her room and still taking her places. I was still missing work. I was assisting the assisted living facility. Care: she was inside and safe. Best I can say.

The best part was meeting some of the residents. I so enjoyed talking with and spending time with those that came over to the fair. With my limited experience here, I would definitely recommend checking out this place if you or a loved one is n need of an assisted living facility.

Most of the staff here are caring and compassionate. However, one of the intake counselors was very cold, insensitive, and made for a poor experience in a dark time for our family. I do understand the need for transparency, but telling family members your loved one is being discharged because they basically lasted too long here alive was distressing and unprofessional. Yes, you have policies, and yes, you go through them upon arrival. But my guess is many people trying to navigate the impending loss of a loved one are hardly going to remember everything they are presented with upon arrival at hospice. Several of us, including a pastor, kept dodging the low cabinets with dangerous corners near the patients' beds. The pastor did hit his head while praying over our mom. One day, I had to go to the ER because I cut my head on the cabinet, so beware of these sharp, low corners. You would think there would at least be caution sign or bright tape on them! The bright spots were the beauty and peacefulness of this place, and we also appreciated being able to sleep overnight in our mom's comfortable room. Thank you to the staff who cared for our mom until the very end. It is just a shame not all of the staff was as compassionate. I hope this review will help those contemplating bringing their loved one here.
