Barbara Mattison and her crew did a wonderful job giving my home a facelift. Give her a call. You won't be sorry!

I hired Deb's Inviting Interiors LLC through the Houzz platform and paid a $300 fee for an in-home…read moredesign consultation. The appointment was scheduled approximately two weeks in advance. Deb came to my home as planned, spent several hours on site measuring the space, reviewing the layout, and discussing design goals and potential next steps. Following the consultation, she continued working on the project for several weeks. During this time, she provided multiple communications, including floor plans, 2D and 3D renderings, design ideas, revisions, and product suggestions. We discussed layout changes, flooring options, cabinet placement, lighting, and access for contractors. She also prepared and sent a proposal for full-service design, and a contract was in progress but had not yet been signed. Throughout this period, communication was active and ongoing, and there was no indication that she intended to discontinue the project. She requested future access to the property for contractor reviews, discussed logistics related to the security system, and coordinated potential next steps, all of which indicated that the project was moving forward. After several weeks of ongoing work, active communication, and preparation for the next phase of the project, I was informed by phone that she would no longer proceed. This decision came abruptly and without warning, despite repeated confirmations that the project was moving forward. Given the level of engagement, planning, and coordination that had already taken place, this sudden withdrawal was both frustrating and disruptive. During the phone call in which she withdrew from the project, she stated that she was now afraid and felt unsafe returning to the neighborhood. She explained that her husband had driven through the area, agreed with her assessment, and did not want her to continue working on the project. This was particularly concerning given that she had already spent several hours inside my home without incident, was fully aware of the property, security cameras, and surroundings, and had never previously expressed any safety concerns. The project location had been known from the outset, and these concerns were raised only after weeks of ongoing work and active engagement. Despite the project ending prematurely, the $300 consultation fee was retained in full. No partial refund was offered, even though the work stopped before completion and the design materials provided were acknowledged as unfinished and not suitable for another professional to take over. When I requested a reasonable resolution, my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed in a professional or client-focused manner. While some preliminary concepts were delivered, the way this matter was handled demonstrated a lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for the client's time and investment. Ending a project after weeks of involvement, without meaningful resolution or consideration for the client, is not an acceptable business practice. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business.
