I told her that I wanted a "zen" bathroom that had a calming, spa-like effect, and that I wanted it to be as eco-friendly in design and materials as possible. She not only came up with a beautiful design but she spent countless hours (even while on vacation) to source all the materials for high quality, low cost, and sustainability. She worked closely with our contractor and was here constantly to check on progress. One story of how she goes the extra mile: The day our bathtub was to be delivered, she offered to come by and meet the truck. I didn't see why she wanted to, but I said, sure, knock yourself out. She had the brains to get on the truck and inspect the tub before it disembarked -- and sure enough, it had a huge gouge in the porcelain. She told the driver to take it right back. I never would have known to do that. In addition to the bathroom job, Lexi helped pick out colors and wallpaper for two rooms that were switching from bedroom to office, and they came out great. A great value added with Lexi is that she knows all about Feng Shui and can direct your home's Chi into it's proper place. She is a delightful person and a really great listener. I am very glad our bathroom remodel is almost done, but I'll miss having Lexi around! I wonder what needs remodeling next?

This…read moreis our 5th major project with her since 2008 and she has once again delivered beyond our expectations! The project included a full remodel of the 2nd floor bathroom (21 years old), bedroom attached to bathroom, office and workout/yoga room. Our goal was minimalism with a simple, elegant, organic feel. I had been saying I wanted to go "minimalistic" for years and didn't realize how challenging it would be to make the few items that we needed come together in rooms that we loved. Ultimately, with the careful selection of each item, a lot of "Sherwin William's Pure White" and longer than normal delivery times, it all came together to create beautiful, quiet and peaceful spaces. The biggest challenge of the entire project was all of my bathroom "homework" photos included a floating wood vanity with no cabinets or pipes below. It turned out this was not something you could easily buy. After a lot of researching options, Rebekkah ended up providing a rough draft of the vanity design to our GC, Bennett Construction Company, and they amiably agreed to take on the project and include it in their estimate. The end result is a beautiful white oak vanity that is the focal point of the room. It was essential in creating the warmth needed to balance the space for the organic feel we desired. Each room has a slightly different feel but they are pulled together with color, minimal decor and a subtle sense of peacefulness. We've lived here for 34 years. In all that time we've never up-dated our kitchen other than to…read morereplace appliances. In the meantime, the quarry tile floor developed many cracks. I'd resisted replacing it because of the disruption to our lives. Then the refrigerator started failing. A new one wasn't going to fit. So a cabinet had to be removed. That's when we bit the bullet and found a designer, Glen Lusby, through the "Designer-on-Call" at the Design Center at The Merchandise Mart. He and his associate Patrick helped us decide we could update our kitchen by replacing the flooring and countertops and adding a backsplash. Ultimately we also chose a new sink and surrounded our new refrigerator in a bit of cabinetry and repainted the walls and ceiling. Glen helped us wade through the myriad materials, finishes, colors, and suppliers. Then he suggested some general contractors for us to meet. We met with three. The ABL Group wasn't the least expensive, but they made us the most confident they could complete the work as quickly as possible. He and Patrick were involved throughout the planning and construction. The project was completed in three weeks (except for a couple very minor touch-ups) and on budget (except for some add-ons which we approved). God forbid we have to do any further construction, but if we do we'd unhesitatingly call on Glen Lusby to help us with it.
