I love this church - the priests, the deacons, the people, the building, but most of all because of Jesus. He is always present 24/7!!

This church is so beautiful. Very conservative as they should be. Love the priests and deacons and staff. 24 hour worship available!

It was Christmas time and they were setting up manger-Esque scenes and the folks welcomed me to join them that evening for festivities.

I would have given my right arm for a youth group like that when I was growing up. Two of my kids however didn't like it, and the third one wanted to like it so bad but was not treated very well by some of the young people. It was incredibly clicky and you were ignored and sidelined if you weren't one of the populars. The church also cared about missions, which is good, but I found they didn't care as much about their local flock. Bad - I noticed over the years that the pastoral staff said things about politics that just didn't jive with Biblical concepts. Over time it became more and more clear that they were believers of the liberal news media. Ugly - the straw that broke the camel's back for me was how incredibly little the music pastor said the Sunday after the Charlie Kirk assassination. All he said was, "well, it's been a tough week." And then went on with the rest of the song service. I was stunned! Many people left when the church put a female pastor in charge, which I wouldn't care about, but she seems to be more of a feminist with woke views. I just couldn't attend there anymore.

The Bible is clear that women should not be leading men as a head pastor. I've attended Chapel…read moreSprings now for 15 years but the past 3 years, this church has gone woke where their focus is not on the word of God. Deacons believe we need to "get with the times" but God's word is good for all times. Chapel Springs is no longer chasing God...the are chasing worldly acceptance.

A very nice Candlelight service and Methodist Church. I…read morerecently attended one of the Christmas Candlelight services at Gainesville United Methodist Church and it was a truly uplifting and well-organized experience. There was a volunteer directing parking, which was a huge help given the crowds these services attract and the parking being unfamiliar to visitors like me. The grounds are well-maintained and the church building itself is beautiful, with warm light wood throughout the sanctuary that gives it a cozy feel. Inside, the setup made it easy for everyone to participate. Everyone entering was handed a candle for the traditional candlelight portion. There were live musicians providing accompaniment, and two large screens displayed the lyrics to all the carols and hymns, making it simple to sing along even if you're not familiar with them. They also showed clear maps and directions for communion, which was especially helpful. The church has an open and welcoming policy, especially with communion, they invited everyone to partake, regardless of background, which aligns with the inclusive spirit of the United Methodist tradition. Communion was efficiently organized with four stations, where you received the bread, wine (or juice), and even a small special gift. No chaos--just clear directions on which line to join. There are no traditional collection baskets passed around during communion. Instead, QR codes are provided for digital giving, and the pews don't have kneelers. For the high attendance, they smartly set up overflow seating in the back and in the atrium beyond the glass walls, ensuring everyone had a good view. The service itself was beautifully focused on the Christmas story--the birth of Christ--with meaningful sermons, readings, and music that captured the joy and wonder of the season. It felt heartfelt, organized, and inclusive from start to finish. If you're in the Manassas/Gainesville area and looking for a warm, family-friendly Christmas Eve or candlelight service, I highly recommend Gainesville United Methodist Church. It's a welcoming community that puts on a lovely well-organized spiritual event.

I liked it enough that I officially joined the Church. They offer three different services every Sunday morning: 8:15 am, 9:30 am, and 11:00 am. Pastor John is a fantastic Pastor. He really knows his stuff! Everyone is really nice here! The Church has many activities to get the members involved in helping others - which I think is awesome! They have education programs, youth programs, Bible study, Leadership programs, etc. And social events to get the members together - picnics, dinners, and more! Highly recommended!

Stop looking- if you live near Manassas you should go here…read more I live in Alexandria, but if I lived in Manassas this would be my church. It's a life giving, contemporary church that really gets it: God isn't lame, church shouldn't be either. I have visited there twice and they have dynamic, contemporary worship that is just like you'll get at Hillsong or hear on the radio. Pastor David is as friendly as they come, and they have old, young and many in between in the seats on Saturday night and Sunday mornings. There's no judging, no one cares what you wear or what your background was- they accept you as you are and let you know that God loves you, and so do they. They have small groups, special speakers and lots of opportunity to plug in and see people get lives changed.

But the more I went the less i heard them talk about the bible. I never felt like I left with a message. It seemed like they were more interested in being the popular church instead of investing in programs for the church. One thing for sure which I felt offended as a guest was the preacher telling us since we live in northern VA that we all could afford a $100 offering. I'm pretty sure some of us cannot dish that sort of money every week. The music is good, the vibe is great, it's well organized for a social event and not a way to get a message. I call this the money church.

I attended Calvary Chapel of Manassas (CCoM) for about 12 months during 2007-2008…read more The good: CCoM teaches the Bible line by line instead of topically, the sermons are available in mp3 format online, and they have a great worship team. The bad: After I had attended for awhile, CCoM's pastor, David Spear, told me he was a 9th grade dropout, a former drug addict, and that he was "too opinionated" to attend seminary. While his illegal drug history, lack of formal education and refusal to attend seminary do not prevent David Spear from effectively leading a church, I would have appreciated these items disclosed up front. Also after attending CCoM for awhile and becoming part of the "in" group (CCoM is very cliquish and closed to outsiders), I was invited to an invitation-only meeting of women at the church building that was not advertised in the Sunday bulletin. At this meeting, the women leaders of the church went into detail about how the Bible says that parents should literally spank their children with rods (a stick from a tree) based on reading the Bible book of Proverbs. These women spoke at length verbally about the Bible's command to spank children with the rod but I noticed that they were very careful not to put any of these spank-with-a-stick teachings in the written notes they provided to the participants. At this women's meeting, one of the older mothers with multiple children shared that her husband was going to Home Depot soon to purchase a "board" (not a "stick" but a "board") with which to discipline their 3-year-old special needs child. I was horrified. Since the 3-year-old was in a Prince William County public school special education pre-school program, I went and personally talked to the counselors at the elementary school. The school contacted CPS. The Prince William County elementary school counselor I spoke to told me that it was ILLEGAL in Virginia for a parent to spank their child with anything but their open hand on the child's butt. Teaching parents to spank their children with a rod is probably protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution but it is irresponsible for CCoM not to WARN parents that what they are teaching is illegal in Virginia. The CCoM leaders told me that I had committed a sin by speaking out and that "my reputation was ruined for a season." All the church members defriended me on Facebook. This is the Biblical practice of "shunning" where you punish the sinner with the silent treatment until they repent of their sin. One of the church leaders, Chris Soliday, sent the following email to all the members of the church after I left: "J A is no longer a member of our fellowship. She decided that she did not fit in with all of our beliefs, and needed to move on. She will not be attending any of our small groups, nor be a part of our prayer chain, although we will still pray for her soul. If you have any questions, see Mark Dahl."
