My wife and I went yesterday and there was an older lady that was prophesying before baptizing some younger kids, she was like a dime store fortuneteller, a very blatant display of blasphemy, also the message of give, give, give was also tragic, they prey on the weak minded. There was a so called Pastor AJ that danced around psalm 8 and said he doesn't believe GOD created the world in six days, saying it was more time than that, and he doesn't believe in a young earth either, so that is not sound doctrine. He doesn't believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, therefore don't be deceived by ravenous money hungry wolves, you will not find your fill of true acceptable spiritual worship at this location, thank you. read more

I want to first say that I go to church every seldomly not proud but as a 21 year old, I have a long way to go in my religion, my boyfriend attends community church, today I believe in my spirit that I was supposed to be a this church to hear mr fuller speak. Today I was broken from a dark past to feel more than at home speaking about god and the testimony something that has never happen to me in 21 years. I never thought I would enjoy a non-denominational church but this church fits right in with how I imagine my church experience to be. Currently, the church services are one-hour long and I never feel deprived when I walk away. There are 4 services on Sunday and one on Saturday. They really make it convenient to get the Word in weekly. In the future, the church will be expanding and I am sure the amount of services will dwindle. But the way the church is ran, I am confident the blessings will continue to prosper. Pastor Brett really has found a way to run this church as if it still has a small-church feel. read more

So apparently I'm just getting the memo that I can write a Yelp review for my church, so here it goes! We've been coming to Grace Covenant Chuch (GCC) for almost 5 years. When we moved to the area, we searched for a church for a few months and GCC was the 9th church we visited, but I knew right away it would be our church home. We were looking for a place that was racially diverse, since my better half is white and I'm black, and this is definitely the most diverse church I've attended. They have whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, everyone here. And not only do they have a mix of races, but these people all really do life and church together and it's pretty much the mecca for interracial couples. I actually brought a friend to church once and she asked if GCC was the headquarters for interracial couples.....I laughed because it was funny and pretty true. Also, the church staff is diverse as well. The senior pastor, Pastor Brett, is black, the excecutive pastor, Pastor Jim, is white and the other pastors are a mix of both, it's pretty awesome. There is also a good mix of ages, professions, etc...........this is how churches should be. The preaching/teaching at GCC is awesome and relevant to everyday living which I appreciate. They preach the truth of the Bible without being condemning. The worship team is AMAZING. Seriously they are so talented and I'd rather listen to them than any band I've heard on the radio. The services only last 1 hour which is nice and lets you enjoy the rest of your day. They have 4 services on Sundays - 8:45am, 10am, 11:30am, 12:45pm. This church is a contemporary, non-denominational church that is a great place to worship. You can come in your jeans or 3-piece suit, so no need to sweat your wardrobe. I really love this place and I'm reminded how awesome it is whenever I visit a different church. read more

I casually attended Grace in 2007 and decided to become a member in 2009. The leadership is consistent and does not claim to be perfect (they stay humble and maintain humility), but encourages all people to live at a higher standard (Godly standards). Grace helped me understand who God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are and develop a deeper relationship with each one and helped me understand each of their functions. Grace "practices what they preach" and allows the Spirit to lead all areas of their ministries. God is relational (relationships are the hardest thing in life) so they teach all people how to be relational (at home, at work, in family and friendships, and in evangelistic initiatives, etc). Grace taught me how to get in the presence of God and stay in HIs presence. Grace continues to play an important role in my spiritual walk and sanctification process. For those seeking a theologically sound place of teaching, keep looking. Pastor Brett's theology is of his own make up, he is constantly the hero of his own story, and he often takes liberty with Scripture to fit a church agenda of what he is hoping to accomplish. Brett's bio blurb on the web says nothing about Jesus - it's all about him and his accomplishments. He spins the Word to meet a building campaign goal, a new place to give money (often two offerings are collected per service...one for the general fund and then one for the teens, one for the building campaign, one for the guest speaker, one for anything else that may come up where they didn't receive enough funding). Brett, nor his staff, have graduated from seminary, and their titles of pastor are handed out liberally. There is a belief of corporal punishment for children using paint sticks from Home Depot - even though hitting with an object is actually against Virginia law. Unless one ascribes to every belief Brett speaks from the pulpit, he/she is accused of not following Scripture. Our family chose to attend GCC because we loved the promotion of an ethnically diverse congregation. One that, as Brett often says, looks like Heaven with every tongue, tribe, and nation. We became very involved in small group - and in order to offer a more supportive role, we were required to become members. In order to leave the church, we had to sign paperwork saying we would have an exit interview...this was part of the member application. When we did end up leaving over a series of events that proved unhealthy and spiritually abusive, Brett's claim was that he was sorry we were not following biblical principles outlined in Scripture. Instead of an open posture of hearing our concern, he had to be right and closed the door quickly on further communication. When we left, the small group relationships were almost immediately terminated by those in leadership advising to cut us off. This experience, I'm guessing, is not unique to those who stand up against the group think culture that Brett cultivates. It's definitely not a healthy church. They advertise being non-denominational, but that's not true. They belong to the Every Nation Denomination. Read up on it before stepping foot in the door and decide if this is the direction you want to travel. Stand up...don't be afraid to question if this is where you want to attend. Walk out when something seems really off. Make your voice heard and known. If you are silenced, keep in mind what you know of abusive relationships. read more

Every so often I make my way down to the D.C metropolitan area and when I do I come hear pastor Brett's teachings. From the pulpit to the door you can feel the Holy Spirit working thru his congregation. The music and worship hour is very Hillsong United with a mix of flavor & Pastor Brett never fails with a good message from the word of God. If you are relocating or just looking for a church home this is the place to be. read more

It is amazing how a church with so many diverse people can feel like a close-knit family. Our lives have been truly blessed and we learn an immense amount every time we walk in or tune in. Glad to see Grace seems to be doing well. I was a member for a period of time and during that time I grew as a person and most importantly as a woman of God. However, after yet another conversation with a former member and learning that most of us share the same experience, I thought I needed to share. In a nutshell, "buyers beware". Grace is very cult-like, i.e., everyone "talks" the same. The religious jargon is consistent throughout the congregation. They say all the right scripture at the right time. Additionally, the silent judgment for 1.) Not being married, 2.) Not having a ton of kids and 3.) Not driving the right car or live in the right house is as deep as the ocean. Lastly, the most heartbreaking thing for me to accept was, after you move on, the friends you met & bonded with at Grace will be no longer. They take it very personal when/if you leave the Church. I've learned to work around the hole in my heart and continue to hope for the best for Pastor Brett and his flock.. read more

You would expect a church to be nice and understanding to their workers. My family member accepted an Instacart order requested by this church for 30 CASES of bottled water. They placed the order at 3pm, was accepted by my family member at 3:30, and Grace Covenant expected it to be there by 4. A very short time for a member of Instacart (who usually travels in their own vehicle NOT a delivery truck). Costco did not have 30 cases of the exact water they needed, so he got the item that THEY requested as a replacement on Instacart. He then had to make two separate trips to deliver these waters since it was so many and got them delivered by 4:30. Grace Covenant was rude and inconsiderate, complaining to the man that it was wrong when it is not their fault that the item they wanted was out of stock. Just because it is on Instacart's website does NOT mean it is in stock. This main carried close to 1300 pounds total worth of water to deliver to this church as quick as possible by himself and they cut his tip almost completely because he did not get there in the impossible time that they accepted. Is this how you treat people who are trying to help you when you decide to place a MASSIVE order on a website that is intended for groceries? This makes me never want to step foot in this church ever, seeing how they treat delivery people. read more

I absolutely love this church. It's a place I would be comfortable inviting anyone from any background and not worry if they would be encouraged by the experience. The church is ethnically-diverse, something they are very intentional about. The pastors infuse strong biblical teaching with current life applications. The praise and worship is lively and has strong crossover appeal (in other words, not as dramatic nor reserved as some may be accustomed to). Think Jesus Culture or Israel & New Breed since they both closely resemble worship at Grace Covenant. They make the worship experience one that is comfortable no matter your cultural background. In addition, the people are very warm and friendly. The one-hour services on Sunday start at 9:00am, 10:15am, 11:30am and 12:45pm. There's also a service on Saturday evenings, and a second location in Sterling. They have a number of ways to stay connected outside of Sunday/Saturday services, including bible study small groups in homes throughout the region; midweek service; a very active youth ministry and many others. Childcare is provided for most services and church events. You can find every age demographic well represented at Grace Covenant, including a large number of men active in the ministries (not something I see often). If you're looking for an environment where men seem to enjoy the worship/teaching as much as anyone else, this is a great place to consider. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I REALLY wish the church was a little closer (it's 35 minutes from my home in Arlington on a good day; and 50 minutes from my boyfriend's home in Maryland. All that said, I hope you'll consider it. Enjoy. **There is a Grace Covenant DC which meets in the Gallery Metro movie theater, but it's not quite the same. The pastoral care found in this church is beyond reproach and the community feeling all around is fantastic. I serve in the Children's Ministry and their work with children is substantial - this is not just childcare but teaching children about Christ. Also, the marriage ministry is phenomenal, whether you are just starting (like me) or a seasoned pro, they have classes and workshops and fun nights out to enjoy.
