Holy Nativity really does seem to want to support the community as much as they can.
Some churches just say, "ohh, we have many new families and the keiki get kinda noisy- so let us make a preschool classroom so that they can be in a separate room so that we can worship in church together in quiet." Hey, nothing wrong with that IMO. But they didn't just say that. They went on and said - maybe our community needs a closer nit ohana school- so they built and grew a small school there that serves the needs of Elementary keiki up to 6th grade. They have a small basketball gym that transforms into a stage- very pre-1950 school building design from the mainland that fronted as video projection systems . I'm not saying they use I for that reason now- jus architectural history of why schools and churches built it that way in the past.
Now though, they have invited more of the community to use their space. Some Special Olympics teams meet there in the gym to play basketball and other sports to get ready for area and state games for Special Olympics. It brings in community members and makes the general community area of those with special needs and a chance to help them if they feel obliged.
There is a neat kitchen attached to the gym that allows them to cook and bake for different occasions.
There are also craft fairs every so often and a thrift shop. There seems to be some community activities every now and then showing an alive kind of church community.

Holy Nativity is a congregation in transition. We have a 65-year tradition in East Oahu, from the days when Aina Haina was a fast-growing community of young families to the diverse and busy neighborhoods of today.
We worship together, study together, work together and play together. Our thrift shop is known for great bargains on quality merchandise. Proceeds support our community outreach and helps meet our operating expenses. Holy Nativity School has been a part of our parish family since our very earliest days. An active team visits in private homes and care facilities and will, on request, bring the Eucharist to those who are unable to come to church. Information about our book club, study group, choir, and special activities can be found on the pages of this website.
We welcome familiar faces and newcomers, those exploring the Christian faith, Christians seeking a church home, and practicing Episcopalians. read more
