Holts Bakery has always been a Favorite Place for all your sweets and special treats. I went in on Saturday 5-3-25 at 4:30pm. The girl that waited on me acted like she had been working a 24hr shift, she approached me as if she had just assumed that I hadn't of come in. Like it was an inconvenience for me to be there, and that she had to wait on me. I ordered a chocolate cake, and a Red Velvet cake, and a Dozen Doughnuts. The total came to about $54.00 dollars. I thought to myself, gee! For me to have just spent $54 bucks. You would think that they would have appreciated me more than the bad service that I received. I know that help is hard to find these days, but that girl would not be working for me. The girl at the register was very friendly and appreciative of my business. Great bakery! Only one rude cashier there...I prepaid for an order of their EXCEPTIONAL Holt's honeybuns and was told I could just walk in and pick them up. I get there and this rude brunette cashier was on the phone and by the time she acknowledged me, told me she could not leave the register although my order was right there and she had no one in line. The purpose of my preorder was to avoid 1. Missing out on the hard-to-get honeybuns and 2. Standing in the relentless line...luckily the nice young lady who took my order the previous day saw me and ran over and gave me my order. That said, Holt's overall is GREAT for such a small town bakery and REST of the staff is very sweet. The prices are a little up there but worth it. Those people work hard and I'm sure the prices have to do with the quality of food and service we receive. I wish we could give half stars, so I could give 4.5, as 4 stars isn't exactly fair. The rude cashier is the only thing I give a negative to. I just wish they made MORE honeybuns and lemon sticks. Best bakery for MILES! read more

Their overall in-store ordering and holiday pick-up leave a lot to be desired. It is very unorganized when the bakery is crowded, and there seems to be little designated management or anyone who acts like management to assist staff or customers. The casseroles are good, but the cooler cakes all taste the same. Just a suggestion when it is busy: have designated lines (pick-up only, ordering something in-store). That would expedite things for your employees and customers. After waiting behind twenty people just to pick up items and while three employees either did not help us, tried to figure out if they were going to help us, or how to get out of helping us, we waited five minutes on a lady to pick out one specific cupcake and ask price checks on several other items she did not buy. read more

Two words... Tea Fills! When I fly across the US to visit family, this is one of my first and last stops in Douglas. The Coconut and Sour Cream pound cake deserve honorable mention for being excellent products. They have a lunch buffet that I have heard Is outstanding, but have never tried. I went to Holts Bakery today to receive my cake & cookies for my baby shower. The cake looked very good. That was the ONLY thing that was decorated good. The COOKIES WERE CRAP! Not only were the cookies not finished being cooked, the ICING DECORATIONS were BEYOND messed up! Didn't not come out like I liked. I can't go back to get them redone due to the shower being the NEXT DAY. ALL 16 COOKIES WERE POORLY MADE!!! I am a VERY UNSATISFIED customer right now. read more

A dear friend of mine took me on a tour of her hometown over the weekend and one of the stops was Holt's. I was eager to taste the infamous Creamstick that I've heard so much about over the years. I grew up having Thanksgiving dinners with my grandmother in Douglas, GA. She always bought me a three-layer chocolate cake from Holt's. Simple, but by far the most delicious cake I've ever had. The last time I had it was two years ago. My aunt brought me a slice when we were in Alabama. It was wrapped in tin foil, a couple days old, and kept refrigerated - kinda smashed, too. STILL the best cake I've ever eaten. Only complaint: They won't ship! I've offered to pay whatever it would cost to ship, but they won't. :( Guys, I love your cake. Please send me some. read more

I like Holt's Bakery for Breakfast , Lunch and especially the Bakery side. All items Fresh. I have to be careful when I am given a chance in the Bakery. Pecans have gone up in price year and they have had to follow suit to keep those cakes , pies and cookies that have pecans available to the public. Best deal on the Cafeteria Line is the 1/2 priced cake and pies. They taste the same as the Fresh ones or at least they are so close in taste you will not mind eating a slice of cake at 1/2 price - or you can afford to buy 2 for 1. Good chicken , good dressing. Try the breakfast. Old timers often hang out here in the AM. read more

Doughnuts are fantastic as well as meals. Breakfast is my favorite. Cakes are out of this world.

I like to stop by on occassion. Their birthday cakes taste sub-par to how they used to as the last 2 I purchased were dry & generally not good. BUT with that being said, I'm still a fan of other desserts...love the oatmeal-filled cookies & my oldest son is crazy about their tea fills! read more

I lived in Fitzgerald and would stop at Holts sister bakery almost every morning and pick up a chocolate milk and a lemon stick. I have moved to another state and when I come to town to visit family (really to visit Holts) I ALWAYS pick up a dozen lemon sticks. Have also visited the main bakery in Douglas. Great home cooking. Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreame can't come close to Holts. read more
