HOLMDEL: one of the most beautiful parks we have been to, Holmdel Park (part of the Monmouth County Park System) has scenic trails to walk your dog and get a good workout or just enjoy a leisurely stroll. Joined by Zoey the Maltichon, we followed an easy and gorgeous trail around the pond. There is an arboretum along this path that we'll have to explore next time. Crossing over a wooden bridge is so much fun and seeing all the beautiful plants in bloom makes everything so nice. Then we followed the path into the woods and picked up a couple of trails that eventually looped back around. It was really pleasant with easy to moderate difficulty and some grades. Pets are not allowed at the Longstreet Farm. I've only been here a couple times, but this is a very beautiful park, that puts the one I live by to shame. It's clean, lush, nice trails, plenty of picnic tables, cool playgrounds (young and older kids), large fields, tennis courts, beautiful pond area, and an animal farm. Brought my kids out for some fresh air and they had a great time on the playgrounds, which were well maintained. The best playground is on the top of the hill at Holmdel Park. It has this large hexagonal shaped structure with intricate netting inside for kids to climb in. There's also a small suspended bridge, and large tire swing. It was a long drive but well worth it.

Drove around Jersey and I knew I had to stop here when I saw cows roaming around! The park itself is absolutely beautiful with hike trails, ponds where you can fish if you have a permit, and they have a farm in there too. I felt like a little kid all over again. We saw peacocks, pigs, sheep, cows, 3 cats running away from me, and other animals. It was a nice peaceful walk around.

Beautiful park. Looks like it came right out of a movie.

Holmdel Park is a beautiful. I've come during the spring and fall and the arboretum is absolutely breathtaking. The smell of the flowers, interesting trees and well tended grass is very relaxing. Great place to take a date or have a picnic at. I'm jealous of everyone who lives close to Holmdel Park. I'd never get tired of it. You really can't find something like this in the city, not even Central Park comes close to the space and peacefulness that Holmdel offers. It's not crowded and you're surrounded by the sky, nature and farm animals. There has been this cute and friendly little black and white cat that walks around. There are cows, horses, and sheep you can look at. City folk will really appreciate this place. Trust me. Oh and parking is free.

Holmdel Park is a Monmouth County Park Located in Holmdel, NJ. There is always something going on no matter what the season is. The park is built around one of the older farms in Holmdel. The farm has been preserved and children and adults will enjoy walking around and observing the animals. On the weekends you can tour the farm house. The workers/volunteers on the farm dress in period outfits and work the fields using horses and tools from an earlier time. The park also has hiking trails, an activity center and an arboretum. In the winter there is a large sledding hill. In the upper part of the part are tennis courts and a second play ground. During the weekend there are often groups having picnics or meeting up for bike rides. This a great place to spend a couple of hours relaxing and exploring.

Finally a warm enough day to get outside and we pounced on the thought of it. We came here early spring. The husband looked for a hike on a njhiking website and found a hike through this park. We were excited and came down. Most of the hike was along a gravel walking path along grass fields, once in the woods you did feel a bit removed but some trail markers were a bit confusing and missing in some spots and the trail map was fairly useless. This would be a great place to take the kids, let them play on the newer jungle gym or visit the farm house below. It's more of a play park than hiking destination. With that said, it was very clean and pretty so I can see how so many people love it.

Ask the Community - Holmdel Park

Are bikes allowed, or a path for one?

Bikes are allowed on the concrete paths on the bottom level, and on the roads. It would be difficult to bring a bike on any other walking paths so most bikers keep them on the roads.

Through a Facebook post from Longstreet Farms and The Associated Humane Society of Tinton Falls now I know. Recently a pig named Elmo was rescued from the slaughterhouse in Marlboro. He was sold off when he was no longer needed by the farm. This is not a place I will be bringing my kids to any longer. This is a living history museum. There is no reason for these animals to be bred/sold at any point. This is not a for profit farm. It is a place to learn about historical farming practices. I always thought it was a sanctuary for the animals there. If they cannot care for the animals then they should not be there. Plenty of other ways to teach the community about farms without using live animals for entertainment.
