Whenever we suggested a strategy that she disagreed with, she would turn defensive and was quick to tell us that we were welcome to seek out other counsel. That hardly seemed fair after more than a year of working with her and paying for her services. Untimely and delayed communication and actions, poor analysis of our case, and a lack of attentiveness to the emotional tax we expressed to her due to her actions made matters worse. The way Alex treated us is not how people should be treated. Particularly in these kind of circumstances that are often difficult to begin with. After over a year of our lives and thirty thousand dollars in fees paid to her, we found that all it took for the opposite side was to be stubborn and use Google to outmaneuver her and outwork her. Ultimately, we resorted to firing Alex. We hired a more experienced attorney who took the time to listen, worked with our proposed strategy, and combined that with their expertise in the law. In a matter of weeks, our case was resolved. The second attorney we hired, while more expensive hourly, totaled a cost that was a fraction of what we would have spent had we kept working with CBM Lawyers and Alex Watkins. For someone who deals with family matters regularly, Alex showed very little compassion and empathy. More importantly, she failed to deliver results in our best interest.
