Mmmm...DROP! What a great ride. I really liked everything about it from the hotel decor and design to the uniforms and of course the ride itself. Even though I knew the drop was coming and thought I'd prepared for it, I was still caught off guard in all the good ways. It was super fun and I'm glad I did it. Definitely worth checking out. read more

First time to Disney as an adult and I've ALWAYS heard about this ride so I had to wait and see what the hype was about... I will say the lines are always long no matter the time of year or day. The decor and ambiance of the ride was amazing I felt like I was in a real hotel! Now the ride... I give it a 7/10. I honestly thought it was a long drop... thankfully it wasn't! I do think this was a 1 time experience for me read more

I'm feeling lightheaded from the service elevator dropping us to the basement! Clearly this place deserves 1 big whopping star for that frightful experience. The ambiance has a vibe I can't quite put my finger on, other than to say ... eerie. The maid service is severely lacking - dust and cobwebs everywhere! I was going to check in and stay a few days but was put off by the lackluster customer service delivered by bellhops needing some vitamin D! Furthermore WHO is running the front desk here?! The line was around the block and it was dead silent inside, not to mention I swear I saw some apparitions! I only recommend going here if you're looking for terror! read more

If you say the wait time is 60 minutes and we are still waiting 90 minutes in.. that's not good. We were in the door to the right turning left to the ride. The door opened to left of us in the hallway only to let the peeps in the left room come out in front of us. Not good! Give better times and better timing! read more

The valet staff out front was entirely pleasing though they sent us through a labyrinth to find the main entrance. The check in area was a tad dusty and full of cobwebs but we were cheerily welcomed. The main elevator was out of commission so they let us use the service elevator. A little bumpy and thumpy but we survived. 10/10 would try to check in again. read more

Every time we stay here the visit is... well, unforgettable. First off, the parking is so far away that you have to take a tram - and even then its another long walk once they drop you off at the property entrance. There is often a long line to even enter the lobby. Expect to wait a long time in it before you can check-in. While the grounds are lush, there is a foreboding feeling that I can't seem to brush off. The fountain water is gone and looks to be in poor condition. Once you enter the lobby you will find that it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in many years. There are cobwebs on the chandeliers, tables and pretty much everything. For the price they charge you would expect the upkeep to be better. The elevators here are a joke. You have to go through the boiler room and take the maintenance service elevator to go to your room. Then it gets worse. The elevator goes crazy going from floor to floor. Its so bad that we always leave at that point. We have been back many times but while the floors we go to changes we still never get to our room. You would think we would learn. I just can't recommend this hotel based on our experiences here. read more

I keep making reservations at this hotel; although, for the life of me, I can never remember our room. We are always greeted warmly and taken to the elevator. We are promised a splendid room, but it seems as though we stay on an endless trip up and down the elevator. Thankfully, the elevator has windows which offer the most beautiful views, especially at night. It just almost seems as though our entire stay here is inside the elevator... it's like we're trapped in some odd version of The Twilight Zone! Maybe in the future, we should consider taking the stairs.... read more

I have been staying here for a number of years now. The interior and exterior leave much to be desired but something keeps calling me back here. I have elite status with a competing hotel and try to stay there whenever I'm in the area but every now and again I just find myself here, I can't explain why. On my most recent stay, I was accompanied my a very dear friend of mine. We were greeted by a bellhop at the entrance who confirmed our reservation and allowed us to enter the line. Upon checking in, we were told that the room wasn't quite ready yet and were invited to hang out in the library. Due to elevator issues which is not unusual in this place, we were sent to the boiler room and had to use the service elevator. Something was very different about this elevator but I can't quite put my finger on it. This is odd considering my travel companion and I both have backgrounds in property management and are very familiar with elevators. I wish I could comment on the room but neither one of us remembers much from the moment we entered the elevator until checkout. This is the only hotel I know of that makes you exit through the gift shop. read more

Update now nine hundred ninety five. This on September 18, 2021. Glad indeed this hotel at least for now, remaining open. The General Manager is Rod Serling. Yes indeed there is a Floor Thirteen. Yes saw a swimming pool. Thank goodness in Florida, where even very early morning not that cold temperature way. Insects need eighty degrees plus to fly. I have yet to "rescue" any insects. Thank goodness that one certain Sacramento hotel, they always seem to email this hotel, ask them to please include complimentary breakfast. All you want to eat as fourteen dollars before tax. What great savings that way. Yes some items this hotel may seem creepy. I have not really seen too much creepiness. read more

My favorite drop ride ever. On my trip to Disneyworld, i was able to ride The Tower Of Terror Twice and man it was fun. Somehow i got lucky enough to get my own ride in the morning, a rarity at Disney. I did miss the version in California until, i rode Tower Of Terror @ Hollywood Studios the first time. It's outstanding, especially the part of the ride, where you break apart from the first elevator shaft, the train then rolls into another lift elevator while passing through a show scene. If you're a fan of thrill rides, this is a must ride read more

I always dread my stay here, but once it is over, I look back fondly and think "it wasn't that bad, right?". But, then I remember all of the screaming I did because of those pesky broken elevators and I remember to dread my next visit. My heart just can't take it, especially since the staff here does nothing to calm your nerves! read more

First off, the checkin was awful. The wait was really long (like 120 min). Likely the front desk representatives causing the backup. They weren't even apologetic for the wait and rushed us along to the elevator. We then found that the main elevator was down for service, which isn't surprising. By the look of disrepair and cobwebs, they are likely in between management. We were forced to use the service elevator, by way of the library(all the books were locked up). The introduction video was cultural and unique. I did like how it offered a history on the hotel. We were led through the boiler room to the service elevator and didnt even make it to our room after we were scared half to death by the lack of maintenance given to the elevator. We aren't faint of heart, but that elevator wasn't working properly, no matter what the manager says. I would not recommend this hotel. read more

This is a really nice creepy looking place to stay, but for some crazy reason the elevators like to toss you up and down a lot, and you never actually make it to your room! Don't try to stay here right after a meal (unless you're in line for over an hour), because you might toss it to a fellow guest (which is gross man). Tips: Stroller parking is free and car parking is prohibited, leave your pets at home, and hang on for dear life! read more

I dropped in for a stay after a long drive from Chicago. I was wary and I was just looking for a bed. As I entered the lobby, I immediately noticed cobwebs on the once glamorous chandeliers and furniture. I shrugged it off, purely from exhaustion. I stepped to the front desk, where a bored, ghostly looking young lady stood. I asked her the price of the room and she looked at me with a odd smile. She expressed that prices were always falling at the Hollywood Tower Hotel and that was good enough for me. Beware, no wifi or complimentary breakfast at this place, cell service isn't great either, which is fine because rates are so low. I'm now on my way up to my room as we speak. Unfortunately, the main elevators are out of order, so I was led to a service elevator by an strangely quiet elderly gentlemen. I will update this review when I am finished with my stay. I'm sure everything will be fine. read more

Very dusty, avoid if you have allergies or are scared of ghosts. Pretty sure the bellman stole my bags. Have good security systems though. Saw a lot of elevator repair men around, seems fairly safe tho. Avoid the 13th floor. read more

I went to this place to stay for my summer vacation, and before a word went into my thoughts a ghostly looking man said 'What comes up must come down here at the hollywood tower hotel!" I assumed it was a prank. I stayed in room 666 and as soon as i opened the door there were cobwebs everywhere! There was no Wifi, Breakfast, or even Room Service! So i just layed on my rat infested bed. The place looks like a they never cleaned in 90 Years, The Service was a bit Suspicious, and im pretty sure i heard screams everywhere i went. After 3 Hours of Screams, Breaking Glass, and Rod Sterling, I managed to walk out of there without paying a dime! I recommend using a way way way way way way way better hotel chain then this place! read more

Our vacation to Orlando got off to a rocky start upon checking into the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Do not let the lush greenery and landscaping fool you, the Hollywood Tower has seen better days. Upon arrival to the Hotel we were greeted (if you would consider the bellhops staring deeply into your eyes and greeting you with a hhheeelllllloooooo) by a small contingent of bellhops dressed in old wool, hop uniforms. They offered to take our bags, but now that I think about it, I can't recall ever giving them out bags, or them delivering our bags. We were given a room on the top floor with a view of the grounds. The windows in the room would fly open in the middle of the night, almost as if the room were haunted! Getting to our room was the craziest adventure. The doors on the main floor jammed closed, so to even get on the elevator we had to go on an adventure through the stairwell, down to the boiler room before we could even get on the elevator. Once we got on the elevator we were instructed to lock ourselves in (wwhhaatt) before finally getting any movement. We were lucky that we were strapped in because the ride was bumpy. I'm surprised that with the dips, drops on the elevator that It even pass inspection. On our third night during a thunderstorm the entire hotel lost power. I'm pretty sure that the tower had been struck by lightening, but can't quite be sure. Be warned, that there are some quarks to the place . read more

As an avid runner, I was excited to see the Hollywood Tower Hotel hosting an endurance running event. At 10 miles, this was to be my biggest and longest run to date, and for ease and convenience, I booked at room at the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Upon arrival we made our way up the lushly landscaped and well manicured lawns and came towards the main entrance area. Here was where we began to question our decision to stay at the HTH. Empty ponds and fountains were littered with dead foliage and as we made our way into the lobby we started to notice how the upkeep inside was vastly different from that of the grounds, cobwebs hung about, they offered no wifi, they didn't even take credit cards! The staff at the HTH was not overly helpful or friendly. They mostly shuffled us from room to room, which in their defense, they did quite well. We made our way into the library and after a brief power outage we were able to make our way to the elevators. They told us our room was waiting for us on the 13th floor, which to be honest made me quite uneasy. Still, I was determined to get the most out of our trip and that included staying at the host resort. Well to be honest, I'm not 100% sure of what happened next. So far as I could tell, while we were in the elevator the Tower was struck by lightening!? The power went nuts and for a minute I could swear that we were moving forward, not just up or down as most elevators do. My friend told me I must have been in some sort of shock from the lightening striking the tower. The lights dimmed and we were stuck there for a moment in the pitch black darkness... Next thing you know the power must have given out completely because we started to plunge at high speeds down the elevator shaft! The back up generators kicked on and we were whisked up high, towards our 13th floor when the power went out AGAIN! Once more we plummet towards the lobby only to be saved once more by the generator. This went back and forth for what felt like an eternity, trapped between the heavens and the earth. Helplessly dropped and tossed in our elevator car! We finally made it back down to the lobby, where upon exiting the elevator the staff acted like nothing had happened. I'm not sure what sort of training the staff here receives, but I can tell you it is not one based in customer service as they refused to acknowledge anything had happened out of the ordinary! We left the Hollywood Tower Hotel and quickly made reservations to stay at the All-Star Music Resort instead! I must say, however; that the experience in the Hollywood Tower Hotel really stayed with me and I did a great job on my 10 Mile Run, despite the bizarre experience we were subjected to. read more

This would be a beautiful hotel if it were better maintained. We did not see one housekeeper, it was as if they had all gone to another dimension! The hotel does have an extensive library, elaborate lobby, plentiful opportunities for playing Mahjongg, and apparently a billiards room - which we did not have the opportunity to take advantage of. The Tip-Top Club has never been open, and I feel like we just walked around their stately rose garden and arboretum (which would also be beautiful if they'd fix that fountain that looks like the San Andreas Fault). The elevators never work, and our room has never been ready when we arrive. I feel like we always have to shuffle through the musty, dark boiler room to get anywhere. The staffs' uniforms are extremely out of style, but drop-dead snazzy. Also, our luggage vanished into thin air! Bellhop TJ was very understanding, yet seemed to think we'd never see them again. Despite all this, the atmosphere was wonderful and we will absolutely visit again on our next visit. read more

For souvenirs, that was one of my favorite besides the Souk-al-Magreb in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. It seemed there was more merchandise here with the Tower of Terror theme, than any other shop has in the kingdom for their respective themed rides. There were still some general Disney souvenirs, but limited to pins and jewelry. read more

No complimentary breakfast, couldn't find the pool, and the elevator ride was incredibly rough. No WiFi which should be standard in all hotels these days. The hotel has recently reopened, and it's pretty darn nice. The staff are nice, but kind of creepy. The hotel needs to be cleaned up, and it has cobwebs and stuff everywhere. The good part is that it is near Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios, so you can see other tourists from your room. The elevator is down for maintenance, but it's fine, because we get to go through a lovely library, down to the service elevator, which is in the boiler room. The elevator may look old, but at least it has comfy seats! read more

I really don't rides that drop so it took a lot of guts to ride this ride. The wait time was short so I decided to try it after reading reviews on Yelp. I liked the old mansion covered in cobwebs. I used to enjoy the old Twilight Zone TV shows a long time ago and this ride is themed to the show. You really feel like you are a part of the story. I enjoyed the story line of the ride but once in the old maintenance elevator I kept anticipated the drop. There were small children and since it was only a lap belt I figured I could do this. I loved the visions of ghosts and the scenes of the ride however yep- it does have a dropping sensation and you rise from your seat as the elevator falls. A feeling I don't like. I am glad it wasn't too far of a drop and it was over before I knew it. I am glad I did it but once is enough for me. read more

I must say this hotel is definitely an experience. Our room, 1237 east was absolutely gorgeous, with such beautiful views. the staff were so welcoming and friendly with such prompt service! I sent some shirts to be laundered at book-in and they were ready sharply by six for our dinner at 8. If you can, spend that little extra money for the reservation at the TipTop Club. There was a line of people when we arrived at the hotel, and once we got inside, it was easy to see why. There was no one working at the check-in desk! I managed to find a bellhop to hand my luggage off to, but he simply herded us into the library. From what I hear, the elevators have been on the fritz for YEARS. Definitely wish I had taken the stairs. The entire building is musty and in need of a good dusting. Our room had bizarre lighting and even stranger artwork. DO NOT STAY HERE!! read more

Some features are a library, a well kept garden and some historic areas. It feels like my stay was full of ups and downs, and the service was pretty ghastly but it had some great views.
