Water quality is poor, would not eat the fish or swim in this lake /Flint River. Docks are well kept and good for a boat ride only.

I give this lake 5 stars because it fulfils all I require from a laking experience. Some folks like…read morea mini jobie nooner every weekend, I like to chill. I don't want to hear other people's children "playing" or whatever it is they do that's so loud. I don't want to vie for space on the sand bar. I don't want to hear other people's music, or see them dancing. You get the point, I'm not into the social scene that can be typical of Michigan lakes. You might be saying "why don't you get your own lake then you anti social jerk?". Well, that's basically what Orchard Lake is. It's amazing. There is literally like, no one on this lake 99% of the time. If you're lucky enough to be able to boat during the weekdays, you can often be the ONLY person on the water. You could totally lay out nude and no one would even be around to see you. The busy weekends don't really seem busy, and I have yet to feel crowded or annoyed. It's silent, peacful, serene and relaxing. Perfect. This is a VERY clean lake, and I believe it's the second or third largest in Oakland County. The water is clear and sparkling in most areas except for the very deepest parts. There is only seaweed in a few spots but these are not the chill areas and are easy to avoid. I love the variety of wildlife that can be seen on this lake including egrets, swallows, hawks, ducks, swans and lots of cute little fish that seem happy to hang out by the humans. The sandbar is spotless, probaly due to the "no drinking" poloicy that we, of course, follow to a T. LOL. The no drinking policy is most likely what keeps this lake fairly empty, and it works for me.

Orchard Lake - Nice and empty, one major advantage of this lake during the week. No Cass lake bs here.

It is a great addition to the area to extend your hike, or mountain bike a couple of miles further through a 150 acres of natural wooded landscape area that is mostly shaded. The park is pet friendly and offers access to Kearlsey Creek for fishing and to Goodrich Millpond for kayaking or canoeing. The park is open year-round from 8 am to sunset daily. There is a small unpaved parking area and a Porta-Potty at the entrance.

I had to instinctively hold my nose and waft the air like a cartoon character. After I actually got in the park/forest I was AGAIN greeted by a fresh pile of animal droppings which isn't the parks fault but just really gross. All of the fishing areas were blasphemously far from the entrance which is where i wanted to go. While walking the trail I came into contact with poison ivy MORE THAN ONCE I was scratching my legs the entire time. Bug spray is a must on this adventure bring multiple cans.My brother fell in the mud and his clothes are filthy now! Midway through our walk we came across BEAR TRACKS which promptly advised us to GET OUT OF THERE, so we did and let me tell you, I was already angry and tired and itchy from the walk and the amount of uphill trails i had to climb didn't make it any better. My dad was scared by a squirrel, he screamed like a girl. Scenery was nice, 2/5 stars would not recommend.
