Sorry to say, because it looked like it had so much potential from the outside. 3 of us sat down to have afternoon tea. My sister was visiting us, so I brought her here based on the old reviews. Sad to say, I should've done more research. Tea was a disaster. The tea was mediocre, scones weren't very good at all, and the tea sandwiches were disappointing. The place felt very dark and dusty, and the decor was very tired looking. The servers looked very tired and nervous as well. I feel that with a bit more effort, the experience would change for the better, as the location is good. Overall, a poor experience, so I won't be returning.

A little, quaint shop on the high street. On walking in I had to wait at the counter 10mins to have a table pointed out where I could sit. By the time hubby came in having parked the car a long distance away, I still hadnt been served, the table hadnt been cleared from the previous person & I didnt have a menu. Finally we served to find out that they don't even serve devonshire teas (scone, jam, cream & a cup of tea)! I asked if they didnt serve this as the norm, I'd pay extra to have some jam & cream, but they said they couldnt do that. Despite coming out of the front counter & requiring no preparation, the scone took 20mins to arrive at my table- 2m away. It was the driest, hardest I have ever had. .When I pointed this out to the lady serving, she didnt appologise, but just said thats how they are. Maybe we were there on a bad day, but that staff seemed too busy to care & the scones are dreadful.

This place never turns away an animal and so they have many birds, dogs, pigs, alpacas, ponies, etc. The volunteers take good care of the animals and they need your support. People actually drop off boxes of animals during the night here. Bring your children and let them feed the animals right out of their hands. It's a real delight. On a macabre note, directly attached to this farm is a pond where the Witchmaster General drowned hundreds of young women he accused of witchcraft in the 1600s. Now it's a home to beautiful swans, geese, moorhens and other waterfowl. Across the street is a beautiful old church that's open all day long for visitors. Inside the church you can purchase homemade jams, marmalade and jelly for a pound or two. It's beautiful inside and out.

(This is what I am told by a reliable source) The meat always looks nice and fresh and they are always having offers on for example but a kilo of mince meat get one free. On Christmas eve when I was going to work at 8-15am there must have been at least 100 people outside waiting for the butchers to open to get their meet for Christmas so if that isn't a good indication of the quality of the meet what is? The owner of this butchers shop has just bought the bakery next to it as the owner passed away. The butcher is keen to keep the traditional shops going in the village.
