Devin is super fun and entertaining. She is so knowledgeable. I wish I could remember all of the things she said in her class! You will be entertained and leave, a much more knowledgeable mixologist, for sure! read more

The BEST class I have ever taken in my entire life. If you are looking for a fun mixology class, Devin IS YOUR GIRL!!! I went with my friends to this class for a birthday and had the most fun ever. Devin is so fun and knows her stuff! She spent some time at the beginning talking through some of the science behind cocktails which was super intriguing, informative, and entertaining! Then we were able to make 3 cocktails of our own choosing with the different alcohols, flavored bitters and tinctures, natural sweet juices, and other mixers. Then Devin one-by-one tasted everyone's cocktail to add suggestions that drastically improved a good cocktail into a phenomenal cocktail. It was honestly such an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone! We learned sooo much about mixology while having so much fun and being creative making our own cocktails! She's got only 5-star reviews on Google for a reason!!! read more

Who knew that education could be so animated, engaging and fun? Our group of more mature cocktail connoisseurs learned a ton new tricks to fix experimental disasters. And we got permission to purchase liquor from the third shelf down! Devin is a class act making sure that everyone received a personal service. Would highly recommend. Be prepared to have your expectations exceeded! read more

10/10. This is by far and wide the best mixology / cocktail class I've ever taken (and I've taken a few). My husband got my friend and I the class for Christmas and I wasn't sure what to expect, but we had an absolute blast. Devin is extremely engaging, keeps things fun, but is also extremely informative. I learned a TON and really appreciated being able to use the science to build my own cocktail rather than following a recipe card that I would eventually file away and forget about. Her method of teaching and the feedback along the way to perfect your creation was such a unique and fun experience. She also told some great stories with humor along the way that helped to solidify the concepts. I walked out thinking two things: 1) Wow, can I really just concoct ideas without googling recipes!? I think I can! and 2) I would love to do it again and bring family and friends. In absolute awe of Devin's background, craft, and business - she is the real deal. read more

We had such an amazing time at Devin's Mixology class 4/4!! I never knew mixing cocktails and learning chemistry could be so damn fun!! Devin got our creative juices flowing weather your a bitter, sweet, sour, salty or umami person.... you'll learn how to make the perfect cocktail!! This is a must do in Chi-town! read more

Second time attending Devin's cocktail class. So much fun, so much information, I'd go again! Nothing else like it. Don't miss this class. read more

Tldr: very impressed, really fun time, and would 100% do again. I took my friend for his birthday and we both had an amazing time! Devin had everything prepared and ready to go when we arrived and had amazing energy to get us in the mood to make our own drinks. Something I did not fully realize going into this class (but appreciated after the fact), is that everyone had autonomy to make our own drinks- they were not prescribed to us. That way we were able to make drinks we were interested in. Devin broke down the chemistry behind making cocktails and explained how our body handles taste and temperature differences in drinks. Liquors available: -vodka -gin -tequila -whiskey There were also a variety of sweet and savory mixers she had prepared (such as cold brew, tart cherry juice, mango juice, and more), along with a wide variety of bitters and garnishes. The part I was most impressed by (besides her really fun personality and way of explaining cocktails) was that she offered to sample each person's drink they made and with pin-point accuracy was able to tell people what to add/change to make the drink taste better. With her guidance, I'm really happy with how my drinks turned out and I learned a lot about how to make adjustments if I'm not happy with the taste of it! Transparently if you do a public class, you don't know which bar this is going to be held at until a week before the class, but it can be a fun way to branch out and try a new place. read more

Check in with family members before buying tickets because if they happen to unexpectedly die, she will not care! Bought tickets as a present for my fiancé for his birthday. Unfortunately, on his birthday, his sister unexpectedly passed away and he needed to leave IL to fly back to NY to be with his family and make arrangements for her funeral. I had read that there is a very strict cancellation policy, which is understandable, but I simply asked if there was any way we can reschedule. She basically told me I was SOL unless I found someone else to come to the class in our place. I even offered to send a death certificate/obituary as some kind of proof. She has not answered me regarding any of this. read more

I'm going to throw on yet another 5 star review because unfortunately you can't give more than 5 on Yelp format. I moved to Chicago 4 years ago and this is easily the best experience I have had since I moved here. Devin is not only a savant with cocktail making, but she is a fantastic educator, a warm person, and frankly just damn fucking entertaining. She breaks down the chemistry of cocktail making do that it's idiot proof, and then walks you through the basis of CREATING and modifying cocktails instead of just mastering cocktails out of a book. Even if you want to bring friends or a date that isn't into cocktails, they are going to have a fantastic time because Devin gasses up the room and livens your night. It's a tour de force. read more

Taking this class was a gift for my boyfriends birthday and we loved it! Such a fun activity to do -- Devin is phenomenal! The class was so entertaining but I also learned a ton. Will be recommending to everyone I know! read more

This was one of the best events I've attended in general. If you enjoy the alcohol, or learning this event will blow you away. Devin is an absolute joy! I went into this class not knowing what to expect. Right away Devin makes every member who attends the class comfortable. You start with either Vodka, Tequila, Gin, or Whisky. Then you have your assortment of mixtures. Devin provides clear and concise details with an exhilarating personality. If you lack any confidence in mixing your cocktails, I promise you'll walk away thinking you're the best to lay hands on alcoholic beverages read more

My Gemini sister Devin is the best. She is passionate, energetic, hilarious, and knowledgeable and leads a really fun class where you'll also learn a lot. She clearly knows her stuff and dazzled us with her ability to fix a "f*ck boy" cocktail with just a couple drops of clove bitters. Great idea for a fun date night or with a group of friends. read more

Was looking for a unique birthday gift for my father in law and found this. Super fun night out. On the more experience side for sure but now have been to the class worth every penny. Not only do you learn the art and the science to cocktails but you actually get to mix your own cocktails. I definitely made a few stinkers but Devin was able to coach me through what went wrong and how to fix it. I highly recommend this class!! read more

Hollow Leg - Cocktail in a plastic glass with mixers behind. - Party & Event Planning Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Devin was absolutely fantastic! Her enthusiastic personality set the tone for an unforgettable experience. I arrived at this mixology class with no prior knowledge of Devin's accomplishments so it was great to hear that she placed first in a national cocktail competition and subsequently third in the international version! The best part about this class was gaining insight into the science behind why cocktails taste the way they do in our mouths and how to mix and match the different elements of a drink to create something different. Her knowledge really shone through - especially when she tried our finished creations and gave us tips on how to tweak the flavor to our likings. I'd say this class is a step above most regular mixology classes because it taught us why we should make cocktails a certain way and not just how to mix a few ingredients together. And of course, Devin's winning personality can't be beat! We will definitely want to come back to experience this again and I can't recommend it highly enough. read more

I don't leave many reviews because I'm not a huge fan of Yelp, but Devin absolutely deserves a 5-star review and then some! I signed my brother's bachelor party up for a class and it was incredible! As a bar manager, the best part was the simplification of how to make a quality cocktail. With endless energy and personality, Devin teaches how to blend flavors without getting too technical. What everyone ends with in just a couple hours is a great time and more knowledge in how to craft your own drinks at home. Quite frankly, I'm using one of my concoctions at my bar in the near future. An absolutely amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for an experience like this. 100% worth the price of admission (probably more like 200%) read more

Devin always brings the party! Her passion for creating the perfect cocktail is readily apparent. My friends and I had a blast learning how to craft a delicious cocktail. I recommend Hollow Leg for any party that you want to take to the next level. read more

I bought this class for my husband as a birthday gift and was NOT disappointed. Devin was AWESOME! I walked into the class thinking the only alcohol I could tolerate the taste of was vodka. In two hours, I made (and drank) three delicious cocktails from gin, whiskey and rum. Devin coaches you through the basic chemistry of a great cocktail in the most entertaining way. I learned so much and had a blast! And, my husband had a great time too. He discovered that he has a unique palate, and Devin worked with him to determine how he can really open up his senses to different drinks. She was incredible! I can't say enough good things. If you're looking for a great mixology class where you don't just learn how to make the "boring" standard drinks, this is it! read more

Hands down this is a super FUN and super informative class! My husband and I and our friends all had a fantastic time and learned so much. Devin is amazing - her energy and enthusiasm is unparalleled and I was blown away by her ability to take one little taste of the students' cocktails and immediately come up with exactly what was needed to make it shine. I definitely recommend her classes to anyone who enjoys cocktails and wants to learn both the art and science behind them. read more

The class was amazing! Devin truly is living into her passion and it spreads to all.

Where to even begin! If you're looking for something special, unique and memorable, look no further - Devin's mixology class is all of the above and more! Devin made us feel welcome immediately upon entering her (gorgeous!) condo. We were lucky enough to have great weather so the class took place on her private rooftop with an absolutely stunning view of the Chicago skyline. Watching the sunset while making cocktails is a tough combo to beat. You will undoubtedly learn a lot about mixing cocktails and walk away with a new appreciation for the art of mixology. Devin's energy, passion and enthusiasm for her craft will no doubt leave you feeling inspired and creative (and likely a little bit tipsy ;) ). I've been excited to recommend this class to everyone I know - can't wait to come back! read more

My wife and I attended Devin Kidner's Mixology 101 class on 4/12/2019 at Declan's Irish Pub. The tickets were a gift from a friend and we went in not really knowing what to expect. Even over a relatively short two hours, it was clear that Devin really knows her stuff - the fact that she won the first mixology competition she entered as an amateur speaks to her abilities. The class was hands on, and while I consider myself a moderately experienced drinker, I am definitely an inexperienced bartender / mixologist. The point of the class was to experiment with mixers, bitters, muddle-ables and tinctures you may not find regularly in a bar, and, well, let's just say my "original" creations didn't turn out so hot. Devin tastes the students' offerings and makes suggestions, and while one of my cocktails was a lost cause, she was able to turn the other two into something palatable. My wife had better luck, and clearly won the night between the two of us. At the end of the night Devin offers small apothecary bottles of the home-made bitters and tinctures used for sale, and we ended up buying four of them (at $10 each) to play with at home. If you're looking to step up your mixology game, the Hollow Leg gets my endorsement. read more

Devin is the best!! Learned so much and made awesome cocktails

I took a public mixology class from HOLLOW LEG and it was fun and educational - Devin really knows her stuff. She was also super funny and had a BIG personality, so everyone was laughing from the get-go. This is NOT your normal cocktail class (thankfully!): She teaches a lot about the science of mixology and how we perceive taste, and even though I consider myself a cocktail buff, it was a lot of things I had never heard of before. We made three cocktails in class that were customized to each person's palate, and I was super proud that each of my cocktails was better than the last. The class had a lot of couples and groups of friends, and she even hosts bachelorette parties and bachelor parties, as well as corporate and private events. If you're looking for an amazing time and want to learn something, I can't recommend this cocktail class enough! read more

Devin's mixology class was truly incredible! We were able to do an in-person class and had an absolute blast - I loved getting to learn the science behind how certain ingredients can come together to create a well balanced drink with the right kick. I was able to concoct my own customized drinks outside of my usual comfort zone and Devin helped me make them even better after each round. Devin is so personable and fun and I cannot recommend her class enough - it would be great for a date night, bachelorette party, roommate bonding, and more. Take a class - you will love it!! read more

We purchased tickets to the Saturday mixology class as a birthday gift and the class was amazing! The instructors were incredibly energetic and extremely passionate about mixology and the science behind it. The class was two hours long which allowed us to make three different cocktails and the instructors helped us tailor them to our taste buds! Our first try's were very safe but it round two we were encouraged to use multiple flavor profiles, mixers, and bitters to get an interesting cocktail that had depth. We ended up with one great cocktail and one terrible but we brought the bad one to Devon and she immediately walked us through the science of why the cocktail was too bitter and sour and was able to brighten the flavor and bring it back to a beautiful and enjoyable level! Overall WE LOVED THIS CLASS! Couldn't recommend a more free flowing class that gives you the basics and background to mixology. It's far from basic and boring so we will definitely be back! read more
