The clothes are really nice, don't get me wrong, and it's pretty affordable (compared to A&F anyway) but it's definitely not perfect!
a) It's wayyyyyy too dark (to the extent it's just annoying.) It makes you wonder why they keep it dark, is it to hide the fact the clothes and shop assistants aren't quite as 'beautiful' as they seem?
b) It's wayyyyy too smelly (they spray it with their fragrances and they smell nicebut there's just SO much, it's actually ridiculous and gave me a headache!)
c) I just find the whole thing quite fake and irritating. Hollister and A&F both seem to have really narrow-minded opinions of beauty. Judging by the people who work there, in my opinion, they seem to be trying to say anyone who doesn't have blonde hair and blue eyes isn't beautiful. I'd like to see more ethnic minorities working in there.
d) I don't like the way they try and sell their clothes. Its like they are trying to say you aren't just buying a pair of shorts or a bikini, you're buying into the whole glamourous 'Malibu' lifestyle - when you're not. You're still in a rundown London suburb. Haha.
Well, that's my stab at the shop - and mainly because the other reviews are so positive, I just wanted to shed a bit of light on perhaps the problems with such a great store! read more
