Companion Animal Medical Centre - Dr. Steffen and staff take excellent care of Princess Lia!

Donna T. accidentally attributed it to the WRONG Vet practice!) Medical center incorrect 1 star review. So, I feel the need to write about a VERY recent experience that I had with Dr. Steffen and our 9year old Basset hound, Lily. About 2 weeks ago I got a phone call from my husband that Lily wasn't acting "right". Now, mind you,I was out of state and had been for over a month! He said she was barely moving around and not eating much. I freaked out and said "well, how long has this been going on (1 day) and did you take her to the vet (no)?" Mind you he called to tell me all of this on his lunch break and I went into a full PANIC. So, I IMMEDIATELY called Dr. Steffen's office told them what was happening and even though they were SWAMPED that day, they got Lily in to be seen WITHIN AN HOUR! Ten minutes after she was seen Dr. Steffen PERSONALLY called me LONG DISTANCE, to let me know what was going on with Lily. Turns out her arthritis was acting up and she was probably suffering from some separation anxiety! Lily had performed an agility course exam with very little problem, her heart, lungs, stomach, etc.were all fine as well! In fact we both agreed that Lily kinda pulled a "Kim Kardashian" as she is quite the diva , lol ! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steffen and her staff. They are ALL highly compassionate, professional and personal in their care of your furbabies. I completely trust them with the care of my "pets" and I highly recommend them for others as well!

I had a very troubling experience with Dr. Gwendolyn Steffen and her clinic, and I want to share my…read morestory to help others make an informed decision. This was my first experience with a veterinarian, as Reese is my first dog, and it has been nothing short of disappointing. The issues began on around October 2023, when I arrived to drop off a fecal matter sample for Reese at the time Dr. Steffen had instructed. Despite it being business hours, she wasn't there. Just as I was leaving - she arrived, she made an offhand comment, "Of course, someone showed up as soon as I left." After a lengthy conversation about music, she mentioned that the computer system was down and told me not to worry about the fees. However, when I tried to schedule another appointment later, I was informed that I had an outstanding balance with late fees and interest, which I had never been told about. Despite updating my address multiple times, I never received a bill. Things took a turn for the worse during my visit on October 23, 2024. I brought Reese in for a sick exam, and Dr. Steffen recommended sedating her, which I agreed to. The appointment was at 11:15 AM, but Reese wasn't seen until just before 1:00 PM, leaving me waiting for over two hours without any updates. After the sedation, I was hit with a significant bill for services I never authorized, including laser and ozone treatments. When I voiced my concerns, Dr. Steffen was dismissive. It was especially alarming to see Reese leave the clinic in worse condition than when we arrived--she was walking on her back legs in a strange manner and had her tail tucked between her legs. The billing issues were compounded by Dr. Steffen's refusal to correct inaccuracies in Reese's medical records. She falsely documented that I had requested pain management for Reese, which I never did, and added condescending comments about me being a "financial loss" to the clinic, even suggesting I was seeking free services. This was simply untrue, as I have always paid for any services rendered. When I asked for these inaccuracies to be corrected, she refused. Throughout my time dealing with this clinic, I also experienced multiple instances of microaggressions and blatant racism. The most egregious was when Dr. Steffen asked me if I had been assaulted in the face because of the size of my lips--a deeply inappropriate and offensive comment. Additionally, when she prescribed pain medication for Reese, she repeatedly emphasized that it was "canine pain medicine." I don't understand why this would even need to be clarified at a vet's office; it felt like another condescending assumption about my knowledge. Additionally, Dr. Steffen frequently brought up her Black boyfriend in conversations, which came across as performative rather than relevant to Reese's care. On top of these concerns, I overheard staff talking negatively about Reese when they thought I couldn't hear. It contributed to an overall atmosphere of unprofessionalism and disrespect. Dr. Steffen would often mention that all of my calls were recorded whenever an issue arose, but when there was a dispute about something she said, she never referenced these recordings when it turned out she was incorrect. To address these issues formally, I have submitted a complaint to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. I strongly urge anyone considering this clinic to read all the one-star reviews on Google carefully--they are consistent with my experience and paint a concerning picture. This clinic's practices fall far short of the standard of care that pet owners deserve. I hope sharing my experience helps others avoid the same issues I encountered.

Make sure you have the correct address and hours of operation before going. Dr Germaine has been our vet for 4 yrs, after our overweight dog had continued unresolved health problems in spite of traditional vet care. Dr Germaine uses a variety of integrative/holistic approaches to uncover the cause of problems instead of simply treating symptoms! first we paused Sophie's swim therapy at another facility, bc she needed to first heal left shoulder/neck injury and back right leg area by staying Immobile. Dr Germaine also advised us on dietary practices for Safe weight loss! At one point we prepared her food ourselves. We have changed her diet occasionally as needed bc of long term kidney and pancreatitis issues. She now goes monthly for Magna-wave and acupuncture treatments. She also gets her blood tested 2-3x/yr. Takes vit D drops which are inexpensive. A deficency can contribute to major problems Like cancer! Sophie She would not be alive today if not for Dr Germaine. Her swim therapy assistant, who is also a vet tech, is amazed at Sophie's progress and has referred people to Dr Germaine. My husband is a combat vet and very attached to Sophie, and wants her to live a long life if possible, and have a good quality of life. IMHO it's much better to catch things proactively than to try to address multiple life threatening issues, when possible

I came to Louisville back in March, and was nervous about finding the right person to help me care for my senior baby, whose health had been declining over the last 6-12 months. After consulting Yelp recommendations on local in-home veterinary care, I instantly connected with the energy of Heart's Ease. Both Dr. Bennett and her office manager Cori are kind, compassionate, patient and detail-oriented. From the first email, I felt like I mattered, and that it was their mission to ensure my girl got the best, most appropriate care possible. Even in those moments when I was scared, resistant or in deep denial, they were there to listen, guide and support me. I feel extremely lucky and grateful that Missy's last days were spent in the care of these loving beings. They made her transition as peaceful and painless as possible, and I honestly feel like it was divine intervention that I had the intuition to bring our family here so that Missy could have this end-of-life experience, as I'm not sure if we would have had the luxury of this level of care back home. If you're looking for in-home care for your loved one, I can recommend Heart's Ease with my whole heart.

Someone that cares about their own pet and is responsible, would already have this type of information readily available for such instances. 24 hr MedVet Address: 2714 Springboro West Rd, Moraine, OH 45439 Phone: +1 937 293 2714 - emergency vet is 24 hrs and takes walk-ins. B/c of my minimal contact with this location so far, I probably would have given 3 or 4 stars - but I'm giving 5 to make up for the previously mentioned irresponsible reviewer! That's like giving a pizza place 1 star b/c they don't serve hamburgers. Absolutely ridiculous.
