This seemed like the most affordable place, 39 quid for full legs and bikini line. They mentioned a makeup artist in the salon that day so I could look at some make up after my appointment which I was ok to do. Cut to the actual appointment, the lady who was considered a professional didn't seem to know how to wax as she kept stating that she was making errors. She made me feel very uncomfortable as she was talking about dead chickens and the process of plucking them, I felt she was very cold and unfriendly. She continued to make me feel uncomfortable as I mentioned I was getting ready for my partner to come down where she stated that she doesn't feel comfortable waxing someone who is doing it for someone else's pleasure....? Right. Once my appointment was over, I was greeted by this makeup artist who then asked to me take a seat whilst as she started to take my makeup off. I stated that I was happy to just look at the make up but she said it will just be quick, so I continued...come the end where she had put makeup on me, added up the cost of everything on my face and began to haggle me. I'm not a very confrontational person and I didn't feel comfortable to tell her I didn't want anything. So I explained the situation to the lady at the desk instead, where she had told me prices, damn. I went to pay for my scheduled treatment and it was now like 20 quid more??? I asked what for and they said that I had extra wax treatment...which I did not. She then told me that I should have come in on a student discount day...which I had no knowledge of after going through with until the appointment had ended. I felt extremely judged as the whole time all the staff where watching me. I would never go back here purely because of the unprofessionalism and the fact I felt completely taken advantage of.

I need to rave about John and Alleviate - so much that I'm writing this first review. In fact, the…read moreonly reason i even feel comfortable writing this and shouting to the world about John's service is because I've just signed up for a year membership of going to visit him once a month for a massage. Don't get me wrong - I'm not rolling in the dough, nor have I ever been one to go to any sort of monthly beauty/spa/massage therapy treatment. Of course when I'm off visiting various places and a spa is an option, I'll jump on board - but this, this is different. As someone currently working a desk job, who has only recently left job that I worked two years constantly standing - I've had various aches and pains. I try and run a good 2 miles a few times a week and I've been going to bikram yoga consistently over the last few months or so - that being said, I've always had back pain. John was actually recommended to me by a yoga teacher at SoHot Yoga in Soho (Karen - amazing!) when I asked her what was causing my hips to never seem to be in line. On top of that I'm someone that constantly needs to move my body and back around just to get rid of various aches in shoulders/neck/back. Until John. Before my treatment (which was actually off of one of his various offered deals), we had a sit down to discuss my history and where I would like the massage to focus. I tend to be a bit shy in massages - hardly ever speaking up - and never getting the right amount of pressure applied to my back, especially. But this actually felt like a partnership in getting me the best possible outcome. We agreed that given all the annoyance it gives me, he would spend the whole hour just focused on my back, neck and shoulders. This was absolutely the best massage of my life - I could literally feel the tension escaping my body - and now, a week later, my back feels 1000x better than it has in years. For me, this isn't a monthly relaxing spa date to put on my calendar but assured relief from day to day built up tensions and stress that we all put our bodies under doing various activities. Highly recommended!

The verb "to be Stan-ed" is well established in Bath and the world of sport! Or is that just in my world and that of my friends that I've referred over the years?! I think I've been being Stan-ed for the last 3 or 4 years, and I'm so happy he's still operating near Bath! Anyway, don't take my word for it, try it for yourself, you won't regret it.
