What a tramp hole!…read more We stayed in one of their 'chalets' which is an upgrade from a caravan and I dread to think what the caravans were like. When we got their we had to go straight out and buy cleaning products because it was so distgusting we couldn't shower or use the loo. We had to wash everything in the kitchen before we used it. then when we left they had the bloody cheek to charge us money because we'd 'left some pans dirty'. Which is a lie! they just couldn't cope with giving the whole deposit back to someone. £15 for dirty pans that weren't really dirty! On the plus side the only other campsite that accepts groups of young people are Smugglers haven next door - and they are really expensive!

I don't want to ramble on about how good/nice it is but it has 2 bedrooms, 1 double/1 twin, a bathroom with shower/bath/toilet/sink, a separate toilet with sink. A fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) but washing machine. Lounge/dinning area, with tv,video,DVD player, radio & cd player. Above all it's on a small complex, which is totally silent, occasional helicopters to RNAS Culdrose. A perfect place to see perfect sunsets & view the night sky with little or no ambient light. You are no further than 2/3 miles from little coves with beaches or the coastal route around the lizard. If you are looking for that perfect place then this is it, even two teenagers liked it so can't be bad. This is 100% value for money, I will certainly be returning & would highly recommend it. I had emailed them several times prior to making the booking to confirm dates because it was for a special occasion. I would avoid this money grabbing company because they don't bother to check with the owners before taking bookings and taking your money.

We arrived rather late at night due to getting a bit lost and stuck in bad weather on the drive from London, but Rosie was so understanding and even greeted us with a hug and a "Happy New Year!" She and John were both lovely hosts throughout our visit and we really enjoyed talking with them. The location is wonderful and makes you feel like you've been transported back to an old movie in the English countryside - we spent all of New Year's Day morning walking around the grounds and visiting the horses and the beautiful old church on site. Breakfast was excellent, we loved the family suite (and excellent value for two bedrooms and a large private sitting room), and especially appreciated the tip from John upon check-out about taking the train to St. Ives instead of driving - we followed his advice and had a great afternoon there! Heartily recommend and hope to visit again next time we're in Cornwall!

The experience starts when you walk in and are greeted by the exceedingly fabulous staff (all of them from the check in crew to bartender, wait staff, cleaning staff etc. are ridiculously good) who start taking care of you the moment you step foot through the doors to when you leave. Case in point : we got there sooner than the check in time so had to wait for the room to be readied. We were seated in the guest area which by the way is just the perfect decor to complement the fabulous view of Carbis Bay and offered tea. In the conversation we happened to mention that the spousal unit was vegan...and magically all the hotel staff, even people we had not seen seemed to know about it and importantly remember it when we ordered any food or snacks and made attempts to make sure she had something vegan to consume. The room was spare yet well appointed and lacking for nothing and had a great view of the garden. Morning breakfast is sumptuous with fresh fruit, a killer home made granola, hot breakfast made to order, juices, coffee and tea. Impeccable service is the motto and when your day starts like this, how can it even dare to get bad? The classic English breakfast takes the interpretation of perfectly poached eggs, beautiful toast, charred baby tomatoes on the vine, a grilled portobello, a bit of grilled goat cheese. Of course with the crazy good service, someone had bothered to go and get vegan sausage for my wife which had her swooning. Dinner one night had them making Moroccan veggies for the wife and I had a carpaccio appetizer with a fish for dinner. Everything was perfectly cooked, served and consumed! The entire stay in these altogether pleasant surroundings, with friendly and attentive service capped a perfect holiday. If we win the lotto...we are taking up semi permanent residence there!

Why does no one seem to realise this? There is a great communal lounge area and a bar/restaurant which is nice if a little overpriced. The breakfast served in the morning is great too. It doubles as a campsite and the grounds were quite lovely as it was the summer. However, one criticism would be that it isn't quite as central as you'd like. I'm also not to sure about the price. I was on a stag do and paid £50 for one night...I assume that this included some other costs as for a hostel in Penzance that would be pretty extortionate.

Have heard that it gets very, very busy and full of caravans in the busy season which may not be yours (or our) cup of tea but well worth a visit off-season if you can cope with the lower temperatures! Also have a heated pool (open in the summer) and a pub/restaurant and shop.
