They have a great fruit selection at good prices. Usually whatever is in season, they'll have. The seasonal fruit is usually outside. Inside is your basic but good selection of vegetables and basic stuff like snacks, cereals, drinks, etc. I want to say they are family owned and the family takes turns behind the counter. They are all very nice and helpful in case you need help. They take credit cards as well.

Got 8 lemons for $1 (sometimes it's 3 for $1) Their produce always lasts longer than the bigger supermarkets I go to. Friendly staff and workers! They even have lots of "ethnic" items that are not available at other supermarkets in this area. The staff and cashiers here are friendly, knowledgeable and I always leave here with a smile on my face. Compare Foods also closes pretty late. I had to run here at 10:20pm one night because I had an "emergency" and didn't have enough eggs for something I was making the next day (lol) and there they were, open and happy to help. This is most definitely my favorite supermarket in the area :).

Their soymilk is also cheaper than JH natural foods on 37th and their soy cream cheese, etc. The produce is also good and they always have a cart of just-past-its-prime produce for $1.00 that is always just fine. besides that it is a pretty typical jackson heights grocery store - every brand of malta & every flavor of jarritos, frozen mamas empanadas & an entire goya aisle. they close at 11:30pm

They make 2 different kinds of soup daily, (chicken & tripe soup or whatever) 3 plates of different food (ox tail, steak, pork cops stewed/fried) which are always delicious. I have lived on 14th street for 50 years now & he is located right across the street & they even deliver in the mornings. They stock bathroom stuff, macaroni, sauces, candy, cigarettes, toothpaste etc.. This company is certified "For The People" when it comes to doing the right thing. A few years ago a bunch of morons went in there & thought it was going to an easy place to knock off. It was all caught on video, but I cannot find it anymore, I can only find the article that was written up. Two (2) guys walked in & announced "THIS IS A ROBBERY", then proceeded to put two (2) customers on the floor & told them not to move. The guy with the gun walked up to the guy behind the counter (Danny / no longer works there) & put a gun to his head. Danny didn't like the idea & pushed the gun to the side away from his face. The robber wasn't too smart because he did it again. This time Danny grabbed the gun & started to fight with him. He hit Danny in the face & his accomplice broke a bottle over Danny's face & then it was a few for all. All the customers both standing & laying down started to pound the gunman & they took away his gun but not before he could fire it into the wall during the struggle. All in all, given their size they really do carry the essentials that you might need at reasonable prices. I think they're a great neighborhood grocery and people should know about them so here we are. I was having some family members over for dinner in honor of my cousin's last day in the city and I needed olive oil, italian bread, and stuffing. This place had all three plus I noticed they carried Boar's head deli meat, different types of soups and cereals, dinner meats like chicken and pork chops, and cleaning supplies plus *some* fresh produce. If you live in the area this should be your go-to place if you need a little something to make yourself dinner and can't be bothered to go out to the main drag by Broadway. Give the place a tray! It worked really well for my needs.

The deli section has low sodium Swiss cheese and smoked turkey which means that a pound of each is going in my filled shopping cart .No waiting on line to checkout and prices are reasonable overall .4.5 stars on my yelp meter and the Carvel ice cream cake for 15 dollars disappeared faster then a speeding bullet.

Waking to my vision center I stopped abruptly to re-read a peculiar sign advertising Bagels, Pizza & Sushi, all under one roof. The temptation was there to have a closer look at this odd trifecta, but it was not to be on this day. Today I walked into Nagilah Market to stroll the aisles and see what was offered behind the large glass paynes of the stores front which looked like a hybrid of Odd Lot meets Wholesale Liquidators with the window dressing of someone on a bit too much peyote. The inside of the store was disheveled and if you could make out any methodology of rows, your wiser than mouse than I as it felt like some experimental maze for humans. Items everywhere, pricing labels were few and far between and no logic to placement of anything. But after getting my bearings I began to fill my basket with many extraordinarily well priced Middle Eastern products. Cans of sardines, grape leaves, teas, spices, oils and more. Upon check out I was asked by the man behind the counter what were my intentions with a particular spice I selected. The other four men who were at the counter, seemingly all buddy buddy with the owner stopped talking to listen to my response. "Purely experimental" I stated as was the case. "Oh" he stated, "I thought you were a chef". Whatever the answer, he proceeded to take the plastic container from me, walk to a large area of loose spices and grounded me up a fresh batch. How cool is that? A full basket of cooking goodies ran me a Jackson and I once again have the coolest contents in my fridge of all my cooking buddies, for now.
