Darling vintage spot to stop for breakfast, coffee, or lunch on the North Shore near Lutsen!…read more You'll feel like you're in a true gem on the North Shore. They have coffee mugs of locals hung on the walls, vintage photos and news clippings, and incredible northern decor. We came in on a Monday afternoon in fall and ordered: - biscuits and gravy: my husband LOVED this - omelette with hash browns: delicious and crispy I expected bigger portions for the price, so was a bit disappointed in that as we were ready for a filling hearty brunch! The service was funny - our server must have been bored and really wanted to chat us up, which we didn't mind. I'd love to see this place more busy and more folks to know about it! We were the only ones in at that time. They also sell some convenience store items like OTC meds, non perishables, dry goods, etc. They also carry some local products and tourist goods. Come for the ambiance and coffee!

This entire experience was a waste of our time and money. Arrived for breakfast and began looking…read moreat the menu while an employee ignored us. Right around the time we were considering leaving, the owner walked by and told us we had to stand in a line against a wall in order to be seated for breakfast. (Other than her directions, nothing indicated us to do so) After sitting down and receiving our water and coffee (coffee that was nearly $5 and never refilled) we ordered our food. Pancakes and a breakfast burrito, each around $16. When the food arrived we received what appeared to be a tiny gas station burrito and four smaller pancakes with a little tub of lukewarm syrup. We both left hungry. I understand food and material goods can cost more in less populous places, but either portions should have been larger, or the price should be lower. Prices might be more reasonable for lunch, but for breakfast I highly suggest you go somewhere else! We had just gotten breakfast in Two Harbors the day before at Ruby's Cafe and ordered similar items. Coffee was better and refilled more often. The prices were lower and the portions were much larger, filling the entire plate and our stomachs. As someone who has driven across the US, this is one of very few local restaurants that I regret spending any money at.

Cute, little grocery store in Finland, MN. It has everything you need from meats, cheeses, milk,…read moreproduce, dried goods, kerosene lanterns, hats, mittens, you name it. It's off the beaten trail and the north shore but the local people are friendly and the store is well stocked. There is gas at the location as well. Some items are a bit more expensive than you may be used to, but you won't be disappointed. I recommend visiting this establishment.

The only down sides are the cramped aisles and small variety -- they have a lot of products, but not many different brands, as fits their patrons' needs. The staff are friendly and helpful, though, so I strongly encourage a stop. If you are in the area, I recommend buying a Superior Forest map at the co-op. They cost around $10 (I got a waterproof one), but they will show the trails and dirt roads that will help you figure out where things are. On-line maps are not reliable at placing things in this part of Minnesota; for example, this co-op is actually a mile or two south of the bridge over the Baptism river.
