This is a nice little general store. They have a little bit of everything, including DVD rentals for local vacation rentals and hotels. A rarity these days. They have some fresh produce. Groceries. Fishing bait and tackle. Unfortunately, the day I want the coffee machine was not functioning. And the coffee shop next-door was not open mid week. It's a gas station too. Located right next to the post office in Lutsen. There's not much else around. They have some cold sandwiches that you can heat up in a microwave, but no grab and go hot food. No fresh pastries, or donuts, everything is premade and packaged. A decent store with some nice variety. read more

Great collection of things you need and gifts you want. From local sourced makers to standard products it is hard to leave. They have dvd rental and fishing gear too. Dog toys? Yes. read more

I really like this store on HWY 61, shares a parking lot with a post office, coffee shop and gas station. Very clean, organized, wide variety of products (food), there is fresh and frozen food. A good sized gift shop. Bait shop. Movies. Clean restrooms. Good place to buy gifts or souvenirs! read more

Prices are extremely high. Even the outdated products are higher then if u buy new in the cities . I rarely buy anything there only cuz there close by n I'm in a hurry to make something. read more

Totally charming northern MN general store. They had a pretty large variety of food options considering we are used to "big city" groceries. Employee was very helpful and kind and knowledgeable about the whole area. Lutsen maple syrup was delicious! Nothing we got was remotely close to out of date. We didn't check out the bait shop in the back very carefully but it looked extensive. Coffee shop, gift shop and sewing shop in same building. read more

This store is amazing! It literally has everything you could possibly need for a great weekend up north. We walked in to browse and even went back to buy souvenirs. They have a coffee place next door and the general store sells their coffee to brew at home. The store had a pet section with toys, leashes, food, snacks, you name it! There was a nice section with fresh produce and also a large area with avocados, garlic, other produce and gourmet jams. Did you forget anything for the kids? There was a children's section with games and books and clothing. Also, a large area with adult clothing, caps, games, books, and greeting cards. I bought a beautiful, locally made cheese cutting board for a friend. There was an automotive area, an area where you could rent DVD movies, a large area with all the fishing supplies you could imagine, and also bear spray. They even had a kitchen wares wall with all kinds of kitchen gadgets. And, of course their grocery selection was amazing. I've been to plenty of lake area country stores, but have never seen the variety. You're lucky if you can find BBQ sauce at the average lake store, but this store had 4 different varieties of BBQ sauce, to give an example. I will definitely go to this store any time I'm in the area. read more

Love this little general store outside the resort. Great selection of gifts, groceries, and other essentials. Bakery items are good - muffins, pies, and desserts. Impressive selection of items and prices are fair. read more

A nice little spot to find the essentials and some extras! We were able to plan a whole meal with supplies from here. Eggs, meat, cheese and even some fruits and vegetables! They also carry some clothing and fishing supplies! read more

Established in 2014.

A historic staple to Lutsen created in 1928, one of only two convenience stores/gas stations in the township.

Meet the Business Owner: Chris H.

We are a family owned business. My wife Flavia and I, along with my partners purchased the business in July of 2020. We have been long time customers of the store. When the previous store owner put the business up for sale we saw an excellent opportunity to be a part of the business community/community at large. We are excited to be a part of the community here in Lutsen. Our goal is to continue with great customer service, continually bring in new and excited products as well as ones that are requested, and to have a little bit of everything that you may need.

Despite the apparent size from the building exterior, they offer a myriad of options and everything you might want for an expedition into the wilderness... though not as many options as a larger store probably. Also a couple of nice gift options for those left at home. Staff were very helpful, and I wouldn't hesitate to come here again to stock up on last-minute supplies or to browse for that item I didn't know I needed. Prices were a big higher than you'd find online or in a mega-store, but nobody should be surprised or outraged by that, considering where you are.

Nonetheless, I found what I needed quickly, thought the price was reasonable, and was pleased both as I left, and subsequently when I put them to use. What did I buy? Knee high rubber boots. Our Moose Track Adventures canoe trip guide had a pair on that I admired, and since I needed a pair for an upcoming trip to the Peruvian Amazon, that was good enough for me. At the end of the Amazon trip, we were asked whether we wished to donate the boots. We went in to exchange it and they could have not been more accommodating. She did not have the receipt and had removed the tags. They knew it was their product and were happy to make the swap for a larger size. As she made the swap, I browsed through the store with my other cousin. Oh my, the variety of merchandise was mind blowing. They had everything you'd need for a camping trip. They even sell camping packages for the boundary waters and when you check-in on Yelp they offer a 15% off coupon. If you're a fisher, they also offer live bait to help you catch that big fish. That way your "big fish" story will be truth instead of a made up one. My other cousin who was traveling with us, caught so much fish during our trip, that when we left Ely, we had to stop at Spirit to buy dry ice. When in Ely, I highly recommend that you shop, Spirit.

I would have been thrilled if you could get all 3 bottles for a discount, but that wasn't happening. They have a ton of t shirts for sale here. We picked up one for Ely, MN for about $25. They have a men's side and a women's side. The women's side had a ton of apparel. I found a cute shirt and shorts on sale. The fitting room is right there by the stairwell. I love a good sale. These times were not for Ely, they were just hiking/camping brands of clothing, but that's ok. A lot of the women's stuff was fairly plain. The back of the store has restrooms, art, and camping/fishing supplies. The front of the store has weapons and shoes. In fact, the gal who makes the moccasins was right there in the store, putting them together in real time! It was so cool to see how she was manipulating the leather. We did not take the stairs up to the second level; it appeared to be more of a bookstore up there. Parking is on the street.

I do enjoy ciders, so I didn't hesitate much before choosing this option. The tasting is also very reasonably priced at $8. For their tasting, they usually have 4 pre-selected choices and one that they choose for that time. I enjoyed all of the options. Some did have more of a unique taste considering it was made from a certain type of minnesotan apple. But it was great to try. I really also love the ambience. They have ample seating inside and outside. They sell meats/cheese and offer supplies so you can make your own charcuterie board, which was cool. It was a very chill atmosphere where you can sit, wine down and talk with friends/company. It's a nice way to relax and kill time.
