Evelyn is truly incredibly well versed in all phases of massage. She teaches at the college and I surely can envision her educating others in her techniques. I thought I had purchased a Swedish massage which I have had before, this was not that. I received what I considered a medical massage. I wanted to relax instead I was stretched like a pretzel. While this was still good it was not what I came for. I get this every Tuesday at my chiropractor's office. Here I came to be relaxed. I can agree with the other reviews light was not dimmed and clock was ticking throughout. The masseuse gave me homework after the massage who wants that. And as with my Tuesday massages That stretch me out I am in a bit of pain this evening. I do not think I will return to this establishment.

After purchasing a $39 Groupon, I went to Manual on Myo for a Signature Massage. After filling out…read morea short form, I was led to a "room" where my massage would take place. I use the word room in quotations because it was created with curtain dividers. In addition, there was a long mirror against the wall, almost like one you would see in a dance studio. This also, made me a little uneasy. Now, because the rooms are separated only by curtains, you can hear discussions at the front desk and in other massage rooms which can be a little disruptive. Aside from this, the massage itself was fantastic! My massage therapist used Swedish massage techniques and included hot stones and a hot pack. The massage was so good, I purchased a package of 10 massages. I do recommend this place if you can turn a blind eye to the other stuff...

I was able to purchase an Amazon Local for a one-hour massage from this provider. When I called to…read moreschedule, I was told that I would have to pay an additional "$8 transaction fee." I asked what transaction they were talking about, and how it added to $8; the person on the phone was unable to answer. She just said "Our boss told us to say that." I stated that I was reading the entire Amazon Local ad; there was NO MENTION of such a fee. The person on the phone insisted that I would have to pay it. I canceled the massage and made a formal complaint to Amazon Local, where a customer service agent agreed that she had never heard of such a thing and that they would be launching an investigation. I guess they've made a few extra bucks this way from people who don't know any better, but one has to wonder; is it worth the negative review or the investigation?

It is…read morenot fancy, and sometimes the customers coming in going out can get loud because there is not much space between the front waiting area and the section where the foot massages take place. Nonetheless, it is a soothing and low-key place, and the staff is always pleasant and sweet. Owen is probably the best masseuse on staff, but Ava and Grace are also good. For customers who haven't been here before: please consider tipping generously. These people put time and actual physical effort into giving you a great massage. I always tip at least 25% (so for a $50 massage, $12-$14 is my bare minimum) and I give actually way more than that ($20) gladly. Think about what they have to do... wash and rub strangers' smelly feet... yuck.

I have been going to Smart Spa/ Ms. Elaine for a yr now. I learned of her services (through…read moreGroupon) at a time when I was making a conscious decision to intentionally support small businesses owned by Black women and when I realized she was Jamaican I felt even more implored. The space is shared with a salon but that isn't problematic as she has her own private area and once the door closes, there is no noise from the salon. You might hear footsteps from the apt above but that wasn't an issue for me since I've never gone for massages, only facials and waxing. Here's what works really well: the prices area great. Even if you went in on a Groupon, which I did...I had purchased a package of 3 Brazilians, even after that expires she will honor the same rate moving forward . She's great with Brazilian waxes and will make sure she get every single hair( painful as the process might be). She's a little heavy handed but thorough. She's also great with facials. I've done several different types and I was mostly always pleased with the outcome. The space is clean and proper sanitary conditions are maintained. Here's a couple things that I am suggesting: Ms. Elaine could benefit from having a proper voicemail set up for the business. You call her cellphone and sometimes the way she answers/ go about the appointments come off rather harsh. How customers are received is a huge part of a business and you can't afford to falter in that area. Next, not everyone speaks your dialect and while it's good to have because it makes you culturally relevant to some customers (myself included) I could see how others could be turned off. This is not judgement, it's critical feedback with good intentions to see your business do well and support your talent. P.S. customers are not allowed to park in the lot but there's plenty of parking of paid parking on the main and free parking on the side streets. In closing, I don't know a lot of black waxers /aestheticians who own and operate their own business so I support them when their business and craft is quality. Ms. Elaine has a good heart and she deserves to win so I will continue to support her as I encourage her to develop elements of her business.

Upon starting the massage, he asked if "I was the one who called before for an appointment" I said no - I just told you I was a walk in. He said that he would have to do only a 30-minute session for $50, I said fine since I was already on the table. What came next was a horrible, rushed massage on my back. When I flipped over, it was a horrible, painful, five minute massage before he said times up. I left with zero satisfaction and was actually more stressed out than when I came in. I would suggest steering clear of this place by all means.

I've been meaning to try Ami's (I believe it says "Amy's" on the outside sign) since it's right around the corner from my boyfriend's place. Situated in the Best Yet market plaza, it could be very easy to miss! My back and shoulders have been killing me for weeks, and I finally decided to give Ami's a go. The foot massage chairs up front were all fully occupied with people getting foot massages ($28 for an hour), complete with a guy snoring away. I was lead to one of the back rooms with a massage table. They pulled the curtain to give me some privacy to shed my clothes (there were handy hooks on the side to hang them up), and laid face down to enjoy my massage. The massage started with me under a thick towel, with pressure points being pressed through the towel. Then it progressed with oils and hot towels and even hot stones!! Amazing.
