So when I learned that they now offer 'pay your age' birthday specials, I wanted to be sure that we visited to celebrate his 1st birthday. Before we visited I called to be sure that everything was in working condition after we tried to visit another location and their stuffer was down. :( Lucky us, I was assured that all was well at the Arbor Place location. When we arrived at the mall, I loved that I knew we were in the right spot thanks to the little bears adorning the hallway wall. When we entered, there were about 3 other families inside and employees were busy helping everyone make their bears. We were quickly greeted by Tracey who was the sweetest person ever. She explained the process to us (since it's been over 2 decades since I had been there), and prepared a sticker for our little one as well as a birthday bear crown. She even sang him a little song!! He liked her a lot. :) After his birthday song, we went about stuffing the bear, adding his heart and we even recorded a sweet message for our little one. After his bear was stuffed, we went about looking for outfits. They do offer a $25 birthday pack which includes a recording, a birthday shirt + pants and something else I forgot. I decided against that as the birthday fit would date the bear and I wanted it to be something Julian could have forever. There were so many cute options and themes such as Girl Scouts, Harry Potter and Easter fits to celebrate the upcoming holiday. They had an adorable Hawks uniform and a Braves jersey, but no Atlanta United! My partner loves all sports, but played soccer so that was what we hoped for at first. We decided to go with the Braves jersey and it was absolutely adorable on his little bear. All in all, such a fantastic experience at this location thanks to the the Build-A-Bear team - especially Tracey! Thank you for making my son's 1st birthday bear experience wonderful.

I…read moreenjoyed the Atlanta Botanical Gardens' newest exhibit, Light in the Garden, so much more than the Christmas light display at the Gardens and found it even more impressive. Somehow the hype around this newest exhibit has been low, and as a result, it wasn't crowded at all on a Wednesday night when we arrived right at dusk. In fact, you could have walked right up and purchased tickets without even waiting in line. However, online/advance purchase tickets are available. While $20+/person is not exactly cheap for a stroll through a park, the lights are truly works of art, and it is is easily possible to spend several hours being mesmerized by the displays. There are tons of benches, chairs, and swings overlooking the lights or the impressive midtown skyline view, and there are several cash bars pouring wine and beer. They give you plenty of encouragement and opportunity to hang for a while. In fact, you'd be missing out if you didn't take your time to be still and ponder some of the larger installations, as they have intricacies, moving parts, and blinking orbs that you would miss if you didn't drop your pace below a slow stroll. My favorite installation of the six was definitely the "Forest of Light" which is located under the canopy walk and has more than 30,000 flower-like stems of light covering the forest floor. It's absolutely breathtaking. This special exhibition has me seriously contemplating a Garden membership. Don't miss this display!

By the time we went through the orchid house it was an hour or so later and getting dark. So, by the time we walked back to the start, it was dark enough to start getting the full effect. Stuck around until 9-10p to really see things full illuminated. There are plenty of drink stations for water or an adult cocktail. Bring comfy walking shoes!

I was excited for my first visit to Tomorrowworld this year but it was literally a miserable 6…read moremiles hike back to a field where thousands of people were waiting in hopes of one Uber car arriving. If I could give no stars I would, it was a waste of time and money. Tommorworld should really do something after such a terrible experience. After the concert ended at 1am, crowds of people stormed to leave the muddy event, the staff directed us to wait in a terribly long line to go to Kiss and Ride or take an Uber, we arrived to the front to find out we didn't even need to wait in that line. We had no idea where to go next other than walk 3 miles back to the taxi/uber drop off, which felt like more than 8 miles after enduring the festival. The only way out was offering to pay a random person a large sum of cash that parked at the festival to take us from the area after walking and waiting 3 1/2 hours. If we didn't think of getting a random car to drive us out, we probably still would have been waiting for an Uber car to arrive at 11am this morning. Good luck to anyone who is attending the concert today after braving Saturday's crazy fiasco. September 26, 2015 was my first and last time ever attending Tomorrowworld!

So I have gone two years in a row. The first two things I noted in year two was the following-…read more 1.) The growth of people video taping Go Pro. Maybe I just did not notice it the first year? It can be a little annoying to have people standing around with camera's on sticks around you. 2.) In this snapchat, Instagram era girls are slutting it out, more and more. Lots more REAL skimpy outfits in year two. No complaints here. The lineup of music in year two was simply not as good as year one. Kaskade to close, sure it was OK, but Armin the year before was WAY better. I mean at one point Kaskade just plays the summer anthem, no mixing, no remix....BORING..... The grounds were dusty this year. It had not really rained in Atlanta for 3 weeks, so it was like a rendition of Mad Max. Dusty. I suppose I can't really fault the Event people for this, but it was kind of a drag. Like many, I was listening to XM Radio's coverage of Ultra Japan on the long drive over to Chattahoochie Hills. It seems even that festivals line up might have been better then Tomorrow World. For inaugural year most people will agree the Pete Tong Stage on Saturday was for sure one of the highlights. For this year many people including myself enjoyed the more techno centric line up of the Richie Hawtin stage. In general I love that my city of Atlanta hosts the largest music festival in the US. That said, it is still a music festival in the US. Americans don't really dance. They stare at the DJ, use Go Pro, and pose for Instragram photos, as opposed to truly getting down like festivals in Europe or South America.

Unlike many food festivals where prices can feel inflated, I found plenty of delicious options at reasonable prices. I also loved the plenty of seating available, making it easy to relax, enjoy your food, and hang out with friends without having to search for a spot to sit. The atmosphere is fun, lively, and welcoming vendors, making it a great weekend outing for friends, couples, or families. If you're a foodie in Atlanta, this is definitely worth checking out. Come hungry--you'll want to try more than one thing!

For years, we've wanted to see The Sleepy Hollow Experience at Serenbe Playhouse, but haven't been…read moreable to make it out for one reason or another. One reason is because this show has been sold out for six seasons straight. You have to plan ahead. After finally attending The Sleepy Hollow Experience this past weekend, I can see why it consistently sells out. It's good! We bought our tickets a little over two months in advance. My friend purchased the tickets for us and got us a great deal that worked out to $31 per person after any taxes and fees. Tickets are regularly $50 per adult, $45 per student/senior, and $60 per VIP (not sure what that includes). In 2019, The Sleepy Hollow Experience is playing September 27th through November 3rd. Shows occur Wednesday through Sunday nights. There's a family-friendly daytime version that takes place at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The show is rated "PG" and includes "light sexual innuendo and a handful of scares." The scares are jump scares. Serenbe Playhouse is an outdoor, immersive theater. You walk around a big set, in nature, with the actors and even have opportunities to interact with them. The concept is neat and a lot of fun. It's different and can be a lot more interesting than your typical theater experience where you just sit and watch a performance play out on stage. At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, we watched most of the acts while standing. One act did have chairs and benches for sitting. Shows go on in the rain, so come prepared. Pay attention to the weather forecast and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring layers if needed. You'll be outside the entire time, standing on dirt, clay, grass, gravel, dead leaves, branches, etc. If conditions are wet, it can get muddy. For night shows, consider bringing a flashlight or using the light on your phone to help you get around. Restrooms consist of a row of porta-potties. Parking (free) changes for each production so be sure to follow the instructions on Serenbe Playhouse's website, specific to the show you're attending. http://www.serenbeplayhouse.com/plan-your-visit/directions-and-parking At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, there were two bars located on-site: (1) a smaller bar near the parking lot and porta-potties and (2) a larger bar near the production with lawn games like corn hole and ring toss. Like the rest of Serenbe Playhouse's structures, the bars have a natural, rustic look to them (sort of one with nature) and are nicely-decorated with string lighting. The larger bar has limited seating (e.g. picnic table). We purchased glasses of hot apple cider in Serenbe Playhouse clear souvenir tumblers ($10 each). We went to the Friday night late show at 10:30pm. It ended promptly, close to midnight, and included an intermission. During intermission, we could take pictures with the cast and even play corn hole with one of them. That was cool. In light traffic, it takes about 35-40 minutes to get to Serenbe Playhouse from Atlanta. I would allow 45 minutes to an hour if you are coming from the north side of Atlanta and even more if you're coming from the northern suburbs. You will have to drive onto bare, bumpy ground to park, so keep that in mind. Also, you will be out in a remote location so cell service may be spotty (in our experience, AT&T had better signal here than T-Mobile). As for the actual Sleepy Hollow Experience production itself, it was terrific. We all really enjoyed it. It was a high-quality production and by that I'm referring to the acting, costumes, music, sound, and lighting. These are true professionals and they know what they're doing. The actors not only acted well, but they played musical instruments (e.g. accordion, guitar, violin) and sang well too. This was a truly talented and entertaining group of individuals. The Sleepy Hollow Experience was expectedly eerie, but it had plenty of moments of levity and humor too. It was a lot of fun. We moved from place to place on the set with Serenbe Playhouse staff/volunteers to help guide, and sometimes scare, us. The ratio of actors to audience was 5 to about 90. The Headless Horseman exists and we saw him, multiple times, from far away and up close. It was awesome. Yes, they use a real horse and real fire. As this is an outdoor night show during the Halloween season, the entire setting is literally very dark. Only the stages and set pieces are professionally lit. The pathways and rest of the outdoor space are lit with torches and ambient/natural light. Through this production, my eyes have been opened to the greatness of Serenbe Playhouse. I wouldn't mind returning to see a different show in the future. TL;DR - Go see The Sleepy Hollow Experience at Serenbe Playhouse. It's an excellent production and a very fun experience. There's a reason why it's on American Theatre Magazine's list of "Top Five Halloween Plays in the Country" and is regularly sold out, year after year. No question, it's worth the drive from Atlanta.

We came for the Sleepy Hollow Experience with some friends and also (on a separate occasion in the…read moresame season) brought our toddler to see the Jungle Book. Both productions were phenomenal. The afternoon weekend performance of the Jungle Book we caught with the toddler was on an unfortunately hot day. The playhouse is outdoors, with outdoor, non-covered (read no shade) seating. We ended up sitting on a jacket we found in the back of the car on the floor in the sort of shade of a tree to get out of the sun. Even with the heat, the performance was great! The actors didn't let the heat bother them, and were at 100%. Our kiddo LOVED it and spent the rest of the day singing the songs. Be aware, you are pretty much parking on a dirt road next to some trees and there is some walking (non-paved trails) to get to the 'playhouse' itself. There is a small kiosk selling snacks, beer, and drinks. The evening performance of the Sleepy Hollow Experience was awesome. There is quite a bit of walking and the entire performance is outdoors, so dress appropriately. We were VERY lucky the evening of our performance was a perfect crisp bright fall night, with absolutely no rain. If there is rain before your show, the roads and floor would likely be pretty muddy. I was very very impressed with the acting and the LIVE horse (so well behaved!!). Again keep in mind you will be driving and walking on dirt/non-paved roads so prepare accordingly. Serenbe is a bit of a drive from Atlanta, but totally worth the experience. Also consider spending the weekend at the farmhouse, or getting an AirBnB etc in the area. The farm itself is adorable with LOTS to do.

I absolutely love this place and I will be back. Only downside tonight was the group in front of our group, we were told to all space out and if you catch up to another group hang back. Well we gave the group ahead of us a five minute head start and we still caught up to them, the staff had to break character multiple times to tell us to hang back but all the other groups had caught up to us too. The group In the very front should have been asked to go last after multiple staff members had to apologize to us for breaking character. Im not mad at the staff or camp blood, I love it there. But it just wasn't acceptable, we paid a lot of money and so did the groups behind us just to walk through and have conversations with the staff. I still appreciate how nice everyone was and it looked awesome but this time around it was just a walk through the woods and no scares. All in all I'm still leaving a 5/5 review because I love camp blood, I would just like to see if that continues to be a problem that the staff would kindly ask people who are ruining the fun for everyone to go last. What a AWESOME experience with Eat Right Atlanta…read more Before heading into a recent checkup at Emory, I saw the Eat Right Atlanta table setting up and wondered what they were offering. Once I finished my checkup and headed back downstairs, I was so excited to see two tables full of some beautifulllll produce. I had things to do and people to see... but that produce was calling my name. So I answered! I was a bit confused at first as to the process, but one of the team members took the time to explain the process quickly and it all made sense. They offer a long sheet of paper that allows you to choose produce in single-serving sizes, prepared packages and more. The offerings seem to vary based on the day, but the offering for the day included over two dozen options! I was tempted to go overboard but ended up going with: a single-serving size of bell peppers (which = 2 huge peppers), a single-serving size of mini cucumbers (5 in a bag) and a 5-variety fruit bag where I chose: peaches, cherries, kiwis, pink lady apples and barlett pears. In total I spent $32 with tax and WOW - did I get my moneys worth. The produce was plentiful, delicious and high-quality. I was so excited to get home to eat them and find different ways to use them. This is truly a wonderful pop-up to support and now that I know where and when to find them, you can bet that I'll be relying on them for my produce needs!
