Our family plus Grandpa recently stayed overnight here on a holiday weekend…read more Check in was efficient and pleasant. Room was as described in hotels.com app. 2 queen beds and one fold out sofa bed - plenty of bedding and pillows for the 5 of us. Smaller than average hotel tv. The washroom was nice and had bath and body works branded toiletries and a hair dryer. Pool was one of the warmest we were in all vacation and twirly slide was a bonus for the kids. Pool depth was 4-5'. Breakfast was okay - pancake machine, cereals, sausages, and bread products. Neither of my kiddos liked the sausages here. The pancake machine was the biggest hit (though could be improved with fruit and whipped cream options). Parking lot was small and upon returning at night I had to wait for security to let me into the hotel. Unfortunately there was lots of screaming and fighting on the street outside my window. Lethbridge recently opened up a safe drug injection site 2 blocks away and our friends (who live in Lethbridge) shared that there has been a lot of recent issues in the area with damaged vehicles, businesses, and violence. It would appear there are still some hiccups and adjustments to bd worked out. Upon driving for groceries and dinner it was apparent that the safe injection site was pulling a fair bit of foot traffic in the area. Overall the hotel was good and a fair value but I'd be inclined to choose a different hotel next time if our friends continue to hear of ongoing criminal activity and violence in the nearby vicinity.

Based on the reviews, I chose to give Best Western Plus a try -- and unfortunately, it was a big mistake. As soon as I walked in, there was an unpleasant smell. We were eventually greeted by the front desk and given our room. The first thing I always do when I enter any hotel room is lift the sheets and check the linens. Right away, I could see the bedding had not been changed. The sheets and pillowcases had human hair all over them. I immediately went to the front desk to report it. When the supervisor came, her initial excuse was that it was a pet-friendly room and the hair could have been from a dog. I explained that it was clearly human hair and even showed her the video I took. She acknowledged it and offered to move us to a different room, but at that point, I was completely disgusted. If housekeeping left this room in that condition, I had no confidence the other rooms would be any better. We requested a refund and went to the hotel across the street, which was much cleaner, updated, and had no issues at all. I definitely do not recommend staying here. But if you do, make sure you thoroughly check the linens before settling into the room.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling through the area, the continental breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I recommend using cash for your safety deposit based on my experience…read more When I was asked to pay the safety deposit, I used my physical card. After inserting the card into the terminal, the staff informed me that the terminal was not working and asked if she could process the card behind the counter. After checking out, I noticed some unexpected charges from the Uber app, despite not having used the service for several months. In fact, that was the only time I had used my physical card in weeks. Regarding the hotel itself, the rooms appeared dated; my partner humorously compared the shape of the old and worn mattresses to a 'Danish.' The bedding was consistently wrinkled, which left us with a poor impression. Additionally, there were no USB chargers in the room, and the pool was closed for maintenance on Sunday. Given these experiences, I will be staying away from this hotel in the future.

We were offered a different room, that had an even dirtier tub and sink. I asked if the room could be cleaned and no one was available. I had to go purchase cleaning supplies. Not once was I offered cleaning supplies or a discount for the fact that I had to clean part of my room and pay for my own supplies. When I reached out to management, they said if I come back the would make it up to us, but I never intend on going back to a hotel that's 6 hours from where I live and that I had to clean myself. I then asked for a refund, and I email has been ignored. I am completely unimpressed with this hotel and do not recommend it to anyone as how they handled the situation was ridiculous.

The floor in the rooms are filthy. I just bought new white socks. I had a shower/changed. By the end of the evening, my socks were black. My phone didn't work to call the front desk. I requested it to be fixed. (Never happened) The maid only shows up every 3 days to clean the rooms and make the bed. We put the "refresh room" card on the door. She never showed. Numerous times our room would be cleaned, but things would be forgotten. Coffee refreshed, towel not replaced. Etc. We even went a whole week without the bed being changed. Plus, we were constantly killing flies in the room! The location is another story. There is a strong homeless population in the front parking lot. Many times we would walk outside and find individuals that were obviously drunk/high wondering around the parking lot, passed out or loitering and begging for money. I even found one of them passed out in the hotel in front of the banquets area on the couch. I know she was homeless, because I talked to her earlier in the parking lot, and she told me. Additionally, the elevator constantly gets stuck on the second floor. This is a HORRIBLE place to stay. I would run from this hotel!!!! PS. Always check for bed bugs! Iron the corner of your bed, then pull the sheets up. It would not surprise me to find them here!

I trusted Sandman as a brand of nice hotels, this has changed my opinion of Sandman greatly. This location is rated as 3.5 stars, not sure how they got this rating as even two stars would be generous in my opinion. I would have saved money had I actually booked a two star hotel.

Overall the human interaction was very minimal and almost felt awkward. The property: the pool and hot tub had an obvious amount of dirt and debris along the corners and edges. Clearly had not been vacuumed in a long time. Took photos but could not post on here as they are not png format. Gym was small, but ok. Windows looking out to the pool, and outside looks onto gravel lot. Breakfast was ok. It is very much something to expect from a cheaper priced hotel, but considering we came from other Marriotts along our Southern Alberta trip, this one stood out in the wrong way. The eggs tasted like quite low grade, with just enough selection to have alternative food items. Expect the wifi to be on the slower side. We used the free one that came with bonvoy membership. There is a premium one that would be needed if you are doing any type of business calls. As a heads up, the tv remote did not work from laying in bed. Needed to be sitting on the edge of bed for it to register. We looked at lots of properties before choosing this one, and should have went with the Wingate instead around the same price with more amenities.

No one should get a call from their crying mother about a hotel room mix-up, ever. This place might be a "Marriott" by association, but I have had far better service at every Ramada or Super 8 I've ever stayed in.
