Our family plus Grandpa recently stayed overnight here on a holiday weekend…read more Check in was efficient and pleasant. Room was as described in hotels.com app. 2 queen beds and one fold out sofa bed - plenty of bedding and pillows for the 5 of us. Smaller than average hotel tv. The washroom was nice and had bath and body works branded toiletries and a hair dryer. Pool was one of the warmest we were in all vacation and twirly slide was a bonus for the kids. Pool depth was 4-5'. Breakfast was okay - pancake machine, cereals, sausages, and bread products. Neither of my kiddos liked the sausages here. The pancake machine was the biggest hit (though could be improved with fruit and whipped cream options). Parking lot was small and upon returning at night I had to wait for security to let me into the hotel. Unfortunately there was lots of screaming and fighting on the street outside my window. Lethbridge recently opened up a safe drug injection site 2 blocks away and our friends (who live in Lethbridge) shared that there has been a lot of recent issues in the area with damaged vehicles, businesses, and violence. It would appear there are still some hiccups and adjustments to bd worked out. Upon driving for groceries and dinner it was apparent that the safe injection site was pulling a fair bit of foot traffic in the area. Overall the hotel was good and a fair value but I'd be inclined to choose a different hotel next time if our friends continue to hear of ongoing criminal activity and violence in the nearby vicinity.
I spent Monday to last night at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites…read more When I checked in, I'd asked if my room had a tub (I love baths!). It didn't but the receptionist upgraded me to a room with a jacuzzi and a fireplace for free. That was sooooooo nice of her! My room was HUGE! My room had a mini fridge, a microwave (handy since I'd brought popcorn), a Keurig coffee maker, etc. WIFI, breakfast and parking were complimentary. There was a pool and a fitness room next to the lobby, which I didn't get a chance to use. The hotel is downtown so walkable to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. I had issues with two things, though. The WIFI, though free, was very sketchy and kept cutting out or was non-existent. Since I needed it to work, I found this extremely annoying and ended up using my phone as a hotspot. The water pressure in the shower was pathetic. I tried adjusting the showerhead but when I did that, the water pressure got worse and was reduced to a dribble. I was showering at 4:30am so it's not as if there was a big demand on the water at that time of day. So if you don't need to use the Internet or shower, this would be a good spot to stay. For me, though, these are things that are a must.

Based on the reviews, I chose to give Best Western Plus a try -- and unfortunately, it was a big mistake. As soon as I walked in, there was an unpleasant smell. We were eventually greeted by the front desk and given our room. The first thing I always do when I enter any hotel room is lift the sheets and check the linens. Right away, I could see the bedding had not been changed. The sheets and pillowcases had human hair all over them. I immediately went to the front desk to report it. When the supervisor came, her initial excuse was that it was a pet-friendly room and the hair could have been from a dog. I explained that it was clearly human hair and even showed her the video I took. She acknowledged it and offered to move us to a different room, but at that point, I was completely disgusted. If housekeeping left this room in that condition, I had no confidence the other rooms would be any better. We requested a refund and went to the hotel across the street, which was much cleaner, updated, and had no issues at all. I definitely do not recommend staying here. But if you do, make sure you thoroughly check the linens before settling into the room.

Somebody probably does, however. So I'm just going to assume that you've got some sort of business in town. If so, then you will be OK. Clean, commodious, and with a helpful and courteous staff. There is a sort of weird feel that suggests they do have larger ambitions. The courtyard for example. And the fake water. And the giant sign with six foot letters on the side of the building. Not to mention the room by the elevator, all wrapped up in plastic and cardboard like it was the scene of, well. Maybe that's just for Halloween. After inserting the card into the terminal, the staff informed me that the terminal was not working and asked if she could process the card behind the counter. After checking out, I noticed some unexpected charges from the Uber app, despite not having used the service for several months. In fact, that was the only time I had used my physical card in weeks. Regarding the hotel itself, the rooms appeared dated; my partner humorously compared the shape of the old and worn mattresses to a 'Danish.' The bedding was consistently wrinkled, which left us with a poor impression. Additionally, there were no USB chargers in the room, and the pool was closed for maintenance on Sunday. Given these experiences, I will be staying away from this hotel in the future.

Not once was I offered cleaning supplies or a discount for the fact that I had to clean part of my room and pay for my own supplies. When I reached out to management, they said if I come back the would make it up to us, but I never intend on going back to a hotel that's 6 hours from where I live and that I had to clean myself. I then asked for a refund, and I email has been ignored. I am completely unimpressed with this hotel and do not recommend it to anyone as how they handled the situation was ridiculous.

The floor in the rooms are filthy. I just bought new white socks. I had a shower/changed. By the end of the evening, my socks were black. My phone didn't work to call the front desk. I requested it to be fixed. (Never happened) The maid only shows up every 3 days to clean the rooms and make the bed. We put the "refresh room" card on the door. She never showed. Numerous times our room would be cleaned, but things would be forgotten. Coffee refreshed, towel not replaced. Etc. We even went a whole week without the bed being changed. Plus, we were constantly killing flies in the room! The location is another story. There is a strong homeless population in the front parking lot. Many times we would walk outside and find individuals that were obviously drunk/high wondering around the parking lot, passed out or loitering and begging for money. I even found one of them passed out in the hotel in front of the banquets area on the couch. I know she was homeless, because I talked to her earlier in the parking lot, and she told me. Additionally, the elevator constantly gets stuck on the second floor. This is a HORRIBLE place to stay. I would run from this hotel!!!! PS. Always check for bed bugs! Windows looking out to the pool, and outside looks onto gravel lot. Breakfast was ok. It is very much something to expect from a cheaper priced hotel, but considering we came from other Marriotts along our Southern Alberta trip, this one stood out in the wrong way. The eggs tasted like quite low grade, with just enough selection to have alternative food items. Expect the wifi to be on the slower side. We used the free one that came with bonvoy membership. There is a premium one that would be needed if you are doing any type of business calls. As a heads up, the tv remote did not work from laying in bed. Needed to be sitting on the edge of bed for it to register. I found on my last stay the aroma of chlorine coming in through the HVAC heater/ A/C unit was excessive and irritated my asthma. Checking in this time, the clerk let me know that there was entirely new staff... Offered me water... oh yes please! So parched on the drive down. Sadly the luggage carts are still pneumatic tires, and all three carts were in varying stages of flat tires. As I have a full cart of sometimes heavy gear every trip, I need air in the tires, flat tires are dangerous. I forgot to call yesterday to remind the maintenance staff to make sure the tires were pumped up. Though, that shouldn't be my job. Supper in Mr. Mikes was good. I didn't eat in this time, grabbed take-out to my room. Unfortunately, can't take out booze. They have to do it as room service and walk it up to the room with you. Nah, don't need it that badly. However, getting to my room wasn't quite as simple. We had to go through 2 sets of doors to get to the elevator which is easier said than done with you're carrying your luggage. The elevator itself is fair old and made me a bit nervous when it shuddered upon reaching my floor. I stayed in a standard queen room. It was pretty small but updated and clean. I had an in-suite fridge and microwave and there were way more pillows on the bed than one person could ever need. The pool and jacuzzi area stays open until 11pm and it was clean and spacious. We were the only ones using it at the time which was a nice treat. The only issue is that I didn't like that you had to walk all the way through the lobby and past the restaurant to get there. I'd rather be more discrete when I'm wearing swimwear. The fitness room on the other hand was less impressive. Again, I was the only person using the facility at the time which was a good thing because the elliptical was LOUD! It made a creaking noise with every step. My friend had a similar experience with the treadmill as well. While the Coast wasn't the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at, it was far from the worst. The conference facilities appeared to be quite nice so I would definitely consider staying here again if I needed to book them.
