Facilities were exactly as advertised & room was spotless clean and comfortable. The only down point is that the food served in its restaurant was appalling. Above all the medium rare sirloin steak (recommended by our waiter) which was tough, nervy and with plenty of sinew tissue (tasted more like a bad rump steak) + the pepper sauce was tasteless. We noticed that other tables were complaining and leaving their meals as apparently they got the same meat cut as I did. The profiteroles were served with an out-of-date cream that tasted really dodgy. Piece of advise, yes, stay there but eat elsewhere.

There are around 90 bedrooms in the complex, including a number of luxury suites, most of which offer views over the rolling countryside. The hotel do a booming conference and wedding trade, and as one of the few places in the area which offer genuine professionalism and quality, its usually booked long in advance. we've used the delegate facilities on a number of occasions, and its pretty much faultless. One of the conference rooms can cater for up to 500 delegates! Guests also have full use of the in house fitness suite, which offers a modern gym, 20m swimming pool, health spa, sauna, steam room and sun-beds. Staff take pride in their work and are happy to help. Food in the main restaurant is superb, and snacks in the public areas and room service is all of a high quality. Its probably a little more expensive than anywhere else locally, but you really do get what you pay for, and if you want a comfortable and quality stay in the local area, then this is the place to stay at.

There was a very small double bed, and for myself and my partner, who is into weightlifting it was not a comfortable night! Sink and cupboard (no plates or cutlery), microwave next to the bed and a very small, old TV. The facilities are very old and dated but the room itself was clean. There is no lift in the hotel and we were on the top floor, through about 8 doors to get to the back of the hotel to the actual stairs. The stairwells were used as storage for all kinds of things (very unsightly). The room was cold and no way of turning any heat on. No complementary bottles of water. We couldn't get our car onto the carpark. We arrived just after booking in time and it was full. Probably enough room for around 10 cars at a squeeze. We had to park on an NHS car park and pay for 24 hours further down the road. We have staying in many hotels in our time and I must say this has to be one of the worst. In need of updating and tidying in general. The staff are friendly enough. I can't comment of the complementary breakfast as we decided not to stay to eat.

The facilities are old, keeping classic features, but well maintained. Room interior decoration has been refurbished to modern (functional, in compliance with all standards and less costly than antiques) standard. My room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. They are proud of the restaurant and their first-class refined dishes. Yes, they are quite right but you might need a prior booking to secure a limited number of seat at the peak dinner time. I made a couple of suggestions with regard to this constraint. Later I received a very English-mannered polite letter genuinely appreciative of my feedback. Their cozy classic-architecture of full of mahogany bar is lovely. I enjoyed it while waiting for my dinner seat. Concierge is also classic-mannered English. They arranged a taxi right away to send me to the race course (wishing me the best of luck of course! and I won that day, thanks). I have uploaded Doncaster racecourse's pic on that day. Very diligent and professional services all rounds.

It was very clean and had a glass made bath tub. The sauna room was very easy to use. It had a "MR. MRS." feel to it. Well, what an odd place…read more Like others have said, this is a very strange hotel. On the one hand the room was huge with two excellent chaise longue converting sofas, good ipod docking music/alarm station, reasonable TV, lots of big mirrors and large bathroom. There were some excellent private lounge rooms near the bar and large open areas with many leather sofas. The Restuarant looked good albeit a little expensive, though we didn't eat dinner there on our visit - but the breakfast was excellent in both food and service terms. On the other hand the toilet paper is a rubbish dispenser, there is fake wood effect flooring and fake marble plastic walls, plus the most terrible cocktails we ever experienced. In fact the 'cocktail experience' was especially special... The barman who created our jug was working from the folder of instructions, doing half measures all the way and then discovered he didn't have all the ingredients at the last item (orgreat, which he obviously didn't know what it was)... After pouring a glass to taste, we negotiated an alternative (basic sugar syrup), he then proceeded to throw away the first glass and replaced it from our jug. So we were one glass down on our incomplete, poorly made cocktail before we started. Then he said 'thanks gentlemen' as my girlfriend a I left the bar. Awesome stuff! We were lost for words. Would we go back? Ya know what, we probably would.. Go figure!

However, the lunch was a traditional English Sunday meal: roast beef, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower with white sauce the lot. There was a choice of starters, but my party all opted for the Yorkshire standard of Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Two large individual puddings were served - a substantial helping! Note that if you choose this starter, you'll have four Yorkshires, because with your main course will come two more Desserts were perhaps a little limited in number, and again very traditional, including apple pie, gâteau and ice cream. I always enjoy ice cream, and that was my choice. However, it was not of high quality, and let down an otherwise most acceptable meal. There was a huge amount of waste from our main courses. This was because the vegetables were brought to the table on serving trays, and there was simply far too much for us to eat. No-one could possibly have finished the quantity that was brought. Here was wasted food, wasted money, and wasted energy in the cooking of it. Shame. The choice of wines was rather limited, but I picked out an Argentinian Malbec which turned out to be very good value. Overall, here is a good place to take your grandparents, or others who like traditional British food in an non-intimidating atmosphere.

I visited recently with my family to have a Sunday meal in the Hotel Restaurant and it was awesome! We met up in the Conservatory first then made our way to the restaurant. The staff are very friendly and professional and the table service was excellent. From ordering our food to having it served at the table was very quick and the food was hot and delicious. We didn't feel pressured or rushed to finish, it didn't matter how much noise we made (within reason!), there were strains of happy birthdays being sung around the room at other tables! Well worth the price, which I think was £15 for a three course meal served to you at the table (we were with family members who paid for the party, so not 100% sure of the price). Definitely worth a visit for a Sunday lunch! Highly recommended.
