I've been to this place twice in the last week after not going for years. I went in for a quick pub lunch on a Sunday afternoon and had a very creditable Cajun Chicken.
The second time was for a birthday meal. There were eight of us all together and every one really enjoyed their food. The Holden Arms is on the way out of Haslingden on the way to Blackburn, so it's not a place that's on any pub crawl routes. Handy if you've just been for a walk on the hills though.
It has a couple of plasma tellies showing football in the pub part, which is very snug and welcoming. The restaurant part is a little dated; it's a really old building but the beams have been plastered over and the carpet and wallpaper look like they were put there in the eighties. There are pictures of Elvis in his black and white years and that rather odd picture of the Last Supper but using Marilyn Monroe and other Hollywood stars instead of Jesus and the Disciples. Odd.
But don't let that put you off. As I've said, the food is excellent and well priced (I had fajitas, the rest went for various roasts). The Stella was great and the staff were both friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere too. read more
