Specialties
At HOHMANN, we believe collecting art should be exciting, personal, and rewarding—not intimidating. For nearly five decades, our family gallery has helped private collectors, interior designers, developers, and institutions acquire works that elevate homes, projects, and collections.
What sets us apart is the depth of our inventory and the breadth of our expertise. We offer access to more than 1,000 works ranging from emerging and mid-career artists to established blue-chip names, with options for every scale—from statement pieces for a living room to monumental sculpture for hotels, estates, and public spaces.
Clients value our honest guidance, discreet service, and ability to source the unexpected. Whether you are purchasing your first original artwork, refining an established collection, or seeking the perfect piece for a design project, we make the process approachable, educational, and enjoyable.
In short: museum-level art expertise with the warmth and service of a family business.
History
Established in 1976.
Established in 1976, HOHMANN was founded in Germany and is now proudly operated by the second generation of the family. Today, the gallery serves collectors, designers, and corporate clients locally and throughout the United States from its flagship location in Palm Desert.
Our 9,000-square-foot gallery is part museum, part discovery space, welcoming both first-time buyers and seasoned collectors. We represent contemporary artists, publish catalogs, host curated exhibitions, and offer works ranging from rising talents to blue-chip names.
Beyond the gallery walls, we advise private collections, collaborate with luxury residential and commercial projects, and help place public art. Local examples include Isabelle and Babies in Palm Springs.
What makes us unique is international experience, family values, and helping clients at every level—from a first artwork to a major collection or landmark sculpture project.
Meet the Business Owner: Christian H.
Christian Hohmann was raised around original art, collectors, and the quiet world behind the scenes of galleries long before he formally entered the business. Rather than taking a conventional path, he built his career early through Europe and later brought that experience to California.
Today, he leads HOHMANN with a simple philosophy: great art should feel discovered, not sold. Known for a sharp eye, discretion, and an instinct for placing the right work with the right client, he works with collectors ranging from first-time buyers to seasoned patrons.
Those who know him understand that the real story is less about biography—and more about what he quietly helps others build.
