One of the finest meals of my life on a cold winter night. Every Austrian city that relies on…read moretourism has a selection of various restaurants serving the same (nearly identical!) selection of traditional Austrian and Tyrolean favorites. You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

Today it was the first time I ate there but before that i heard so much good things about Schützenhaus. 1st but for sure not the last time, I can recommend this place for everyone. I had the beef dish with onion sauce and crispy onions on top, I can't recall the complicated name. It was delicious, the sauce with wine was unreal. I really loved it. Another had the much room beef special and it was apparently delicious too. Not as strong a flavour as mine but still very good. We also had the spinach cheese balls too, which were also liked, it was very tasty but quite a heavy dish, to be expected. We also had the cheese spatzle dish, it was really nice too. To top it off we had the apple strudel and the sxhmarne dessert. Both were good. We liked the schmarne the best. It was liked and even a little crunchy too. The sauces were very good and not sweet.
