The waiter made recommendations when i was trying to decide between options to accompany my asparagus, as well as my wine selection. Side note: an older woman at the next table brought flowers for her dinner party. The waiter found just the right size of vase to hold them. Very kind. I didn't have a reservation but was seated at a table which was free for an hour before the reserved party arrived. I like to peruse a menu and dally over my meal, but in this case I knew what I wanted and the kitchen was fast. The recommended wine was well chilled and did accent the asparagus nicely. The meal plating was very attractive. The asparagus was peeled perfectly and a good flavor. A couple of stalks were still on the crisp side, but I like that too. The potatoes were well cooked. The fish was a large filet with a lightly crusted exterior but unfortunately a tad dry. The hollandaise was delicate but not quite enough for the portion. I also found a small bit of eggshell in it. The waiter reacted to these tiny flaws gracefully and presented me with a complimentary dessert- Herrencreme (a boozy vanilla crème dish). Absolutely delicious. It is on the pricy side but white asparagus and salmon are expensive ingredients. The meal and dessert took less than an hour and I didn't feel rushed. A tribute to a well organized team.

She gave us menus in english and was kind enough to explain everything we didn't understand. Took a while to get our order in but, the food followed promptly (its a great place so it gets busy) Over all a wonderful old school, delicious home cooked German culinary experience. Highly recommend it. Skol!

I went there for a Christmas dinner with my family last year and it was good, but nobody was really impressed with their meal. It's pretty expensive also (they had a multiple course option for Christmas time dinner), so for the price we expected to have some very good food. Would definitely return for the daytime ambiance and drinks, but probably not for the food.

In warm weather you can also sit outside on the terrace. Since I didn't eat, I won't comment on the food, but looks like a great place to spend some time (but judging from the menu a bit pricey). The waiter was friendly, and arranged some extra chairs in the fireplace room for our large, unannounced group.

Our eyes have been opened to the glory of German sausages. Our son tells us that the name of this…read moreplace means "stool maker". According to the menu notes, the family got into the F&B business 4 generations ago. They cheekily say that the town hall is next to them as opposed to the restaurant being next to the town hall. After tasting their sausages, we are inclined to agree! Seating was a surprise. No reservations and you do not wait to be seated. The waiter told us to grab a table as soon as the previous occupants leave. The white sausages were served in a consommé. The brown sausages were served with sauerkraut. There were two types of mustard. Our son and I much preferred the dark brown one with our white sausages. We ordered a bottle of Riesling as well as water. Finally, I need to talk about their pretzels. These are the best pretzels we've ever had. They were soft and fragrant. The salt on them isn't hard, but crumbles easily when pressed. Can't believe I had been eating supermarket bakery pretzels since we arrived in Munster for the past several days. The pretzels are such a draw that the four ladies at the table next to us simply ordered a beer and a pretzel each.

The food, the views, the great weather (when there's great weather), and the excellent wurst. Lots to choose from on the menu, seems like the kind of place anyone can find something to enjoy. And by the time you're a few beers in ... you'll enjoy everything even more! Likewise can't complain about the service - our server was quick to point us to a table, get us a bottle of water, and came back a few times to see if we were ready to order (quite a lot of menu to review so it took us a while). What more can you ask for? Great lunch or dinner spot in the heart of town.

The main hype about this place is how large the pizzas are. The vibe is fun, loud, and trendy…read more During the summer months, the outdoor seating area is really lovely right next to the Promenade. However, the pizza itself isn't incredibly tasty. Two people in my party of four got pasta once and both didn't really like it. Also, one time I came here with my boyfriend, and he was served his pizza 15-20 minutes before mine. I asked where my pizza was and the waiter said they had "dropped it on the floor and had to make another one". Ok - that's fine, that happens some times. My pizza came once my boyfriend had finished his meal and it tasted good. But, we were expecting some sort of compensation for that and they gave us nothing and charged us the full amount for our meal. Eh, the place is fun every once in a while but won't be returning often.
