    Truffle fries and wine

Visited Hockley on a weekday for a short ski/snowboard day trip and had a great time! It's only an hour drive away from toronto and was easy to get to. The staff was also kind and helpful, and the slopes were maintained well. The hills are pretty small but it is a great place to learn with 2 ski lifts, multiple levels, and a bunny hill. We stopped by the bar area for some wine and fries afterwards since the winery next door was closed, but was very enjoyable. Would recommend anyone looking for a relaxing day trip!

AC not working. Turned it down to try and get it to work. Room got hotter and hotter all weekend.

At the "resort" for a conference this weekend. Very disappointed in the experience of this resort. My hotel room had no air conditioning. I asked them repeatedly to fix it and they said they did but every time I went to my room it was hotter than before. The only thing the air conditioner in the room did was work as a fan. Picture shows AC set to 64 (in hopes it would cool) and the room at 74. By the time I left the room it was up to 76. It never got cooler. They never offered another solution. They never offered to change rooms or do anything to make my stay comfortable. I travel a lot around the world and it is not worth the money they are charging here. The rooms are outdated and like I said the air conditioner didn't work. The fridge in the room also didn't work. We had a dinner in the tent on the Saturday night. Food was fine but service sucked. There was no one around to refill water or take drink orders. There was also no lighting in the tent so it got dark as the sun started to set over dinner. I have no issue going to the bar to get a drink but I expect water to be accessible and there wasn't even pitchers on the table for self service. Same for the conference. We had to consistently remind them to refill hot water at the station and refill pitchers at the tables. The manager when I complained tried to tell me that as I was here for a conference they were not able to do anything to to help which I find unacceptable as me booking my room and paying for it was done separately from the conference. I am their direct customer. After much back and forth they offered 10% which I took but due to how much of a fight it was to get even that it does not feel acceptable. Overall I do not recommend this place I had a good weekend with my conference people but will never return here and know there are TONS of significantly better places you can attend.

Grab and go lunch on our last day. This basic looking sandwich was actually so good.

I've struggled to write this review because I had an amazing retreat until it came to my bed. I arrived early on June 21 for a 2 day work retreat. I arrived before 7am to use the gym before our retreat was to start at 9am. The gym is very small, but has most of what you'd need to get a full workout. Treadmills, ellipticals, a bench, a multi-use cable machine and some free weights. They even have a sink in there. They have nice single washrooms with showers. I enjoyed having a space all to myself. We had a pretty nice breakfast spread with fruit, pastries, bagels and salmon. We had a couple breaks during our team building sessions and there were different treats and coffee waiting for us at each break. There were apple loaves, biscottis, chocolate chip cookies and fruit. Oh I do have to add the conference room was FREEZING. Almost everyone was complaining. It wasn't until the second day, someone in our group figured how to turn down, or turn off the cold air. We had a buffet lunch, with the main dish being butter chicken and rice. I have to say the butter chicken was not bad at all. I even considered getting seconds but I had to save room for dessert, which was fresh hot coffee cake and hello dolly bars. So good. Also, they had a whole bunch of veggie side dishes. Before dinner, my colleague and I wanted to take an evening walk to enjoy the grounds but were disappointed that they didn't really have any walking paths. We ended up walking around the grounds and then down the road. Be careful walking down the road, as there are no sidewalks and you are just walking on the shoulder of the road. Always walk against traffic! When we got back, we played some bocce ball with some other colleagues, then headed to dinner at the 85 Restaurant. Dinner was supposed to be served at 6:30 p.m. but we were not served until past 7. I was getting HANGRY. I don't know what the hold up was. Our group of 50 had a set menu. To start we had a kale salad, with a strip of crispy bacon and a crostini. I can't even explain how good this was. I love kale salad and this was another level of kale salad. It looked so simple but they really knew what they were doing with the flavours here. That piece of bacon really brought out all the flavours of the dish. Amazing. The same goes for the chicken and mash potatoes main dish. Juicy tender chicken. Creamy flavourful mash potatoes. I couldn't believe I was able to eat everything. It was so good! I don't even like creme brulee, but best believe I ate that up too! After dinner, we had a bit of personal time and then a bonfire out on the patio by the pool. The hotel provided everything you needed to make smores. I didn't stay here long and decided to call it a night. This was around 9:30 p.m. So I'm in bed and need to get up for some reason and I fling the duvet over, and I see something bright red. I prayed that it was make-up but nope, it was blood!! Not a stain either, that has been washed through, this was still red! See picture. THIS is why I had to give them 2 stars. I called housekeeping and it turns out they don't have night time house keeping. Great. Let me call the front desk. A manager shows up with those peach spare blankets that hotels usually keep at the top of the closet. My option was that or a duvet with NO cover, or you know, freeze. He informed me that there were no more duvet covers and no other rooms available. I asked if they wash the duvets and he told me not as often. Then, NOPE. I'll go with the sketchy peach blanket. I also requested that all my sheets be changed and all my pillow cases, which he did..himself. At the end, he did offer me a complimentary bottle of wine. Fine, I'll take it. Look, I understand that this issue (oh he did agree it was blood, cuz what else could that be?!) was not his fault or his responsibility, but as a manager I felt better customer service could have been delivered. I didn't feel that he was sincerely apologetic. I also felt, that more could have been offered because that's disgusting. Blood?! Again, it was something overlooked by the cleaning staff and that he does not manage them but I expected better customer service. Also, how is there no house keeping staff at night? You have a FULL hotel. Is the manager supposed to report to all of these types of call? He could be dealing with bedding issues all night. Anyways, I wanted to sleep at 9:30 and all of this wasn't solved until past 11. -__- I did fill out a customer satisfaction card detailing what happened but I have not heard from anyone. Disappointing. This was a potentially 5 star review until the bloody duvet.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights - I came in from Phoenix Arizona to attend a wedding. The only reason there is a star is because the food was ok and the scenery was nice. I was greatly disappointed in the Staff, Room and NOISE. I had made my reservation at least 3 months in advance and requested an updated room. I didn't get that. The room I got had wallpaper hanging in areas and the walls were dirty. The furniture was old and MAN, they need to change their mattress! It's lumpy!!! I complained but I was told they were sold out so there were no other rooms. I needed to get cash and was told to go to the ATM. I went there and got lost along the way. An employee found me and took me to the ATM...and said "I'm sorry but I don't think this works...it hasn't worked since I've started working here, 4 months ago. I actually thought the amenities looked great and was going to suggest a family vacation in the winter but after the experience I had, NO WAY! The room was too expensive and was so run down it's not worth it. NOT to mention the NOISE is horrible and don't bother calling the front desk to complain, they don't answer. I called every 5 minutes from 10:30 to Midnight...no one answered. It wasn't until 2:45 am when I had to get up for my flight and there was still noise (people screaming and laughing in the hallway) that someone finally picked up at the front desk!

The rooms are modern and clean and with adequate space. The parking lot is ample and close to the entrance. The ski lift is walking distance to the hotel (if you are ok with small hills). It could be a nice ski gateway if you have $300 per person including ski pass

We visited this place on Friday, November 8 till Saturday, November 9. Service at this resort is A+. Front desk staff are very helpful and polite. Didn't get his name however, he left front desk when he couldn't get a hold of housekeeping to check if our room was ready. Ryan and Laura at the bar deliver the best service and drinks. Some of the best drinks I have tasted were that Friday night at the bar. The restaurant food was amazing! All the flavours blended together to make some very mouth watering dishes. Service was equally as good. Saturday we took advantage of the spa and again great service all around. I highly recommend Mary for your facials. The reason I gave this a four star was we were a bit disappointed that management at the spa did not tell the four cackling hens in the whisper room to shut up. We came to enjoy the spa for relaxation. These four inconsiderate hens arrived loud and stayed loud. We were not the only ones annoyed by this as another couple felt the same. We felt that management should have told them to quiet down. Other then the hens we had a great time.

it's a dated resort, with very thin walls (woken up at 7am by small excited children) but my teen boys enjoyed the gym, the pool, and snowboarding on site; my hubby and I enjoyed Babbo...

Super impressed with the hotel. Came here for a conference and found everything to be delightful. The rooms are spacious, mine was clean and had a nice balcony facing the golf course. The food was bang on and had many vegan/veggie options. The winery is very chic and offers quite a variety. Property is lovely and they grow their own herbs and veggies for their restaurant. The pool and spa area next to the gym was certainly a nice asset and was very relaxing during my stay. I would return in a heartbeat! Great for parties, weddings and trade shows. This place has the right staff to accommodate.

I am writing this review on the ski resort. If you want to ride some hills for a couple of hours and already have snowboarding or skiing equipment I would suggest coming here. If you need to get rentals and lessons, DO NOT come here. The prices for rental and lift ticket for the full day are going to be about $100.00. Except this does not come with lessons. At blue mountain your rental and lift ticket are the same, and lessons are at no additional cost. The runs are also much better there. The rental place itself is very dated. The service could definitely be better, they have a bunch of teenagers running the joint. They would rather socialize than help you. There are NO LOCKERS so leave your valuables behind in your car. There is only one food option, which is the cafe located near the rental section. The food here was your typical overpriced burgers, fries, hot dogs and a few healthy options such as salads, fruits and yogurt available. The seating is limited and very squishy. Finally, the hills. The teddy bear hill which is likely the one you'll be using if you're learning to ski or snowboard has a horrible rope contraption that pulls you up the hill. No one is really there to instruct you how to properly hold it, and it becomes very cumbersome after your 3rd or 4th time holding on to get up the hill. The easier hills were good as they had some landings for when you want to slow down. Not too many people but a lot of kids learning how to ski. We only tried the blue squares because the group I went with were novice snowboarders. The blue squares were all very icy and not tamed. Stick to the easy rider if you're new. Because once you fall on a blue square the snow is so icy you will have a hard time to get up. Overall not bad for a 30 minute drive, but rentals are not worth the price and they need to improve on their customer service.

Cheese and meats - part of the italian feast

Came here for an office team building day. We started with an amazing race style scavenger activity hunt. There was anagrams to solve, orienteering, puzzles etc all around the resort. It was a bit unorganized by the staff as the some of the clues ended up not in order or completely hidden away. It also wasnt really swimming season, but we wanted to go for a quick dip and the pool had quite a few bugs and a dead frog. We then had a very lunch in their garden, which was beautiful. We sat under a white tent and was served an "italian feast" starting with a variety of cheese and charcuterie meats, it was pilled high on wooden boards which gave it a nice rustic look. Then came thin crust pizzas, which were not bad. The food continued with grilled veggies, green beans, grilled sausages, lamb chops and fish, all served family style. Everything tasted very delicious! and finished with a berry pie. However the service was a bit off, they would take away plates of food that was not finished yet. It was very filling and lots of food and left very satisfied.

This hotel looks newer which is really nice to see as most hotels often have been around a while. The interior welcomes you with a nice spiral staircase to the next floor. (you enter on the 2nd floor BTW). There is a bell at the front desk if no one is manning the area. The rooms are nice with a sitting area and bedroom area. there is one TV that can be faced into either area for viewing and a nice little wet bar with fridge. One the first floor you will find a spa along with the pool and workout room. The machines in the workout room look very dated and only one treadmill seemed to want to work. In the same parking lot is a Boston Pizza so you don't have to go far for dinner and the hotel serves complimentary breakfast in the morning. The really nice part is that they have real eggs, not powdered or preformed ones you find in other places. From the hotel you are short drive to shopping and restaurants. And if you like to take long walks/hikes the preservation area is close by. You can walk the trails for free but if you want to park it's $5. They will take US currency on a 1 for 1 exchange or the front desk will exchange small amounts for you. Internet seems to work pretty well with few issues. I had called two nights before my stay to confirm the details and to also request if we could possibly check in a bit early due to the timing of the wedding and time we needed to get ready. The woman I spoke to said she would note it but could not promise anything. I understood that but was happy to have the request in. Normally check in is 3pm, she said she would try for 2pm. I was pleasantly surprised when we were able to check in around 1:45. That was so much help for us as we'd traveled a long way to make this wedding and need just a few extra minutes to take a break and get ready. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and modern. Didn't feel crammed into the room. The coffee in the room was not great. I like the easy set up of the machine but the coffee didn't taste very good. The coffee available downstairs in the lobby was much better. I do not expect to be in the area again so I don't see myself returning but if I did, I would happily stay again.

Before these new fellas owned the place I never would have recommended it to anyone (including my dog). It's quite evident that they are pumping money and effort into everything and the people there couldn't have been nicer. There were a few things that we needed when we got there, and they were quick to accommodate us. The second time around, we stayed in one of the new rehabbed cabins; all the comforts of home. The new ones could have been a little bigger (perfect for 2 or 3 people maybe), but the owners tell me that they plan to expand some of them soon. I guess the 2-BR houses are quite bigger, but haven't totally been re-done yet. I was able to go in one of them and they were still quite nice; new pine floors in the one I went into. It's a quiet serene woodsy set-up with the lake right there. They have a small, quaint private swim area and dock; seemed like we had the whole thing to ourselves. The country store and the restaurant/deli are quite convenient on premises and look great now (compared to before). The food was voluminous and tasted great (you've got to try the all-you-can-eat buffet on the weekends; best brunch on the Lake hands-down; and their lobster rolls are better than our old fav's at Sawyers or Tamarack). Service could have been a little quicker, but I'll gladly sacrifice a little time for the quality and the quantity. Waitresses were very attentive. Another year or two or the same type of effort and this place will be 5 stars hands-down; a Lake. Winni. fav' of ours for sure which is good when you're travelling from NY. We made sure to leave our Yankees hats at home!
