Therefore, when he extended the invitation for the grand opening I wanted to come to support him and his business and business partner immediately. What you're getting from them and this academy is far more than a way to defend yourself. You're getting the ability to learn about yourself while losing weight, getting in top shape, and of course learning a skill that will keep you confident when walking down a dark alley. Not sure why you would do that, but just in case I wanted to paint the picture (haha). Now let's get back to the school and what you'll get. First, amazing staff. They are welcoming, loving, encouraging and motivating. Though I am not a full time student, I will make the one hour commute to train here at least once a month. Why don't I sign up you might ask? Well, I live in the city and train at the affiliate school there. HOWEVER, if I move to NJ, this will be my home - no questions. Back to why you might want to join this dojo/school/academy. It's great for children and adults of any age and every level. So check them out! If you have questions feel free ask them or DM me. I hope you enjoy your visit if you go. Thank you Professor Lincoln, Professor Brian and Master Igor for having us today. Oss!

They've always been able to attract talented instructors Even if their time there was fleeting. HowEver, MANAGEMENT leaves a lot to be desired like... integrity. I'm a first responder and have been working non stop since the initial COVId spike in early 2020. The owner claims he sent out an email but made no attempts outside of this "alleged" blanket email to contact members and inform them that his gym reopened and he would start charging members. While this practice may make sense during normal times, amidst a pandemic, with people loosing their jobs and lives it's nothing shirt of egregious. It shows a lack of empathy and integrity. It's shows that management cares more about the bottom line then they do about their members.

Exceptional gym culture. Clean and modern facilities. Knowledgable, yet personable instructors that…read moreare genuinely good at teaching. I've been training at this gym for 3 years now out of ~4 years total training BJJ. I've trained and done drop-ins at 5+ gyms now and no mat has felt more like home than MGA on 26th street. Scott and Kanan are both fantastic head instructors with different teaching styles that complement each other. They both foster an inclusive learning environment and a great sense of community and involvement. The gym culture is very relaxed, casual, and collaborative, lacking the traditional imposed rigid hierarchy of many other BJJ gyms and martial arts studios in general. This culture then trickles down from the top. The gym populace is overwhelmingly respectful, safe, and fun to train with, while still being stuffed full with absolutely high level people. The vibe is a "everyone is trying to learn and get better together." The curriculum and training also emphasizes takedowns and standup grappling, especially in the more advanced classes. So if you are interested in BJJ not just as a sport, but as a holistic system for fighting, you will definitely learn that here. This was a big plus of this gym for me. The facilities are also one of the cleanest I've experienced. The space itself is a brightly lit loft that, as far as NYC goes, is a great place to train and focus. The only downside is the "prison" style showers (in the men's room at least) which will take some getting used to but the plus side is that it maximizes shower throughput after class. Overall I strongly endorse MGA as a place to start your Jiujitsu journey or if you are an experienced grappler looking for highlevel training partners and advanced instruction.

This place rocks. I…read moreemailed them to ask if my boyfriend can take a class to see if this is a gym he would be interested in joining as he is a MASSIVE INSANE CRAYCRAY UFC fan. It would be my birthday gift to him. They emailed me back and said he AND I can take a class for free and decide if we like it. The coach / manager Jeffery was a doll. He showed us around and introduced us to some important peeps who fought in the UFC. Really awesome, my boyfriend was totally in his element. The gym is reasonably sized and even has an apartment upstairs where members can just hang out and watch TV. It honestly felt like I was in the Real World UFC. So I took the class too. I was the only girl. And I think I definitely kicked some a$$! Woo Hoo. Everyone was so nice and forthcoming. Nobody was creeping on me for being the only fah-male in the room. The other thing is, some of these guys are pros but were helping out the beginners like it aint no thang. Really awesome "bro-ski" vibe. I felt like one of the boys. Jason, the boyfriend, ended up signing up to the gym because he enjoyed it so much. Really cool experience for his birthday. Thanks EDGE for an awesome Friday night!

This academy and all the people I've met here are very near and dear to my heart. If you're in NYC,…read morethis is definitely the place to check out. I've trained at many other Gracie Academies, both in the United States and Brazil, and Renzo's has always been my favorite. You get it all, BJJ, MMA, Kickboxing, NoGi Grappling, and Kids classes. You also gain access to the widest variety of high level training partners imaginable. On any given day you'll run into UFC Fighters, world BJJ Champions, ADCC Champions, and movie stars. It's pretty cool. I know people are always complaining about the price and how expensive it is. Yes, it's not cheap to train at Renzo's, but like they always say, "you get what you pay for". And that's exactly it, you pay more money sure but what you get in return is absolutely worth the expense. I could go on and on about what makes Renzo's academy unique but at the end of the day to truly appreciate what they offer, you just have to experience it first hand. Give this place a look. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

My daughter has been training at Unity for over a year now…read more In brief: Kid Class - There are many BJJ schools near my home, but I chose to travel farther so that my daughter could train at Unity. I visited several BJJ schools across NYC before deciding. - The instructors strike the perfect balance of kindness and toughness, fostering discipline and resilience in the kids. - Unity is one of the rare places worldwide where a kids' class is led by a BJJ world champion (Sebastian Rodriguez). The other instructors are equally amazing and accomplished. Adult Class - It is inspiring to see so many women training, including multiple with black belts. - If I squint my eyes hard enough, I can picture my daughter as a woman training with them. Note: - To be fully transparent, I haven't trained at Unity as an adult myself. My BJJ experience was at a school led by Vitor Shaolin. - I have also trained in Krav Maga for several years, far more than in BJJ. - In my humble opinion, BJJ is the best self defense, especially for kids. Thank you for giving my daughter the incredible opportunity to train at your amazing school.
