Last night I went to your store to buy some foam (Poly Foam) for a school project my daughter has to complete (it's due in 2 days). I found exactly what I was hoping for but oddly enough, 2 of the 5 foam squares I found had stickers on them reducing the price from $4.99 to $3.99. I compared the part numbers and confirmed they were definitely all the same (same size, same product sheet under the clear plastic, etc). So 2 out of the 5 were discounted. I went to the register and asked the cashier about the price difference. She hesitated and tossed out a bogus response... "Inflation."
I asked if we could have all 5 at the same price and she said she could ask her "boss." You could see quite clearly she wanted me to say not to bother but I said "That would great, thanks."
Her boss came over and I recognized him as the person who had dropped/broke some glass items over by the frames moments earlier. I'm guessing he was still annoyed because my daughter and I definitely felt his stress/anxiety. He tried all sorts of excuses. "That's the old price." "The stickers are dated August (it's October now) so..." "Inflation" "We're not Walmart.."
After 30 seconds of extreme awkwardness (and him also hoping I'd say to forget about it) he reluctantly said okay to pricing them all $3.99 each. He started to walk away but turned around to specifically let me know that "We don't usually do this and it's a one-time thing."
... had my daughter's project not been due in two days, I would have told you to keep your precious foam and your $3 off. In fact, I would have gladly reached into my wallet and gave you $3 because it's obvious that your business needs it more than I do. Don't do anyone any favors, especially if you're going to spell it out to them afterwards. You didn't give me a kidney, you adjusted the price of 3/5 items, which is quite standard in almost every business.
How crazy is this to make such a scene over $3. You probably paid $0.25 for each of them but whatever, make your customers feel like that they are a burden.
It's highly unlikely that I will ever come back. Like you said, you're not Walmart, and that's unfortunate. Walmart would have done it without hesitation and with a smile. read more
